The Long Overdue Pointless 2015/16 (Adidas) Kit Thread

I'm surprised that keeper manages to save anything! Looks like the scholars would have to lace his boots and do his gloves up for him! -
Both McLaren and Carver won only 2 of their final 13 games of the season. He's gonna fit right in!

Saints opt not to take up right-to-buy on Eljero Elia
SaintZamboni replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
It's a shame but I think the correct decision. Elia had impact against Newcastle and a cracking game at Old Trafford, making Phil Jones look as average as he is, but that's all. Great feet, good pace but nothing to show for it. -
1) Somebody needs to show this Djuricic 2) This guy has better highlights for the season than Pompey as a club (see the Pompey takeover saga thread)

CONFIRMED: Cédric to Saints on four-year deal

Would be a shame to see Clyne leave but 15m (ish - I hope) profit would soften the blow -
When will Southampton win the Champions League?
SaintZamboni replied to Redslo's topic in The Saints
Never. If FFP wasn't enough to keep most of Europe out of the competition I'm sure another rule will be introduced to maintain the status quo. It'll be - only 2% of revenue from academy sales or must have spent more than 20m on one player to be allowed in -
and now they have returned to the elite list of failing Toronto sports franchises!

The Toronto Blue Jays makes that statement incorrect

Let's not forget how he failed to win the league but did then take us straight back to the Premier league whilst the winners of the league now sit mid table in championship. What a failure.

Osvaldo in the news for all the wrong reasons... again

Is there an emoji for sneaking girls back into the team hotel after a match? -
Nathaniel Clyne Joins Liverpool - Official
SaintZamboni replied to Saint Garrett's topic in The Saints
It's worth noting that during the whole Sanchez signing saga last summer he rejected Liverpool because he didn't want to live there. Raheem Sterling has been house hunting in London. There's more to moving to Liverpool than just money/potential trophies -

If the Athletico rumour is correct then maybe not. Morgan in exchange for Toby and 10m, Clasie being quoted at 12m. Would potentially be a good deal both financially and in terms of our squad.

Are they taking Luke Shaw on loan then?

So you're suggesting those players are in fact akin to playing Jamie Vardy in your side? Borini yes. One token call up. Despite his many failings Bolotelli had a 1 in 3 goal ration at Inter, AC and City and 33 Italy caps. Osvaldo 1 in 2 at Roma and Espanyol before he came to us and 14 caps. Now I know Vardy had scored 31 in 36 at Fleetwood but ultimately, not remotely the same.

I was surprised to see nobody had jumped onto the skate buzzword bingo after their huge signing yesterday! Bennett said: “This is a massive club with a great fan base and the manager expressed a desire to bring me here." “I’ve had a few other offers from the league above, but I certainly don’t see this as a backward step." “This club are looking to go somewhere and I want to be a part of that. I know what it takes to win promotion from this division because I’ve done it before.” Bennett also revealed that he is looking forward to running out in front of the Fratton faithful. He said: “I’ve played against Pompey before and know what the supporters are like. They’re loud and there’s plenty of them." Pure gold.

Very droll. The point remains, why are we bothering to call up this caliber of player?
-
I really don't get this "he's been good for Leicester". In which case why not call up Puncheon? He's outscored Vardy and has been part of a Palace side who've been excellent since Pardew took over. I just don't see the point of it
-
If Vardy is "just what is needed" then I don't even want to know what the level of ambition is. You don't see the other major European nations dishing out token call ups to people who play for lower level teams and scored 4 goals all season....
