The Starmer Years - Can The New Broom Sweep Clean?
OldNick replied to sadoldgit's topic in The Lounge
Is it a safe place though? There is a threat of invasion from a foreign nation. The Rwanda scheme was always a deterrent so that the illegals would look elsewhere. Once they knew they would be sent to a African country without the handouts the lure of the UK would reduce. Then the people already here would be able to integrate and the angst against them would reduce in time. I dont get this about Muslims, they just follow a different god/prophet, the majority are good law abiding citizens, what I dont want is people who are illegally coming into our country, they arrive breaking the law and so already they have no qualms about doing it and so may carry on when they are here. -

All opinions, no doubt you and all the other detractors didnt use the eat out option. I know I did and was thankful for it, I didnt hear ant criticism then. Anyway we move on, I still believe Rishi did well in that period and feel that the medical bods didnt play the game that well and are now whitewashing to suit their reputations. -

I dont believe that they came out looking that clever. It was unprecedented times. As for 'highly likely' extra deaths, they were putting covid as death on anything at that time, an inexact science. I expect mny in the catering industry would now be closed if this scheme wasnt enacted. 2 sides to all stories, mistakes were made and it is easy for the left to point fingers, and perhaps you may have been all for locking down again, and again. -

Lol, I plucked the figure out of the air, It was just a guesstimate but the principle to my mind is the same. I know as a higher tax rate payer I would be delighted for this to be a way of levelling things out and the people struggling at the bottom who work hard would be rewarded (in a way by society for their contribution)and perhaps we all like to put 2 fingers up to the lazy and ones who shirk work. All a pipedream but it would feel good to me -

Yes they have inherited some bad finances, 2 years of Covid would cripple any countries finances. Personally I thought Rishi did well with getting businesses alive with his pay outs and the Eat out deals for restaurants and pubs. Sadly there were people /criminals who took advantage. What does not seem to be mentioned that Starmer and co were calling for another lockdown and would have done so had they had their way!!! Already they have offered 22% wage rise for the junior doctors, oh and now the docs have seen the quality negotiators and going for their slice, then there will be all the other trades going for their bit. It seems to me we are all going to be taxed a lot more, that will find its way to the pay of the public sector workers, therefore we will get no improvement in services but just costing us more. I fully back everyone to get a decent wage and would like tax up to a certain level for those who work to be lost. Perhaps only for people earning up to 20k a year (not for all just those people) make it worthwhile getting up at 6 in the morning to work, rather than them seeing other people laying in bed doing nothing but being in the same position -

KS is probably as disliked as her by the nation, already. Calling people who believe that illegal immigration should be stopped as right wing is ludicrous -
If this is the case it is devastating for Ross, the club, and the fans

It could be somehow argued that this points to the Liverpool defender we have been linked to, not that I get the link lol

I didnt intend that the point of my initial post was that you have to be from Southampton, but as a fan from not one of the non elite clubs there IMO seems more of a bond with other poor souls who also chose our path.

No I'm living in my world where if you cant afford it you cant have it. Just as this player has done well i Scotland it doesn't mean he will do well in the PL. How many of the upper PL clubs are after him? Or is he such a secret we've been incredibly brilliant in finding him? He has a worth and Rodgers is always going to say its not enough, christ do you think hes going to say whoa Saints have offered too much, its negotiation. IMO if he has a choice he will choose Atalanta for lifestyle is the package is similar

I suggest when you are looking forward to jetting off those twats are there disrupting your hard earned rest, you will of course sympathise and wait patiently in the queues as you see your holiday melt away. I dont fly very often and so I can stick 2 fingers up at them as I fill my 1990 Rolls Royce with another tank full of fuel -
Im not from Salisbury

Ahh, I never listened to the Wurzels, although im sorry to say my music knowledge is very poor, music has not been part of my life and rarely listen to it. I know that will be seen as mad but I'd rather go and see a comedian. My friend travels the world to watch Springsteen, even paid to meet him!!! I dont get it.

Crikey, if that distresses you I doubt you leave home. Thinking about it, that may be best for society if you dont
