Apologies if this has been posted ....but this is currently doing the rounds on Twitter: @vintageromelu appears to be with the Saints squad yesterday in France watching training and in their hotel (with a selfie of Gardos and MP). He's tweeted that MP said to him twice "VVD will stay". He has photos and videos from Saints training and went live on Periscope during it. I'm on my phone so not sure if photos upload here, but I upload them for those who don't have Twitter. In the video, they are practicing free kicks and possibly Redmond is taking them fwiw!!

I thought this was going to get brought up. Here goes, as a sportsman, I think it's fkin brilliant we have players competitive, hungry and confident in moments of pressure to want to step up. This applies to both Austin and Tadic tonight. I hope the majority of our fanbase think this. I hope there is 4 or 5 players in training aggressively gunning to be our pen taker. It sets the culture of perform because someone wants your spot throughout the team. That's exactly the culture we need, its not petulance its ruthless competition and something we have been crying out for... When we say "leave on a free" - isn't there a chance, if we keep him until the contract end, we can re-sign him 'on a free' (on admittedly a better wage packet) depending on how well he/we do next season? Does that ever happen? Where we see how well a player/club does and then offer them a deal once out of contract? Sorry if that's a stupid Q

Well done Les and well done VVD for making a great decision. His interview alluded to his life in Southampton was great and loved the place and his family were happy too here, so clearly making a decision based on more than just financial gain.
