  1. Considering he had 13-14 games to get us safe , I do think he was responsible. Like GB/D&G they are all gone and its time to move on.
  2. Fergusons and Cloughs name were brought in by my as an example of managers who are siad to like a drink but were successful. WGS lost interest when Bridgey was sold.He said at the time that as soon as you get close to the big clubs they buy your best players. GB suffered the same and it does sag the morale.
  3. was he the lone Ranger we had at the club?
  4. Is it not the case of a riot by them trying to get out What's the situation regarding sales of tickets for the Community shield, are the prices down to a £5 yet.
  5. serious question, what happened in the Pompey Man u game in Nigeria? I didnt see the result.I did see they had a bumpy landing the day before the game.
  6. Well it seems to me and I believe many others that you are probably the most negative posters on here.Your return has already caused a negativity and that seems to be the shroud you cast on here. We have a new forum and so how about putting some more positives instead of the other negatives. You were not correct with the centre back issue, we had more than enough, it was just a case we had an appalling injury jinx in that position.
  7. IMO Its in your character, You have rarely put up a post that is at all positive.Face to face I have no doubt you're a good well meaning and nice person but on here you always want to erode the fans morale and it is not what we ALL need, club/players /or fans.
  8. look Alpine would have something to moan about if wqe were 50 points clear. Most are willing to give the new lot a chance because it is where we are at. Your points are pertinent but until the season has started why not give the players the club and fans a bit of slack and see.If the kids feel extra pressure because prats are losing their nerve it can only help the opposition and its more likely to fail. Smile and even if you dont totally belive give it a chance.
  9. Its typical of you Alpine. You sit in your armchair and only wish to pick away at the fans morale. Nothing is right , you moan about everthing. Even the Alpine air has not got your mood changed. Its about time you said something positive and stopped sniping at the club.GB has gone and the youngsters are playing a nice entertaining brand of football.Give them 5 games before you start your normal campaigns of strife.
  10. I was one of the few who questioned his ability even when he first came.He missed a couple of sitters in the first leg of the play offs. When he was playing for his contract he showed a lot more, as soon as the contract was signed he lost his zest.
  11. I disagree a WUM does it for fun or devilment Alpine does it because he blieves the cr##
  12. Tiger, I dont think its brave, its a case of putting a fair case on someone who deserves a little evenhandedness. I object to your comments regarding drinking. Nobody has at this time shown evidence or pictures of such things. In this day of mobile phones pictures would be easy to get of a druken person. GB does drink, so do most people here. Brian Clough , Ferguson do the same it never stopped them from doing their job.IMO It was used as an easy way for the less intelligent to try and win an argument. As the club read this site it would be evident to them the accusations and they would have acted had he turned up drunk.Football is full of gossip and Scotland would have known about these alleged things and I beleive would not have considered him if this was the case.It was Chinese whispers of the worst scale. Bale Baird Jones were either overlooked, or bit part players until GB took them and played them regularly. Jones above all was a massive loss last season. GB left the club he is the past lets get on with the future.
  13. The league had to act.Too many clubs like Leicester and Pompey took the easy way out by going into administration to lift the burden of massive debt and hurting small businesses. This meant that well run clubs had trouble getting credit as firms were wary of suppling them only to be bad debts. Now administration is a last resort and suppliers know that they are more likely to be paid and so will supply thm.
  14. No I only see him at SMS. Going to SMS is not all fun you know...only kidding RC
  15. Of course it does but he is the one who has been brave enough to grasp the nettle, unlike others that let things go.Cutting the costs he has to i daunting. Anyway you are just tryng to be argumentative, you know im correct.
  16. Correct. For the first time I get a feel that the players in general are pulling their shirts on with pride and want to do it for us and themselves. The badge kissers are a thing of the past and now we have a will to get it right. I am friends with Bournemouth fans when I asked them why did the do so well last season they said it was because they played the youngsters who genuinely cared for the club.
  17. Cutting costs and so by doing so avoiding the potential -17 or even -10 is a massive feat.If by the skin of our teeth we do so that is something that should be recognised. And no most accountants couldnt do what RL is doing that is why they are accountants.
  18. NP will go down as a success in many fans heads. He took us to the brink of rellegation and 3we were saved on the final day, by a good result. If many fans had their way on that day John would not have been in the team!!! We were fortunate that Sheff utd knew that they wrre playing for nothing second half and eventually let go, add to that BT'S decision to be injured and NP will go doewn in history OK. Had the worst happened then the tame 0-0 draw at home to Coventry and the pathetic results v an unmotivated Cardiff and Burnley home would have more focus.
  19. Cutting costs and making us stable would be a momentous achievement. Already he has turned a fair few of his critics into being fairly excited about the new set up.That again is good.He will p### me off during his tenure there is no doubt but generally that is the way of life and you have to understand most of it will be of benifit. He can see the figures wheras we do not and so he is best positioned to make the decisions. If he gets success on the pitch, although you cannot put that down to him, except se;lecting a the best approach, that will be an added bonus . bournemouth are a warning to us about being so flippant going into administration.
  20. GB did what he could in difficult circumstances. He is now an international manager. It is interesting that all the posts about we mustnt get rid of Rasiak, Saga John etc it is forgotten who brought them to the club.Andrew Davies likewise, his good loan signings, ok Rudi has been poor but there were few who were upset with the deal. He turned Bale and Baird Jones from reserves into muliti million pound sales. The guts were ripped out of the team last summer and GB himself said that a mid table fininsh was what was likely. When he left that is what it was panning out to be. GB is gone get over it. I have.
  21. and deservedly so, if he turns aroud the wage structure and costs of the club.It will be a massive feat. As for the players to be sold, that has always been the case since the summer.I dont see it as big news as its been mentioned time and again that players on high wages are free to go.
  22. Its to stop clubs going into administration to get rid of debt.If only it was in force when Pompey did so.
  23. Ive only been ot 1 pre season and enjoyed some of the play by the youngsters, but as Ive already put change may be the only way to keep the club from Admin. I totally agree with both of your sentiments.
  24. A whole post without a swipe at Kelvin, must be a record Derry.Joking aside, I think that we all would love to watch the experiment come into play.Reading normally negative posters saying good things heartens us all. The problem being that the finances are no1 in the clubs/banks mind, it wont matter how good the kids are at present if we go into adminisration we are stuffed and that looks more than likely at present. Also what happens if the kids dont work out, what is plan B?
  25. You dont have to respond , but you cant help yourself you are like my misses .you have to have the last word.
