For me he is well in credit at the moment based on this season's performances. However this was a big wake up call and any further similar aberration will be harshly dealt with, I would imagine. Lesson learned i hope.

The media will have this as a home banker, albeit with the proviso that "Southampton have outperformed this season so far...but we will find out today what they are made of"...........I however have a quiet confidence that we can win this game and really make them all sit up. The confidence and togetherness within the club seems to be at an all time high, and rightly so. Its a great time to be part of it and "quietly expect" at the Emirates....heady days!!

Simply time to move on. No doubt Cardiff and other clubs will discover the reasonable demands or otherwise in due course. I have to think that this sort of language and posturing does nothing for the reputation of agents and even less for their client, the player who seems to be a puppet in this whole affair, whoever it may be. Its a reputation that will build for the player & agent and follow them the next time they need a move. For Saints , would this be a long term committed signing.?? I think not and would cause more issues than it would resolve
-
Its all about respect, good management and decency. Not about "getting over it" and "move on". Its just another sign that the values of SFC are not , in my view, quite what they used to be.

Unbelievable decision. NA had performed well in advance of almost anyone's expectations. What message does it send out to other future candidates that someone as successful as Adkins loses his job when leading Saints to a potentially respectable place in the Premiership? I don't know who this new guy is but its hard to see any positives right now!!
-
Personally, I like the way he is driven and successful getting Saints to where we are today. I don't "like" the CEO's of many companies and organisation but that doesn't mean I don't do business with them and respect what they are acheiving. This preoccupation within some areas of society that the leader has to be "liked" and revered by all and sundry is nonsense. He has stuck by NA to this point and I will expect he will for some time yet despite the grumbling of many. As far as the alleged falling out with "legends", there are often more than two sides to the saga!!

Olly Lancashire's shock tweet about Southampton Football Club
egreog replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Frankly who gives a stuff what any" has been" footballers think!! What dizzy heights does this one play at?? So uninterested I can't be bothered to look! -
No....there is no simple solution and frankly nobody who I would prefer to Adkins at present
-
Its still far too early......kneejerk reaction thread. And which magician does anyone expect to stroll into SMS and turn things around?? I vote stay with Adkins

How many tactical mistakes is Adkins allowed? (Part 2)
egreog replied to Dibden Purlieu Saint's topic in The Saints
I'm with the "stick with Adkins" camp.....quite frankly the alternative options are certainly not any better in my view, and bringing HR back for a second stint would be a disaster. His heart lies to the east and things would get worse. Some of the alternative names mentioned are simply journeymen managers without decent records. NA deserves better than the flack he is taking from some quarters based on his performance since taking over, and I hope NC stands behind him -
Everyone is looking for the character in the club to shine in a game like this, where the performance matters away from the pressures of the PL. From the stats it appears the fight isn't there. Many of the players tonite had a chance to impress and make a push for PL selection. It seems nobody stepped up. Losing at Leeds in itself is not the issue , and they probably see it as revenge for our smash and grab last season, but not turning up at all, going through the motions at any level is unacceptable and worrying in the long term

Harry Redknapp to be named manager within 3 weeks
egreog replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
The proximity to Sandbanks is critical in his thinking, and that is worrying. I just hope NA turns the corner soon and this thread can wilt away. -
No....definitely not
-
Adkins will not be under threat for some time yet. Ludicrous to even bother having a thread like this. Fortunately NC is less of a knee jerker than some fickle fans!!
-
Its early days..... how some people can call for NA to be sacked so soon is unbelievable!!

In some ways the first 4 games have been a wake up call that might bear fruit. With the exception of the Wigan game sandwiched between United and City, nobody would have expected points. In fact losing to Wigan was no surprise as psychologically it probably appeared "winnable" relatively more easily than any of the other and Saints typically slip up. This Villa game is massive now. The fans know it, the players know it, and the management know it. I genuinely feel that a weeks "gelling" time on the training pitch after the recent internationals should bring about a togetherness that is the hallmark of previous Saints campaigns throughout the decades. It should be there to see next week. If it is not evident then I do fear and become extremely worried as to where points will come from.
-
3 points is essential from this or I fear a long season of angst and discontent. Presumably the players are totally aware so should play out of their collective skins. If not we really do have major problems without any obvious solution.
-
It is early days but defensively things don't look promising. Even if Saints were 3-0 up with 15 minutes to go against Villa many would be extremely worried. Think it could be a long and nervy winter with the current defensive frailties!!
-
It would be crazy to even contemplate sacking such a successful manager after 4 games. This is a low point in the season, I would suggest it needs to kick start now and the management and team know that. Only in January should there be a review . Until then keep faith in those who have succeeded so far

Beram Kayal - £5m - from Celtic (linked in Telegraph)
egreog replied to Matthew Le God's topic in The Saints
May well find that several Celtic players become available when they crash out of the Champions League qualifiers against Helsinki. The prospect of a season with no European football and no Old Firm derbies will tempt many to push for a move south -
This is all a bit of a non event story. The facts are that most cruises set off from Southampton because it has first class transport links to the majority of the UK population. The ships would take considerably longer to get to sunny weather from Liverpool, extending cruises by a day and therefore increasing cost. The infrastructure is all in place here and works well. Losing sleep over somewhere like Liverpool muscling in on this is pointless as all it will ever be is a stop off at best for smaller ships struggling with a meaningful itinerary on a round the UK cruise. The positives for Southampton are countless, which is why its Europes leading cruise port. The positives for Liverpool are almost nil!!!

Definitely not the sort of individual the club needs going forward.......simply get rid!
-
He has become a fringe player by his own actions. Personally would love to see him go

Things you will miss - things you are not looking forward to...
egreog replied to Legod Third Coming's topic in The Saints
Miss- the competitiveness and unpredictability of the Championship, surely the best "lower" league in the world with attendances that most European top leagues can only dream of. Not looking forward to-seeing the new fixture list and wondering where the points are going to come from!
