Liverpool fans reading this thread, you should be questioning your club on how they went about trying to obtain VVD via using the media early June. Your clubs sporting director Micheal Edwards knee deep in creating the situation that meant VVD could not be sold. Obviosuly, VVDs agent wasserman are also guilty in unprofessional behaviour, but the buck stops at Edwards and Klopp.

You could say the statement is well scripted by wasserman and designed to wind everyone up and its done the job. However, we know that this transfer request changes nothing as VVD would have needed to give up any current contract money to move anyway. The club now clearly needs to refuse the transfer request and highlight his newly signed contract and that they expect him to be available for selection etc etc

The Koeman stuff is wrong, yes we could have matched his big Everton wages. But the most important factor on him leaving was that he thought (and hes probably right) that he couldnt take the club any higher. He had broken records and with more players wanting to leave, he didnt want to damage his managerial CV. His Everton CV now wont look good unless they win something as hes unlikely to better Moyes league finishes. Players going is one thing, its the replacements that clearly must be 'like for like' and i dont think over the last couple of seasons thats happened.

The only way an owner could 'invest' in a club for players is commercial revenue, Liebherr invested a wack of money on staplewood as thats not part of FFP and she has slowly been getting it back.

I suspect liverpool have only offered around £55M anyway, they have clearly used the media to highlight that VVD only wants to join them, so there is no auction to push the price up.

Poor thats its the same sponsor, i would have expected a separate deal to maximise revenue. I also find it strange that sponsors are missing from shop training gear in recent seasons.

Transfer request you say ? pretty pointless affair at SFC as its a given if you want to leave anyway. So its meaningless in other words.

Just for reference the Liverpool Echo is owned by 'Trinity Mirror' and its national papers are obv the mirror and people, so thats why there has been plenty of crossover and comment about VVD from them.
