lol. Even Poortvliet's own club heard by the internet. Lowe is a very devious man. What he wants he expects. F**k everyone else. Including us.
-
Around 80% of us agree that Lowe should have continued Pearson's appointment. No-one knows what any outcome is to be. But overwhelming common sense has not prevailed.
-
So what happened since?
-
And sadly the same applies to many of our current crop of youngsters. We have been relying on them achieving their potential before they are ready.

This time last season, we had Pearson who was and is a motivator who inspires team and supporters (even despite some appalling results). This season we have Lowe, who is divisive, and his ill equipped appointees who do not inspire. Lowe has previous relegation form too. He is a loser. He has sapped the 'spirit of Southampton' out of St Mary's. That is why 86% on this forum expect us to be relegated. It is clear now that Lowe's 'experiment' in replacing Pearson with two inexperienced coaches at this level will be remembered as the biggest disaster in Saints history.

True. Mills walked for money. But Crainie left because Burley constantly overlooked him for a motley mixture of different loan defenders. He proved his worth at the play-off at Derby. By then it was too late. He walked for a better future. Had he been played at St Mary's Pele would not have been in the side to make his match-losing mistake. My opinion is that if Burley had given Crainie a run in the team we would not be where we are now. Just my opinion.

We know that Pearson did not have his contract renewed. We also know that Lowe did not wish to renew it because he had his own 'revolutionary' scheme of things to set up. Lowe's explanation that he could not afford Pearsdon because JP and Wotte together were 'cheaper' (if correct) has now been discredited by falling attendances and wasteful signings. I agree that Crouch should have offered Pearson a longer contract, but this would not have been possible until survival was guaranteed, which was not until the last minute of the last match. Was Lowe in place soon afterwards? There was a window of opportunity of a few days. Perhaps Crouch knowing that Lowe would sack Pearson anyway wanted to save SLH the large severance fee that this would have entailed? Interesting.
-
He might as well wait until we go into admin.
-
If so, were Crouch and co also paid severance?
-
But do you think that Plymouth will accompany Saints or go down instead?

I'm sorry, I just can't vote. My head can't see us having the resilience to carve out the points we need. It's our rivals that are digging deep and finding the will to succeed more than us, sadly. The squad has been weakened too much, and lacks confidence. But I still cling to that glimmer of hope. That is why I can't bring myself to formally condemn them on here -yet. I feel like Macbeth. If 'twere done, it were well it were done quickly (or words to that effect) My biggest worry is that we will fudge going into administration before it is too late to have points deducted this season, not next. Which are contradictory aims. Do we go for administration before we are mathematically relegated? Or do we start planning for promotion from League 1 now? Another poll on this, mods?

Saints Greatest XI - The Best Managers Nominations
eelpie replied to St Landrew's topic in Golden Posts
Seconded, with WGS and Chris Nichol third and fourth in that order. -
Rupert blames fans for staying away shock.

Saturday morning in a west London suburb. Its fine, no ice and Watford should be ashamed of themselves for postponing the match. Wimps! - or are they playing for time?
-
Blimey. If your singing non-stop is like your full stops, no wonder we beat Reading.
-
"..starting with you" lol

krissyboy31 is probably right. Generally, it seems to me, youth training from the Academy upwards seems to have lost momentum after Prost, Jennings and Elias left. It has become self-satisfied. Not having a focussed and respected manager hasn't helped. Strong direction, coaching and mentoring at SFC has been flaky to say the least. Discipline has been lax too. You are however completely wrong regarding Dyer, who is certainly not the finished product by far, but you clearly haven't seen him 'impress' when I have. He has potential yet to be fulfilled. Fans expect an instant finished product. It doesn't happen like that, as any college teacher will know. We have been spectacularly unsuccessful in guiding young players from the security of the Academy into the hurly burly of reserve and first team football lately. The players have lacked skilled, experienced mentors, on and off the pitch, which is vital. Swindon are doing this better. Notts Forest do this better. And so do a lot more.
-
I have watched him play since his Academy days. He has undoubted talent. And weaknesses. Another club would have handled him better, and benefited from better performances. Poor teaching by SFC.
-
But not as good as the BBC used to be in days of yore.

Some don't know a skilful player from poor. We fans are worse judges than other clubs' fans.

"They said I'd be third or fourth choice so I jumped at the chance of coming to Swansea." "Now I'm doing well and they would like me back. You could say that's a bit unfair." We can't blame Dyer for wanting to follow up his success at Swansea. To be told that he was third or fourth choice by Saints is quite appalling. The management don't know how to make the most of our better talent. And we supporters don't know a good thing until it's gone. We deserve our fate.
