Kelvin Davis to be sold with Rasiak, Saga and Skacel
OldNick replied to Matthew Le God's topic in The Saints
Cutting costs and so by doing so avoiding the potential -17 or even -10 is a massive feat.If by the skin of our teeth we do so that is something that should be recognised. And no most accountants couldnt do what RL is doing that is why they are accountants. -
NP will go down as a success in many fans heads. He took us to the brink of rellegation and 3we were saved on the final day, by a good result. If many fans had their way on that day John would not have been in the team!!! We were fortunate that Sheff utd knew that they wrre playing for nothing second half and eventually let go, add to that BT'S decision to be injured and NP will go doewn in history OK. Had the worst happened then the tame 0-0 draw at home to Coventry and the pathetic results v an unmotivated Cardiff and Burnley home would have more focus.

Cutting costs and making us stable would be a momentous achievement. Already he has turned a fair few of his critics into being fairly excited about the new set up.That again is good.He will p### me off during his tenure there is no doubt but generally that is the way of life and you have to understand most of it will be of benifit. He can see the figures wheras we do not and so he is best positioned to make the decisions. If he gets success on the pitch, although you cannot put that down to him, except se;lecting a the best approach, that will be an added bonus . bournemouth are a warning to us about being so flippant going into administration. -
GB did what he could in difficult circumstances. He is now an international manager. It is interesting that all the posts about we mustnt get rid of Rasiak, Saga John etc it is forgotten who brought them to the club.Andrew Davies likewise, his good loan signings, ok Rudi has been poor but there were few who were upset with the deal. He turned Bale and Baird Jones from reserves into muliti million pound sales. The guts were ripped out of the team last summer and GB himself said that a mid table fininsh was what was likely. When he left that is what it was panning out to be. GB is gone get over it. I have.

and deservedly so, if he turns aroud the wage structure and costs of the club.It will be a massive feat. As for the players to be sold, that has always been the case since the summer.I dont see it as big news as its been mentioned time and again that players on high wages are free to go. -
Its to stop clubs going into administration to get rid of debt.If only it was in force when Pompey did so.
-
Ive only been ot 1 pre season and enjoyed some of the play by the youngsters, but as Ive already put change may be the only way to keep the club from Admin. I totally agree with both of your sentiments.

A whole post without a swipe at Kelvin, must be a record Derry.Joking aside, I think that we all would love to watch the experiment come into play.Reading normally negative posters saying good things heartens us all. The problem being that the finances are no1 in the clubs/banks mind, it wont matter how good the kids are at present if we go into adminisration we are stuffed and that looks more than likely at present. Also what happens if the kids dont work out, what is plan B?

You dont have to respond , but you cant help yourself you are like my misses .you have to have the last word.
-
Not your load of tripe
-
Thats the problem I cant grasp you at all.

Exit, Liverpool are the prime example how it could have worked. You cant look back from now and make a judgement , you have to remember the times and situation. Both Gray and Wigley were rewarded for loyalty and also having high regard for their coaching in the reserves etc.I had reservations about both but I could see why they were chosen although I wasnt hapy. Wigley was vewry unlucky, but you cnat afford to be unlucky being a football manager.

if the takeover does not happen , then RL will go his own way and not be moved by any fan group. They have contributed in unsettling the fanbase and the club. Saying that it is mainly well meaning hardworking Saints fans who want the best for the club.Sadly they are naive to believe a fan on the board is of use. The powers that be (whoever) will only patronise and then od what they want to do for the best return.
-
but you mentioned the s/ts from under RL that made a difference to the first season down. As you rightly say the early birders are manily the hardcore fans and so the attendances dropping rather than rising when your new lot arrived does not show the common feeling that RL was the reason for attendances dropping. As for your last comment I assume you are beling flippant. If Saints had kept the tickets at the PL price i expect Id still go like a lot of others,it would hurt but Im a victim of being a Saints fan.Giving me and others like me a good discount is not business sense or does your accounting not go to that. Unfortunately the most loyal in football get milked the most.

I would like to be able to put my replies in seperate boxes like you do but dont know how. Dont lecture me on running headlong into peoples arms , you were very vocal telling us how wonderful the Wilde bunch was. Of course a takeover and change of chairman is different, but it is better than the change of ownership ie being in the banks/administrators hands. The new people may be extending debt, we dont know, but if they are I doubt they have a chance of getting the money at this stage, against a business that will lose money for a long time still. Again Im not the person who was duped last time and do not have the ear of any of the protagonists but do through my business know people from both sides who give me the odd snippet. A person from the new lot apparently saying that he didnt now think he would be able to keep us from admin and the banks /bond holders getting edgy is hardly being played and it is not of use to the selling party. Your constant playing the change of managers card is getting boring, for someone who pertains to be bright and then to believe that was the major/only contributor does you no favours.I dislike this government but do accept the current woes, whilst them being major factors have been effected by outside factors out of their control. I could list 10 -20 reasons why we went down, the same could be said for evey club who has been relegated in our lifetimes. When we were relegated under LM we had the Great George Reader as chairman and the Corbetts in the boardroom, was it their fault?

if we sent him free to earn a contract he'd awesome.Give him the contract and then he can lie back and look at his bank statement.
-
Poor mans Scooby. We need money and even RL thinks so.
-
Pedg, I see your point, but Shearer has a fire and I believe he is not one to take lightly. He is now used to the media and after a game might not be so laid back when talking to the press. He is oiin the comfort zone and can be relaxed but put a win on it and he changes.
-
Dont forget the last 2 seasons had the ridiculous early bird s/ts which encouraged many people to buy s/t's but at a low price. The problem being they have a terrible job raising those prices without uproar. The early birders are many of us fans who would pay through the nose and so a major part of the clubs finance is lost. I of course am delighted to have a cheaper football ticket, but in a hard nosed business way we are the ones who normally are milked of money.
-
Pedg, most of what you say I agree with, but the Shearer thing is intriging. We might have missed the boat with him now anyway as he has commitments with the BEEB. as for him being a disaster Im not so sure. Shearer would put us back into the forefront of the media, something fans miss from the PL. He is a winner and like Keane has a steely resolve to win. If we do have money to spend , if a players agent is called and is told Jp is on the line, they might tell him to call back later wheras is Shearer is there he would have instant respect. I quite like the idea of the kids playing fast exciting football but if it goes t###, what is optionB ?
-
UM you know what Im going to say to you about that statement. You and others ran headlong into the arms of the Wilde bunch, much to the despair of fans like myself.Caution was advised but it was 'it can't be worse than under RL.' For some it may have been better but now the chickens are coming home to roost and a takeover with someone taking away the debts would be better than losing 10 points. Reading between the lines and hearing a couple of things said that were from people who really know the situation from the new group, the position is perilous. Beggars cannot be chosers and we need the new people to move IMO, quickly. The bank have given us a little slack but they are cold nosed and if they see a bottomless pit they will act. Our little dabble on the roulette wheel was 2 seasons ago, with a reckless bet that failed, the banker still requires paying.
-
I dont think we have a choice if it is good or bad, the club is in dire financial straits and we cannot pick and choose. The difficult decisions were put off and now we are looking down the barrel of a gun.
-
Ill be glad when you join us again, your stand will not help the club when we really not need it ,but lets hope it is soon.
-
I dont bother with other clubs. Bates brought ticket prices down then did he?,more importantly winning so many games would have made a difference. Are you categorically saying you will be gettoing a S/T when RL leaves?
