Must be me, but I feel he was outmuscled many times, hence how easy it was to get at our back 4. When we have played lower league clubs in the cup, when in the PL, I can't recall him dominating the game. I feel its best he goes to a PL team and hopefully is successful
-
I hope he does, Ive been asking for us to get him for about 18months
-
We need somebody with more authority in the middle of the pitch. JWP will be muscled out of games, IMO Still will be able to pass sideways and backwards though.
-
Imagine how we'd still be enjoying that day had the result gone the right way. I still bathe in glory after 76! And as you say the cup generated a good amount of income.
-
thank you for that. It is unnerving as we need the young to help the aging population, but we also create more conditions for the climate. Add to that if Africa's population doubles the famines etc will get worse.

When i was born in 1959 there were 3billion people in the world, at that stage, there weren't mobile phones, the majority of people in the developed west did not own a car, or television, and had very few luxury consumer goods etc etc. In just 63 years the population has grown to 8bn !! of which these people do have cars and consumables. Thus the emissions have probably trebled. In summary please give us ideas how we can all reduce our consumption by 2/3rds just to get us back to 1960's levels. Sadly I cannot see how we can do so, as the population increases even further. 2050 what will the population be then

Claude Puel helps Southampton forge thrilling new identity | Southampton | The Guardian Read it and see what others thought of him and as I have said previously, that he did play some good football. I agree the last games were poor as we couldn't score but if I recall correctly we missed one or 2 pens
-
The players missed some absolute sitters in many games. We should have gone through if they had done their job
-
Some wonderful football was played under Puel. How many mangers can they say they beat Klopps Liverpool over 2 legs. It wasnt a fluky result we should have scored far more against them. Add to that one of the most entertaining cup finals for years. We also played some decent football eg WHU away. I maintain that the last part of the season we kept drawing and we couldn't get the release of scoring a goal and the pressure released. Had we sneaked a one goal win (missed penalties I think) the feeling would have been so much better. It was like under Chris Nicholl we just couldn't win, then all of a sudden we scored a late goal at home to Newcastle and the pressure cooker was released. Should have given him some more time, if things hadn't improved by Christmas then sack him then

I really have trouble with these projections. Go to Bournemouth or Brighton piers and see how much the water has risen in over 100 years. Are they telling us water levels are going to surge 3 to 4 feet or more in 7 years?????

He hasn't filled out yet. You may have been built like a tank at 19 but most youngsters take a bit if time to develop

Admiral FA cup final kit for me, how can any kit in the history of Saints be any better, also no ads to the front
-
Lol, ah yes the Fitzhugh, the haunt for many a Saints star. I have never visited it. I assume it is still there
-
It was Keith Honey, Lol..........of course it could have been all 3

I think I read/heard that the American owners are difficult. They will look to get the most possible, as we should expect. The club obviously feel confident nobody will poach him before we get this over the line. No doubt other clubs will have seen the last 2 managers we have chosen and so not gagging to pip us to our choice. Not a good sign that we have a free run perhaps, lol
-
If we approach a team for a player I doubt the selling club think a PL club is after him. There again with Ankersen he probably still tells all who will listen he owns a PL club
-
I think a bit of pedant is being played out here.

Anyone else on here used to go up and wait for the players to come out after training and so try and get autographs? All of us milling around the players cars vying to get a picture signed. Most were fantastic with us, Ted Bates always pleasant. Bobby Stokes always chirpy, Mick Channon as well, Big Ron was a bit more stand offish. The alehouse boys always very good. I remember vividly us playing football in the car park and Gordon Honey (Chairman?) come out and tell us all to bugger off. Different attitude to young fans in those days. No doubt we were little sods, but my older brother , Tony Stacey ( now a steward) would walk from Shirley rec area to the Dell car park to wait for them.
-
They also had Decoure who made a massive difference scoring some crucial goals. (amazing how Frank put him in the reserves and blanked him, very much the same as he did to the Chelsea centre back. Both came back into their teams and made massive differences)They also had some last minute goals in games they didnt deserve a point. One of them in the 10th minute of injury time. All made that little bit of difference in the end. Dyche did ok but I dont see him as a wonderful saviour.
-
I think he was on Tina's back. Niemi was a close second. I go back to Gerry Gurr and Eric Martins days. 😃
-
Hey DT I bet you were on Shiltons back lol
-
We will revisit this in a few months, I truly hope I am wrong. I can't say why I believe this to be the case and have nothing concrete,
-
Ian Ure, Jack Charlton spring to mind
-
MY absolute hero. When we would wait in the car park at the Dell after training I used to be so star struck I couldn't speak to him. The amount of autographs I had from him! There used to be a stock image on the back of the echo Id always cut out and put it in my scrapbook for him to sign. Wonderful days when the cynical side of age was not there and I could believe Saints were the best in the world
