  1. Times have changed since the days of the "gentleman" directors such as Alan Woodford, Basil Bowyer and George Reader. You need a hard-nosed businessman at the helm and that's what we've got. He doesn't need to be popular - he's judged by results and he's doing OK so far.
  2. Whole Lotta Rosie by ACDC
  3. Once you get past Chilworth roundabout, you enter that strange land known as "The North".
  4. We were playing Notts Forest and I missed a goal.
  5. He didn't actually live in Romsey.
  6. As someone commented on the Echo website, any liner calling at Liverpool will be found up on bricks with the propellers missing.
  7. Has he been seen in Sainsburys yet? Or would he be a Waitrose type?
  8. I'd agree with that, along with Marion's goal against the Skates.
  9. Don't let them fob you off with "it's the manufacturer's responsibility". Under the Sale of Goods Act the retailer is fully responsible for getting it sorted.
  10. Chevvys Cafe Woolston for a REAL english breakfast.
  11. Thanks for the advice everyone. I sent them a letter notifying them of my intentions and they've now paid up.
  12. Oo stickers........scary!!!
  13. Got a radio/cassette from about '79 still going strong. At work we've got an HP Laserjet 4 from '94 in daily use - just never goes wrong.
  14. A good choice. I found Tony Adams autobiography a good read. He comes across as an intelligent, thoughtful bloke and he doesn't shy away from his past problems with booze. Doesn't try and blame anyone else although it did seem to be a bit of a culture at Arsenal at the time.
  15. I'm actually a one-legged lesbian single mother asylum-seeker.
  16. Anyone ever used it? I'm in dispute with a company over a service that they cocked up. They're refusing to refund me and even contradicting their own literature. The amount of money in dispute is relatively small, it's more a point of principle than the money. Is it easy and, in the unlikely event that I lose, how much could it cost?
  17. In his later years, Benny had a house in Westrow Gardens near The Dell. When my nipper was young, we were always on the Common with a kite or football etc and often saw Benny out for a stroll.
  18. Danny Invincible
  19. Malcolm Waldron
  20. Bought an LG 37" last year. Pleased with it - good picture and loads of inputs (USB, ethernet etc). Comes with software to run on a PC so that it acts as a media server so you can watch films or look at your holiday pics. Or you can just stick them on a memory stick and plug it in. You can buy a dongle for wireless connection to your router but it's about £80. I just ran an ethernet cable. Also has NetCast which gives access to Youtube, Facebook, Google Maps, BBC iPlayer and other stuff. One drawback, and common to many flatscreens, is that the sound isn't brilliant. External speakers will fix that.
  21. You sir, have style!!
  22. Do you think it's a bit late to be naming the ground? It's been the Rose Bowl for so long and that's how everyone refers to it. A bit like when Rupert wanted the Friends Provident Stadium. Everyone still called it St Marys. I suppose that the sponsor pays for his name to appear in newspaper reports and on TV. The ordinary fan will still call it the Rose Bowl.
  23. So, if Cameron fell on his sword, who'd they pick as new leader?
  24. My lad started around 7 years old. This was in the mid 90's when MLT was in his prime and I was pleasantly surprised at how many of the kids at his junior school were Saints fans, very few Man U glory hunters. Has it been the same in the last few years when we've been in the doldrums or have they been swayed by the more "glamorous" clubs?
  25. Same for me but at the end of the 50's. Dad would lift me over the turnstile and I'd sit on his lap up in the East Stand. Loved it from the first game (I think we lost to Port Vale). Had a brief lessening of enthusiasm in my teens due to something called "girls" but soon saw the light and have never looked back.
