Maybe a vacancy at Chelsea soon.

    Coronavirus

The teacher's unions did ask for this but it was turned down. It's obvious by now that this government is reactive not proactive. It waits until hospitals are bursting at the seams before it acts. We appear to be heading for a national lockdown with maybe stricter measures. But Boris is frightened by his own MPs and will only act when his hand is forced by the worsening situation.

    Not the New Forest.
  5. Most people now think it was the wrong decision. The TImes YouGov poll in November showed 38% thinking that it was the right decision and 51% the wrong decision. Only 4% think that the Government are handling things "very well" with 56% thinking that they are handling it "fairly badly" or "very badly".
  6. There is no trade surplus of fish with France. We import very small quantities from France but export a considerable amount ( as there is no market for a lot of it in the UK). If that market is closed off or hit by tariffs, it'll be UK fishermen who will lose out.
  7. Don't forget the need to control our borders: https://newsthump.com/2020/12/21/brexiters-left-stunned-after-several-eu-countries-demonstrate-easy-control-of-their-own-borders/
  8. Can you provide any evidence of your assertions about the BBC apart from the right-wing press. Still haven't seen any facts that prove that everyone in the Treasury was a "remoaner"? Are you incapable of putting forward a cogent argument without the infantile names.
  9. The most probable one is the one with the highest statistical significance. You still haven't produced any evidence (as opposed to supposition) that everyone in the Treasury is "remoaner to the core. Does that include the tea ladies?
  10. There are a range of outcomes and a probability with a statistical significance is assigned to each. The most probable is the one that is quoted. What evidence can you provide that everyone in the Treasury is a "remoaner to the core". Have you spoken to them all? If you have, how do you know that they're telling you the truth. I suggest that your statement is largely guesswork.
  11. Forecasting doesn't just use one set of parameters, they are made with a wide variety of parameters to provide a range of different outcomes. We cannot predict the future, but modelling techniques and the increasing use of AI can be a useful tool in planning. If they were as useless as you believe, nobody would use them.
  12. You said "And forecasts for periods like 15 years are as worthless as long range weather forecasts." So what actual evidence are you basing this on? Governments and commercial organisations all use mathematical modelling to forecast future trends. That's how they do planning. You're saying it's all bunkum, based on what?

Strange that Basildon Council (Tory controlled) closed 25 of it's schools early but Islington (Labour Council) gets threatened with the law. Another sensible decision by the Fireplace Salesman of the Year.
  14. Don't change the subject. You said that 15-year forecasts were useless. Using your impressive academic qualifications and access to sophisticated computer modelling, what do you think will happen?
  15. So it could be even worse then?
  16. She did really well with Japan. If we'd stayed in the EU the Government reckoned that our GDP would have benefited by £2.6 billion over 15 years (using the EU-Japan deal). The new deal will increase GDP by £1.5 billion over the same period. So a loss of £1.1 billion. Also we wanted quotas on some agricultural products to have lower tariffs. The EU already has them. Japan has said we can have any quotas that are left over if the EU doesn't use all of them.
  17. Always seemed like a decent bloke. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/55300386
  18. Probably annoyed because his socks had shrunk in the wash.
  19. A few in the Itchen. Presumably corporates.
  20. I was due at 10.30 but got there at 11.00 and joined quite a long queue. The stewards were telling everyone with earlier slots to join a much shorter queue so it didn't take long to get inside. Everything was very relaxed but well-organised with no jobsworths. I'd done my form online so it was just a case of a temperature check.
  21. I'm supposed to be there at 10.30. I'll probably be stuck in traffic 😉
  22. There's also a bit on the Club site about having to use the NHS Track and Trace App. I haven't got it as my phone is about 3 years old. So I assume there will be some form filling to be done.
  23. They are just following the Government regulations.
  24. Same as mine. It says that the actual ticket will be available in 3 days.

Calling public sector workers "yoghurt knitters" denotes a somewhat immature attitude. It's quite possible to put forward a cogent argument without resorting to childish insults. It just weakens your case.
