And increase your chances of conceding and failing to retain the ball sensibly

Contributed f*** all apart from 88% passing accuracy and running 12.6km (more than any other player on the pitch). In a game were we needed to keep the ball and have players who could defend and attack I think he did the job required of him. It's not his fault WBA didn't try to win despite the home side.

Ralph in the dug out ... hockey world cup
SaintZamboni replied to Yorkshire Saint's topic in The Saints
I don't see how this is any different to coaches from clubs working with national teams during the international breaks. He's a highly respected hockey guy with loads of experience and success to his name. Can't help in terms of promoting our 'brand' in North America and is a one off opportunity which won't damage his work with the club, I certainly don't think it's a loss of interest in his current role, just a great opportunity to take up. -

I'm nursing a semi already -
We only need to win 1-0 and, should things be stale (as I suspect) the bench is full of options going forwards

Stekelenburg, Martina, Fonte, Caulker, Yoshida, Targett, Romeu, S. Davis, Ward-Prowse, Pellè, Rodriguez.

CONFIRMED - Virgil Van Dijk joins on Five Year Deal
SaintZamboni replied to Brizzie Saints's topic in The Saints
Maybe it's for the best in the long term if he gets a bedding in season. Rather than Saints performing well and having to offload our key performers it might be good for us to finish 10th and hold onto our core for another push the following season -
I think the only fair way to compare is to look at the last time we played a team two leagues above us in a cup competition. The attendance was 28,792 (Man Utd at home). After that season there wasn't a league two levels above us anymore!

It's Everton's refusal to sell their talent that has seen them sky rocket in the premier league standings and appear as genuine contenders to the big six.

Done deal -
There won't be a decent cash surplus because of the training ground developments. We didn't get given that as a gift for a sustainable future.

I wouldn't get overly worked up. The North American sports networks cater to 'fans' of the big 4, Liverpool, Spurs, Barca and Real. Everybody else is a token gesture, a 'plucky upstart' challenging the authority of the big guns. Every time I watch saints they highlight our key men and, should there be a transfer rumour running about the player, they mention it and highlight how the player will have ambitions to play in the champions league and win trophies. It's frustrating, as is having to suffer Danny Dichio as a pundit, but there isn't anything you can do when their entire sports regimes are built around profit and closed shops with no relegation (a bit like the Champions league really)

Saints willing to listen to offers for Pelle?
SaintZamboni replied to BridgnorthSaint's topic in The Saints
Pelle and Mane have 14 goals in 20 since February, 7 each. In comparison, the much lauded Charlie Austin has 6 (2 in the championship). I don't know about the % conversion rates for these guys but they clearly aren't doing badly. Certainly not badly enough to be discarded without a serious replacement. -
And then can be roundly chastised for not filling the 'Wanyama shaped hole' in our midfield

Sants 0 - Everton 3: Post match rage thread
SaintZamboni replied to Bewildered's topic in The Saints
For 15m, which evidently isn't our priority at the moment -
If, and it's a big if, we can score I think it's time to sacrifice one of those three behind Pelle for Romeu and let Davis/JWP fill the midfield. Mane playing off Pelle is clearly our new thing but it isn't really working well for our shape.

Because managers never pick on reputation or tactical grounds

Noooooooooooooooooooooo

It absolutely isn't. It's a sensible point, relevant to the topic at hand. Prowse clearly has an abundance of potential but needs to find his role. There are plenty of great professional who weren't where he is in his career at the same age which should give hope for coming seasons.
