  1. Which England squad would that be?
  2. Bazunu is in the Ireland squad so…
  3. That was way way to easy. Massively one footed player allowed to work back onto his best foot, float one in to a player who is unchallenged. Another good* performance going to waste
  4. Fucking hell folks. We’re a win away from being 15th, we’ve definitely had the better of the second half and we’re absolutely an improvement on the shit we’ve been subjected to throughout the earlier part of the season. Brentford are a good side and the game played into their hands. Sneak one, sit deep, break. All isn’t lost. Some of you need to get a grip.
  5. Agree with this. If we were mid table or the team winning 1-0 it’s fine to be composed and controlled. We’re not.
  6. A bit of an over exaggeration don’t you think? We’ve dominated the ball and played in their half for most of the second half. End product remains lacking but we’re not looking dead and buried or fragile as fuck like we used to
  7. Wouldn’t be the end of the world to pick up another point here. Yes, 3 would be monumental in terms of psychology as we’d be out of the drop zone. I think that not losing could start to become a good habit for us though. That said I think we’ll win 2-0. Unchanged line up.
  8. Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Goal!
  9. I think it’ll be a 433/4231 with Walcott down the right. We played well for a half against wolves in a similar shape, maybe they can push that to a full 90 for once…
  10. Bazunu KWP ABK Janny B Perraud Lavia JWP Armstrong, S Sulemana Onuachu Adams Id like to see Adams and Onuachu together. Adams is always good for link up play, maybe balls to him can be returned to the 10s so they can attack or find a ball for tall Paul. He might help with the press so Onuachu lasts more than an hour too! I don’t know why I think we’ll win but I’m going for 2-0, both Onuachu.
  11. I said it in the build up, we should have played the team that was starting Saturday. Score a goal, build some momentum and cohesion and maybe have a bit of feel good before the weekend. We’re now on the back of another very poor result and morale must be further dented. If the logic was to rest our best then they had better come out fucking flying on Saturday and not stop until 90+ or they’re subbed. Sellés managing to blow all the good will out of the water nice and early in his tenure.
  12. I’d agree Armstrong had a bad game but my feeling was, at least he tried. Yeah he couldn’t beat his man often, nothing came off and he missed our best chance of the game but at least he tried to beat his man and created a chance. Who else in the attacking third can we say that of?
  13. Play the team that you intend to play at the weekend. Get them on the field together and get a win under their belts. If there’s question marks (hopefully elyonoussi and Bednarak) then play the alternative and see how they perform. We need to find a formula and some consistency. I’d try McCarthy AMN ABK Salisu/DCC KWP Lavia JWP Stu Alcaraz Kamaldeen Onuachu
  14. Leeds are non stop at the moment but they make mistakes. If we can nab a goal they’ll crumble and so will their fans. Think we need to concentrate on not losing or getting ovverun
  15. Tall Paul will open his account with a brace today. 3-1 saints
  16. William Smallbones was one of my favourite young players before his loan. love and light
  17. Reckon he’ll end up at QPR
  18. Looks like 4231 to me. Armstrong playing as 10, which he has suggested in interviews is his best role. Kamaldeen and Elyo on the flanks, one is exciting the other is Elyonoussi… Bednarak is disappointing but maybe DCC isn’t fit or his attitude hasn’t been right? Manager picking players he trusts potentially?
  19. https://insidefutbol.com/2023/02/17/i-wouldnt-even-go-shopping-there-manager-rules-out-southampton-job/595449/ Oh no, what ever will we do…
  20. Why is it that some fans think we’re better than Marsch? The entitlement is absurd. We want experience but they can’t have failed. So, Klopp, Pep, Potter (until he’s sacked) or they have to be a glamour name. I like the idea of Marsch. He’s got a style, he’s got pedigree from the RB group and hopefully has had a little time to reflect on what went wrong at Leeds. Ankersen (not flavour of the month, I’m aware) has also been public about looking for people who’ve ‘failed’ as it gives the opportunity to learn and grow.
  21. This. I’m one of the donuts who has been behind Jones because I thought he’d get us going. First half I was primed and ready to jump on here and point out that we were intense, made tackles, moved the ball, got it in the box and looked dangerous. justification for giving him time. Thats it though. Lost the support of everybody with that second half. Inexcusable from manager and players. Hats off to Kamaldeen because that lad will contribute to anything positive we do from here.
  22. Hassenhuttlesque Jekyll and Hyde
  23. If he’s under some pressure to play ‘his’ way then I’d expect to something like his old 352 Luton lineup. I’d rather see DCC than Janny B but maybe he’s one of those we’re hearing about who’s not showing ‘fight’? Bazunu Lyanco Bednarak Salisu Bree Alcaraz Lavia KWP JWP Adams Onuachu Thought this little snippet was interesting (it’s from a tactical analysis of Luton, not my words so don’t string me up about it!) ”Jones has been right in sticking by his favourite system of choice, as the team have accumulated just one win in the five matches they played in a back-four.”
  24. There’s already a thread for this. That one is dull and repetitive too
  25. I voted not to sack Jones and it was prior to the training ground bust up rumours. Thought I might share why. For a while people were looking for Hassenhuttl to go, we were struggling and teams cut through us like a hot knife through butter. He didn’t get the backing he deserved but he also didn’t adapt which was a stick he was beaten with. Personally I didn’t care but I know others did. We were in a rut and things weren’t good, he lost his job and I think rightly so. You can’t say you don’t have answers and expect to keep going as a premier league manager. We appointed Jones and people weren’t happy from day 1. I don’t mind him personally, in a way I feel bad for him. He’s compromised what he feels made him successful which was likely to appease a fan base who, for some reason, expect more. We have a squad of shirkers, we’ve known that for ages. Most of them aren’t good enough but they’re still here and getting new contracts because we can’t afford for our accounting sheets to show any kind of loss. A player whose initial transfer fee is off the books is a potential accounting profit at this point. I don’t see how sacking him helps. Yep, he’s melting down but so did Hassenhuttl, just differently. We’re still shit. Elyo and Djenepo (plus any others you wish to name)still make up part of our squad. Who comes in to save us? I admired Hassenhuttl because he had a method and stuck to it. Jones has (seemingly) been more flexible and it hasn’t worked. There’s been a long rot taking place and we need to sort it. If that means going down, offloading workshy egos and rebuilding so be it. We’ve done it before and, you know what, it was fun for those of us who stuck around. I believe he’ll bring us back up if we go down and, in my eyes, it’s not his fault we got this shitty in the first place so I’m willing to give him some time and benefit of the doubt. If we come back up at least, I hope it would be fighting. Ultimately I want him to get a chance and for saints not to become a revolving door of managers and ‘experienced’ players. I know Im in a huge minority but I hate the negativity and this rut was grooved before he arrived. Im happy to see if go if he caused a huge bust up with players, nobody can expect to survive that.
