Brighton 18th - really?

You know it's bad when that happens. Trying now, cant get the matches to stay alight long enough I'm sure everyone's praying for your balloons Whelk...
-
I'm too shaken up at the moment, may reach out when I feel able.

I was emailed today by the Soton council, bin collections tomorrow suspended due to the wind (or was it Covid and injuries), any excuse not to do their job, falling trees and a maelstrom of wheelie bins were cited. Dunkirk spirit eh ?

I drive a steam engine, a rather convoluted process...

Agree, Adams was generally labelled as not good enough but has improved considerably, having had spells of bench sitting himself. AA has good touch and shields the ball well, he will progress in time, I don't think we've got another Carillo on our hands here. The lad needs good coaching and patience.

There was a "spot the ball" in the Echo as well, people made an art form of drawing the crosses, using microscopes and pens with nibs about a nanometer wide. Given the Echo print pixel size it amounted to massive waste of time generally.

What!!? You mean the crown (Gawd bless 'er) was never banned??

Yep, "our man in Leicester" earning his cash bonuses !

Don't get me started.....

People trying to get through the Itchen bridge toll by waving their credit card at the monitor, for 10 minutes, before pressing for assistance, then fumbling for change, for another 10 minutes, by which time I've nearly run out of petrol.

Just a few posts from the RedCafe forum, er, they're not a happy bunch... "Southampton play like an absolute team. Plenty of hunger. We have no leaders. Not one. Pathetic." "Ronaldo is a horrible footballer. Playing with 10 men every game. Does feck all defensively. Does feck all in link up. Does feck all in hold up. Gives it away constantly. Can't even get shots off anymore. Just fecking bench him until he retires. He's done and he's useless on the pitch." "feck off. Unable to score more than once and can't defend. Useless. Gassed after 45 mins. Top 4 most probably gone."

I think the (Lampards) Everton game will reveal more as to where the team are at the moment. We've shut Citeh out, no easy feat, beaten a poor Spurs side and equalled a disjointed ManU team, all 3 results deserved. It seems to me we're looking to go forward at the first opportunity, rather than the sideways back 4 - back to keeper passing. Aside form Citeh, we're creating a lot of chances, a little more composure and speed of thought should see us scoring lots of goals. Everton will probably press high as they did v Leeds, our passing and movement needs to be good to counteract this. Agree with Stephens in, he's a class WUM and will unsettle Richarlison, who can be a dangerous player. Confidence will be high, we need to win this to keep the momentum going (obviously). Please no tinkering Ralph, same 11 if all fit (10 + Stephens).

I think Crooks should be a permanent fixture on MOTD, he's comedy gold. As for Jenus, I like the guy, nice personality and a reasonable pundit, not in Shearer's league but who knows what he can achieve if he gets his head down, stays free of injury and noncy texts and works hard.
-
I say keep him, is he not too old to improve on the weaker parts of his game?
-
No there isn't. 'Orrible little c**t
-
. Yes I know, but he's been great all season (mostly), the players I mentioned have greatly improved lately IMO, although on the down side I think we've left it too late to catch Citeh, maybe next season....

I think the "big team" bias does exist, some may disagree but on balance decisions do tend to favour a side like ManU, at home, with 70k supporters on the referees back, some of whom actually live in Manchester rumour has it. The last 3 performances form us have been miraculous, where did they come from? I think KWP in particular, playing in his proper role has been fantastic, Perruad continues to grow into a very accomplished player, and Moi looks like a different player suddenly. I so pleased that Adams is getting goals, many doubted him previously, myself included, but the lad is developing into a first class footballer, his attitude, work rate and skill set are improving week on week. From an indifferent spell JWP is now playing his best football and Romeu is a rock in midfield. A mention must go to Forster who has been solid and reliable, we need to get a pen in his hand I feel. And Broja, despite some poor decision making sometimes scares the shit out of any defense. A good spell form Saints, lets enjoy it while it lasts.

Interesting final table from that season, Look who finished 3rd bottom! : http://www.emfootball.co.uk/table1982-83.html The next season we finished runners up behind Liverpool by 3 points. Those were the days I had ST's for a few seasons, so priviledged to see Danny and the many other talented players we had then (Steve Williams in particular, what a player). If memory serves, Danny went to ManU a year before Giggs was coming through so didn't get much of chance there after that.

Do you think Spurs would take Theo as an exchange?
-
why do they want Broja, they've already got Wood. Oh...

I did once playing a match at primary school, didn't do it again..

It's a shame really, Grealish is one of those rare maverick type of players with all the talent in the world, but it seems his first thought on the ball is to fall over and get a free kick, and start the totting-up system against his opponents until one or more get a card. In interviews he seems a genuinely nice lad, although that's hardly an indication. 100M was far too much money, he will never be Messi or Ronaldo, and he's struggling to fit into City's style of play, they bought the wrong player, maybe to stop others from doing so. I'm not happy about the amount of cheating that goes on now, diving, shirt pulls, rugby tackles in the penalty area every corner, feigned injuries, bullying the ref, now we can add pinching, name calling and probably funny looks, together with the VAR lottery and the now enormous financial disparity between the top 6 and the rest. You can never go back but I'd like to see some of the shithousery stamped out, or at least a return of the old leather ball with the laces in it that weighed about the same as a bag of sand when wet?

Welcome to the lower half of the PL sunshine...

Some might say - easy to be generous when your team is gonna win the league by 10 points or more!
