I've got a spare Megatrain ticket Southampton Central to Waterloo on Nov 30th at 12.55. £5.00 but you'll have to meet up with me and the missus as we have to travel together. PM if interested.

Interesting number that. The leavers are always moaning about bloated EU bureaucracies. 24000 to administer 28 countries with a population of just over 500 million. Hampshire County Council employ 37000.

Mine had chicken pox and, although he had a few spots, he didn't seem to be at all affected. He gave it to me and I had spots in places that I didn't think was possible, couldn't sleep because of the itching and generally felt like death warmed up for 3 or 4 days.

I tried saintsplayer.com yesterday. It cost 99p for the day and it was a good quality stream. It did freeze on 2 occasions but a quick refresh fixed it straight away. I'd definitely use it again.

The first 18 years are the worst. More seriously, I found the first 6 months a bit boring but, once they start to react with you, it fascinating to see them develop. They are like little sponges soaking up knowledge. Make the most of these years. They go by very quickly and, before you know it, they've turned in to a stroppy teenager.

I've just finished reading "In Plain Sight: The Live and Lies of Jimmy Savile" by Dan Davies. It's an absorbing account of how Savile wormed his way into the places that would give him access to vulnerable young girls. Thatcher was determined to put him forward for a knighthood and, although senior civil servants managed to block it for 4 or 5 years (as they'd heard the rumours), she eventually got her way. A lot of the establishment refused to see what he was like, the Police, BBC, Prince Charles and the Duke of Edinburgh were all taken in. Someone who wasn't was the Captain of the Canberra. On a Mediterranean cruise, Savile groped a 13 year old girl. She told her parent who protested to the Captain. He told Savile that he was leaving the ship in Gibraltar and would have to make his own way home. P&O then banned him from all of their ships. Well worth a read.

As someone with a statistical background, I'd be interested to see how they compiled this chart. What's a Silver Sozzler? An alcoholic OAP?

Wherever did that come from?

Where do you get 500000 from?

Indeed, it is perfectly reasonable to hold that view but it's equally reasonable to hold the opposite. There is no concrete evidence to support either side. We won't know until it happens. But if you think that our problems with the NHS, housing and schools will magically disappear when we leave, I think that you may be in for a disappointment. Government policy has a far greater effect on these issues than immigration.

You said in a previous post that she was elected by her party and MPs. The rules state that when the candidates were reduced to 2, the ballot would go to the party members but this never happened so the party members never got the chance to vote. David Cameron was elected by the members in postal ballot where he defeated David Davis.
-
I never said that we did. A previous poster said that May was elected (as a leader) by her party. She wasn't, the party members had no opportunity to vote.
-
The Tories and Labour both have their rival factions but they don't go around thumping each other. According to Sky News, it was a single punch and he hit his head on metal bar and collapsed 30 minutes later.
-
She wasn't elected by her party. Leadsom withdrew from the final round which was when the party members would have voted, so May became leader by default.

Perusing the weekends papers, there appears to be a split developing in cabinet. The Chancellor says that the negotiations should prioritize free trade even if we have to compromise on immigration whereas Liam Fox says that we should prioritize immigration whilst compromising on free trade. Boris will agree with whoever is likely to further his career.
-
This report says that a reduction in immigration will ease pressure on public services. Yet where the government could have reduced the numbers ie non-EU immigrants, it's done absolutely nothing. The net figure has been around the 200k mark since the late nineties. And who's been in charge of immigration for the last six years?. Theresa May, and she's achieved sod all. Now that she's finally woken up, she's targeting students coming to UK universities. These pay higher fees and are helping to subsidise UK students so you may wonder where the logic is in that. But when did logic ever have a place in politics?
-
If they had been so concerned about immigration, why have the non-EU figures been around the 250000 mark each year since the early 90's? That's where we do have control yet they've done nothing to reduce it.
-
She also refused to rule out contributing funds to EU programmes after Brexit, despite the money paid to Brussels being another major issue in the referendum debate. Also would not guarantee to meet the Vote Leave pledges of £100 million a week for the NHS or a cut in VAT on energy bills. Apparently, Nigel Farage is "very angry".

Don't the Fire Brigade charge for putting out chimney fires? I know they do in Ireland as it is seen as negligence on the part of the householder. -
One person's "slagging off" is another's justified criticism. How do you draw the line? We should be able to respect other people's views even if we disagree, and not descend to childish insults. Unfortunately, the skill of rational argument seems to be lacking in some of the tossers here.
