Yes! Went in September for my 30th. Had an amazing time. Had great food and even better music experiences. Favourites: The Joint (BBQ) in Bywater, then walked round the corner to Vaughans bar for live jazz on a Thursday (first night was knackered but was worth it). Plantation & Bayou tour, beautiful and fascinating. Tuesday went to Jacques-Imo's in Carroltown best ever fried Chicken and then pop next door to maple Club to see Rebirth Brass band, one of the best gigs ive ever seen for experience. Bourbon St gets a bad rep, locals hate it, but quite enjoyed, let go, get drunk on strong cockatils and enjoy the mix of music. The muic is tacky mainly but all seemed to be well done. Frenchmen was good for music and cheaper than Bourbon, but total hipster area and full of musicians hanging round in the bars (not necesarily playing) who act like their owed something. Went to a Saints game in the 'Dome, lost though but great atmosphere, didn't think it would be that good. Was there for a week, which is a lot but saw different things each day, ate different foods and saw different bands every day and night. It's proprt grotty in parts but is balanced by great expereinces and some beautiful areas too such as Garden District and City Park. Can't wait to go back.

Crap Towns UK - Southampton Nominated

I think Rhino and Junk are open til 4-6 am, could be wrong but certainly not 2! Even though the Shooting Star and Hobbit in the Valley are open til 3, so was the Dorch but not sure if still open. Certainly no "local ordnance". Sounds like you got some strange chip on your shoulder mate. It's not as vibrant as Liverpool yes but most cities in Britain aren't, there are only a handful that are. Southampton has improved and if all plans go ahead (Cultural Quarter, West Quay Watermark, etc) then will be better. Also a lot of people I know complain leave rather than try to make it better, how does that help! -

Some of you must have some weird nights out in town or just choose the ****tiest places to visit. If you go to Yates etc then this what to expect. Some the bars round Bedford Place aren't bad, have a good time in Orange Rooms, the bars round their are good if that's your thing. Bevois Valley has got better, ie not just a student sh1thole anymore and with the Rockstone and Star it's a fairly decent night out. Music wise the Brook and Talking Heads are decent venues, and we if course have the Joiners if you really want to go to St Marys. But as this is TMS: chavs n fighting and tings, lolz, bloody students send em back to the library. -
Not going but a mate comes from that way and always flies to Porto then drives up. Santiago and A Coruna also have airports but bit more of a drive.

Love the Rockstone. Going there Friday for burgers and blues. Food is awesome and the drink selection is ridiculous for a pub of it's size.

They hardly turn up to the footy on their doorstep so why does he think they'll turn up to Southampton for cricket?
-
Am in Spain in July so La Coruna, Celta Vigo or Santiago would be nice!

Are you strugglling financially?
South City Si replied to Dibden Purlieu Saint's topic in The Lounge
Earn far more than did 10 years ago as was just finishing uni. But even from 5 years ago when we bought our house (lucky with Missus' parents lending us deposit) bills etc are alot higher. I earn much more but with everything else catching up it doesn't feel like I do. Nicely though just renewed moertgage after 5year fixed rate and interest is now almost half of what we were on so saving just under £200 a month! Hoping for promotion soon so hopefully will have some spare cash. ironically looking to move now as well as want to move before we have kids as certainly can't afford them at mo! My mum retired on less than I am on now and we lived in a bigger house than I'm in now, strange really but shows inflation. -
Time to re-open the St. Mary's Train Station Debate?
South City Si replied to Faz's topic in The Saints
Can't see the harm with having a light railway say between Central, St Denys then go to Stadium and onto the old dock station/Oxford Street. If, as already mentionned, something was developed at the stadium (bars. hotels, etc, then this would help) also could liven up Ocean Village area. Raises the question what happenned to the tram 'spine' idea for Town? -

What would you do with the sandworks opposite St Marys?
South City Si replied to Tom8558's topic in The Saints
If you look at the new Southampton City Council there is a picture with no aggregate works but a 'Saints Square' and what looks like flats/hotels/bars there. -
Good idea with Eastleigh seeming to have League ambitions with their ownership from Bridle. Now Bompey are up themselves it will be a good place to send our kids to get experience.
-
Would like to see him stay but with him taking on some sort of coaching role. Been loyal, with through good times and bad so would like to see us continue as part of the structure of the club.

Jobless/unemployed situation is the one that needs to be addressed, not pick on families with kids. Cutting benefits if there aren't enough jobs to go round or when those who have been stuck in a spiral of generational unemeployment and have never worked how do we expect people to hire them? I would like to see a base payment with top up for the unemployed i.e. reduce level of payment to a 'minimum livable amount' and top-up to those who do some sort of work or training. As said before if there are no paid jobs or lack of experience I'd like to see the gov't create a register of charities, council jobs or community work that would with incentives employ them. We then we get people working, the work that otherwise people wouldn't or couldn't get done...done, and get those previously unemployable experience then to move on to full paid work.

This is brilliant! I think it should a coalition between 'Bankrupt-zini' & Chanrai - asset strippers extraodinaire. Looking on PO they seem to think that this new bankrupt asset stripper would be better as it's not Charai! They never learn, replace one dodgy owner with another as it might work out!

Still not sure whether to stay in seat (block 4) or move to block 3 (3 seats away) as £50 cheaper?! Got a while to decide! Seems eay enough though having just looked at the link on the OS.

Halves wouldn't be that odd with SK Slavia Praha being red & white halves made by Umbro! Edit: Found this 10/11 http://www.footballshirtculture.com/10/11-kits/slavia-prague-1011-umbro-kits.html

No, we can stop singing it now. It's a Football League song, now we've left we can stop it now. Small time song, even if Newcastle do sing it.

Champions league is a ridiculous idea and would bankrupt trying. Even with the amount of money compared to even a few years ago we would do a Leeds...but worse! But we do, I believe have the potential to greatly expand our fanbase. For me 2 thirds of Hampsire should be ours, if you then include Christchurch, B'mouth, Poole, Salisbury to the West and potentially sneaking some support from West Sussex that is a large catchement area. The trouble is convincing 'neutral' or plastic Mancs to come watch us is a huge ask when they can watch the 'top 4' every week on Sky or ESPN. Also fans in Basingstoke area may well go to reading instead as nearer. First thing is to advertise all round Hampshire for games & STs so when they see the posters/adverts they associate Saints with th their area.

We're having a party when P*mpey dies... FC United of Manchester:

Yes, Iphone 4, cracked screen. Still working, just massive crack and buits of glass keep coming off. Do you fix these then and if so how much, time, etc?
-
Righto I'll try the shop in Shirley. Too cack-handed to try to fix things myself, I'd end up destroying the kit as well!
