The fans of all the clubs with sugar daddies have always lived in denial, the true state of affairs never reveals itself until they pull the plug.
-
a nice gesture lets just hope they get the design right so we can recoup some of the losses with massive sales. Much as I like having a sugar daddy I don't like the idea that were he to withdraw his backing we'd be in a financial mess deeper than absolutely necessary.
-
Can I have some of what your taking? Do you seriously believe that are attendences are supplying enough money to pay the biggest squad in League 1 history that is littered with players who could be playing at a higher level but moved here for the money? Marcus will be subsidising the team quite significantly and were he to withdraw his financial backing tomorrow a firesale would be the order of the day, lets not delude ourselves!

I've supported the saints longer than you've been alive I may not go very often but thats because I'm fully aware that there are more important things in life. -
I was a wee bit young to appreciate Shilts, I do like looking back at our list of past keepers as it contains some absolute quality. Niemi came in at a time when I thought Jones for all his detractors was doing a pretty decent job and would be hard to displace, Niemi managed to make him look incredibly below par and must represent one of the best value for money signings of that era.
-
Niemi is a saints legend and always will be apart from during the 90 minutes of this tie assuming he plays. I'd expect him to recieve a warm welcome and and even warmer departure if we win. During the game I expect him to get some stick nothing like as much as James would have got but he will take some especially if there is a penalty situation. Best goal keeper I've ever seen in a saints shirt so good I can even over look his signing for pompey!

It's frightening to think that we have 41 players on the books with a first team number, that must be the biggest squad outside the premiership!
-
He's young, he's still learning the game and we are asking an awful lot of him. Not only do we expect him to play every game of the season out of position but we expect him to be our major creative force and score more than his fair share of goals. Give him time he has shown obvious class but needs to develop and in all honestly looks desperately in need of a rest at the minute.
-
Lets just get to the final first and then worry about who we are playing! The way some people rounf here are talking you'd think MK don's were going to be a walk over!
-
I think you need to amend it to 'Next Season we will scrape into the play offs before loosing in the second leg of the semi' to me next season is more of a worry than this as I'd more or less accepted that this season was for building I am however yet to be convinced we have a plan and that the manager isn't just randomly aquiring more and more players.
-
I still say we should play a more attaching setup as we clearly can't defend for toffee so we need to be banging in even more at the other end!
-
Pretty shocking state of affairs, I shant be joining those wishing for the death of of our local rivals though. I wouldn't wish what we went through in the summer on the fans of any club and certainly wouldn't want our biggest rivals to disapear for good imagine that the prospect of a big local derby isn't there to keep us interested in the cup draw? I will of course enjoy the usual banter when they get relegated and thrashed a few times on the way down but that is a totally different kettle of fish.
-
We desperately need another centre forward who carries a goal threat, to either come off the bench or fill in for Conolly when he's tired.

Should Pardew rest players in JPT game ahead of Leeds?
a1ex2001 replied to trousers's topic in The Saints
Only players I'd consider resting are connolly and lallana, conolloy could use all the time he can get after such a long lay off and Lallana is only young still and can't be expected to perform every game for a season. -
my thoughts entirely 12th is the next target ie the top half, play offs after that!

Do we still see ourselves as a Big Club when it comes to the FA Cup?
a1ex2001 replied to ozzmeister's topic in The Saints
Let me re-iterate to be clear. We are not a 'BIG' club and never have been. We are a 'MASSIVE club in League one terms' our finances, facilities and fan base make us so. We are a big scalp at this level and I'm sure Rotherham or Luton would take more pleasure indrawing and beating us than some Championship nobody clubs like doncaster or Peterborough. -

a1ex2001 replied to ozzmeister's topic in The Saints
That statement works right up to the point you use it to say it would be a bigger game for us if we drew Hull as opposed to Newcastle. Certain teams maintain a lustre no matter what division they are in and having a big financial backing adds to this, to alot of clubs at this level and velow we are still a massive scalp look at the way Brighton have released a DVD of there victory the other day. We are not a 'Big' club perse and never really have been but we are certainly a big club at this level. -
I'm not going to rule it out until it's mathematically impossible, same with relegation!
-
Personally I couldn't see Kelvin lasting another transfer window after his gesture to the crowd at Sheffield Wednesday a couple of seasons back let alone being made club captain, player of the season and having everyone on here blowing him kisses rather than slating him. Stranger things have happened than a young inexperienced goalkeeper finding his confidence and fullfilling his potential, see the above.
-
I hope he doesn't go but if he does I wish him well and hope we spend thelarge sum of money wisely unlike in previous times.
-
Good news would much rather have poke on the bench than forecast at least he has played some competetive football and if memory served looked pretty decent in the firt team a couple of seasons ago until he played that game with a ridiculous injury.
