Blocked shots (+6) ?

The regulation army type, or the , er special black ones..?

I'm sure it's no comfort to say " I told you so", the cellotape solution was a disaster waiting to happen. If only, if only....

Poor bugger, driven mad by the loss of his balloons in the storm, looking for someone to blame. I hope he calms down.

Whelk's up for it by all accounts.

Well yes, and not just countries who have troops in a particular area. Would be eye watering to see German troops directly involved. Just saying...

As far as NATO goes, an attack on Latvia = an attack on US, thats the principle of it regardless of what the cossetted western public think about it. As an alliance, NATO has a bigger stick, militarily, financially. Putin knows this , he's ruthless but certainly no Stalin, it could well all unravel for him when Russian citizens start dying on the streets of Moscow at the hands of their own police

When one Russian boot enters a NATO country?
-
I think NATO has every justification in piling in military hardware/troops to its eastern borders ASAP, whilst the Warsaw pact has crumbled NATO is still a legitimate alliance. Whether Putin just wants Ukraine to remain neutral or to gradually reinstate parts of the old CCCP remains to be seen, I don't think the Russian people generally have the stomach for another post war land grab. The old communist idealism has long been dead having proved an utter barbaric failure. The notion of Russian missiles raining down on London while we cower and cry surrender is utter bollocks, the question is not would we be willing to suffer to defend eastern European "backwaters", rather would Putin risk his and his country's downfall for the sake of them. I think not, as bold and ambitious as he may be, he has fewer cards to play than many realise.

Makes you wonder how much of Putins load Trump has taken over the years, so to speak. This will dumfound the rednecks, at least those that remember the body bags returning from gook-land in the name of stopping the pinko dominos falling. Biden's presser was measured, restrained but enough for now. The gambit would be to open talks to grant Ukraine full membership of NATO together with a massive boost in military equipment, but I doubt the West has the balls for that at the moment, although Putins arse might start twitching a bit.

Disturbing article here : https://www.marketplace.org/2022/02/15/will-the-uk-sanction-russian-owned-assets-over-the-ukraine-crisis/ This country's a laughing stock, the money laundering capital of the world, corrupt and incompetent politicians, zero control of our borders even though we're an island , and don't get me started on the state of the roads or the cricket team.

Abramovich may well be on the phone to Putin soon -"Vladamir, stop this madness, they've blocked my Tesco clubcard!"
-
From the link above : The prime minister replied that “Abramovich is already facing sanctions”. Labour MP Chris Bryant later told MPs: “I don’t think Abramovich has been sanctioned”. Mr Abramovich is not listed on the searchable database provided by the UK Office of Financial Sanctions Implementation. The prime minister's official spokesman later told reporters Johnson "misspoke" when he told the Commons that Abramovich was facing sanctions. Fuck me... Putin must be quaking in his boots. Interesting exchange between Putin and poor Sergei in the video, Stalin would have nodded his approval.

Dread to think, we know what happened the last time Poland was invaded..
-
Reckon Putin's got NATO by the balls. The UN may send some observers once the tanks roll in , but I think he'll stop short of a full invasion and Ukraine may have to concede the Donbas region for now or risk all out war, which they will lose. The West cannot intervene militarily , and sanctions may backfire if Putin turns the gas pipes off. He's a cunning bastard that's for sure, but is living in a past cold war dogma which must horrify some in the Russian government. I say just dock Chelsea 20 points and claim a moral victory.

Talking of players and , er, the odd tipple, Shilton used to drink at the Malthouse near Romsey, and would often have to be carried to a taxi on a friday night. Only to be between the sticks a few hours later , 3pm Saturday. How the f*** he managed it I'll never know.

Got to feel sorry for the lass in the NZ v USA game today

Clinical is all I can say -
The noise level form us was pretty impressive, apart from the odd sporadic chant Everton were very quiet which surprised me, although they were being outplayed for much of the game. There is a limit to football songs, OWTS will be here forever, although I must say I'm long bored of the "fathers gun..." song. Miss the que sera sera song, mainly in cup games with everyone waving their scarves around their heads, and remember knees up mother brown with the west stand pogoing, wouldn't really work in the seats we have now! And who could forget the memorable "your going home in a Hampshire ambulance" (in D major).

She looks like a bloke in drag to me..

The United Kingdom and the Death of Boris Johnson as we know it.

And it wasn't a multiple choice paper and was told he couldn't write in crayon. -
Which Everton duely did, it was around 67mins IIRC, we were looking comfortable and Everton were going nowhere, so the "break" should have benefited them as much if not more. It didn't because we were the better team. Our players took some pretty hefty challenges yesterday.
-
I see you know your Nietzsche, impressive.

Aside form all else, we out-muscled Everton today, particularly Romeu who seems to relish the mini battles in midfield, our tails are well and truely up and it's showing in the commitment. I love KWP, what a player he is developing into, boundless energy, skill to pass a player and a terrier in tackles. SA back to his best with great bursting runs, Salisu took some hammer today but was solid as ever. For most of the game we made a "resurgent" Everton look like relegation fodder (0 shots on target), and lastly a big shout for Long, much maligned over the years but still has much to offer in the limited game time he gets now, very good intelligent header at the back post sealed the points - the team were overjoyed for him you could see.

Please don't tell us you weren't insured ?

I love that kid in the crowd in the Saints pic, to the left of the corner flag.
