  1. Most businesses have a 2, 3, 5year plan which almost always have to be reviewed and rewritten........ Saints had better rewrite theirs now..........not a prayer of promotion with this sorry bunch........more chance of relegation which is a realistic possibility with no improvement from the so called "best squad in the league".....laughable!! A total inability to score a goal (with the odd, very odd exception of Bristol Rovers) is unacceptable at this level. And the bilge that is posted on the OS by some poor, inept player about how the lads are "up for it" and "working hard to put things right" is even more depressing. Bring on Colchester and watch the goals fly in.......just none of them will be for Saints.... wonder what the odds are on Saints NIL on Saturday.........now there's an opportunity!!!!!!!!!
  2. Didn't think Saints would win but hoped for a draw!!........Very disappointing,,,the new manager "bounce" simply never seems to work for Saints............and without scoring a goal yet again...........God this is awful!!
  3. Saints rarely respond to new management like almost every other club seem to.......so at best a draw tonight in my view and after the disasters of the past few weeks that will be a monunemtal achievement
  4. Absolutely correct and well put!!.......but it will take several weeks I fear before this turns around in any way. Most teams get a new manager "boost".... sadly it rarely if ever works for Saints!
  5. Seems an excellent choice.......may take some time to turn this situation around. Just hope everyone doesn't expect Saints to win weds and saturday now.......this bunch will need some major kicks in the behind which may take time to deliver!!
  6. Would need to be in top half at Christmas I would imagine
  7. The Davis article on the OS is the usual "we are disappointed but are a good bunch of lads" stuff. I fear these lads are in for a stuffing on wednesday at MK Dons who will definitely be up for revenge from last seasons defeats and rudderless Saints will be their usual inept selves and come away with NIL again. There isn't enough grit in the side to pull together in adversity , which is what "managerless" means. Its very disappointing after the efforts and promise of last season to see them underperform when a decent start was paramount. Embarrassing for them all I would imagine
  8. I agree...... Garbage is exactly what the new incumbent will have to deal with in terms of performances and general morale. There will be no quick fix and results will take time to improve. Some people seem to think Saints have some divine right to automatic promotion this season after an abjectly poor start..... my view is it just isn't going to happen.........OK not mid table but possibly play offs is achievable
  9. Its going to be a tough task for whoever gets the job to get this bunch motivated. At the moment a mid table finish would seem the likely result, but given where things are today it would be relatively successful. It does mean, however ,that the so called 5 year plan is under pressure!. Most would be happy with Championship football in 5 years. Sadly I fear thats unlikely!
  10. Interesting level of positivity on this thread......just wish I could agree........think its going to be a struggle!!
  11. I feel this situation will take some time to change......most of the players are AP players and will take time to adjust to new management. I fear unlike most clubs there may not be the "new manager" factor which tends to have an immediate effect on results. It will take time for things to change, and the expectation levels on here will not allow much time!.... I fear for the new incumbent whoever he is
  12. There is, of course, the possibility that he has had a change of heart and will not take the job. In which case its back to square one and look for an umpteenth choice manager! Look out for several more games of no end result and minimal points if so!
  13. So much for the midweek waffle of the OS saying RL wasn't worried as the goals will come!! He may not be worried , but everyone else is!!
  14. A wise decision Eddie.......this lot are beyond hope!!
  15. Adkins or no Adkins...stand by for another humping at MK Dons midweek.......this blend of players are not performing with or without a manager. I wish the new manager good luck, he's going to need it with this bunch!!
  16. The players should have been up for today with or without a manager , against a side bottom of the 3rd Division who pasted them in the cup. Surely pride alone would motivate. This so called "best squad in the 3rd division" may think they just need to turn up and win.... doesn't work that way. MK Dons will add more misery in the week.........I fear mid table medicrity for this lot at best....at worst doesn't bear thinking of!
  17. Whether Adkins or some other poor unfortunate manager gets the job, he had better bring his magic wand with him! For such an expensively assembled (at this level) bunch the level of performance is shocking. Stand by for another humping at MK Dons who will be out to avenge last season's results. What will this lot do??....very little I suspect but roll over as per today
  18. On the bright side.......put money on Saints to lose and fill your boots!!
  19. Can't score........won't score!........this is a shocking result from a bunch of players that should have been out to put the record straight after a 3-0 humping in the cup. Instead an insipid bunch of the so called "best squad in Division 3" fail to score a goal yet again. With or without a manager they are an embarrassment to the club and sit where they should rightfully be......... on the verge of Division 4.........
  20. Oh dear..........Saints usual start to the season continues.........will start winning the odd game in October hopefully as usual. As Swindon are bottom of the league its a home banker anyway!!
  21. When Strachan arrived he had not exactly been fantastic at his previous clubs and did well at Saints.......I think Adkins should be given every opportunity and see how things go.......wish him well
  22. If only I knew why! Just seems Saints are media "unfriendly" for whatever reason, right or wrong. That doesn't help a new incumbent. Maybe nobody would attend the "unveiling" whenever it occurs. I think the "WOW" thing was from a pundit on BBC5Live allegedly "in the know"......maybe others can clarify if not
  23. Frankly.......I feel Saints are becoming an unattractive position for many managers. There is little stability. There is little opportunity to attract new players even on loan. Anyone with another option would take it rather than manage at SMS at the present time. The new manager will , in my view, fall well short of a "WOW" from the vast majority of fans.
