Yesterday was an interesting time for anyone contemplating a holiday this year. In the morning on Radio 4 Grant Shapps told us that nobody should be booking holidays either domestically or internationally. A few hours later we had Matt Hancock saying that he'd booked his in Cornwall. Then at lunchtime a No. 10 spokesman said that booking was "a choice for individuals" to be followed by Boris at 5pm "just too early" to do anything. Nothing like a clear coherent policy is there?

Got my first jab today. Very well organised, in and out in about 15 minutes. Steady stream of people, probably doing about 1 every 2 or 3 minutes. Just shows what happens when you let the NHS get on with it rather than outsourcing it to some Tory MP's window cleaner.

In a war film anyone showing a picture of their wife and kids is doomed.

It was a flop then. .

At this moment, I'd be delighted with 0-0

Might have lost one or two forum members after this: https://newsthump.com/2021/01/30/tragedy-as-daily-mail-readers-wank-themselves-to-death-after-eu-finally-makes-mistake/

11/09/58. Port Vale and we lost 0-3. Derek Reeves up front and a young Terry Paine on the right wing. I was 8 and my dad got me in for free. 5 days later we played them away and and lost 4-0.

I had a text yesterday from my GP practice inviting me to go online to book my jab. About 90 minutes later (before I'd booked my appointment), I had another text telling me that my appointment had been cancelled and I should wait until they contacted me again. I was speaking to my GP this morning on an unrelated matter and mentioned this. She said that the appointment system was "having problems".

I'm not surprised. I can see the resemblance to your oft-used term "pony".

The vaccination programme is going well because the NHS has been given the resources it needs. Contrast that with the farcical test-and-trace and world-beating app which were farmed out to private companies. Also the many PPE contracts awarded to companies with no experience in that field because they were mates with a Tory MP. If they'd had their way, the vaccination contract would probably gone to a plumber from Scunthorpe who'd fixed an MP's toilet.

Don't you dare come on here with your positivity!

The Cheshire Cheese Company sells gift boxes of cheese in to the EU. They normally retail at £25 to £30. Now each box requires a health certificate costing £180. DEFRA advised them to relocate. So now they've abandoned plans to spend £1m on a new warehouse and employ 30 more staff. and are looking to move to France.

Because he's incapable of putting his views over without using childish language. You can draw your own conclusions as to the reasons.

That's a relief!

The annoying thing is that he can be a very good player when he wants to be. I remember watching his first game at St Marys and the guy next to me saying that, if we weren't careful, Liverpool would come sniffing around. He really did look a good prospect.

Depends how many half-wits are about.

It's expensive to ship empty containers. They take up the same amount of space but have no valuable contents.

You have a unique style of argument. Just say that everything is bollox. I suppose it saves you having to think.
-
He said "We do not anticipate any increase in customs costs in the year ahead". Anticipate? He signed the Agreement, so you would expect him to know.
-
Boris said we would have tariff-free access to the EU. I'm not surprised because Boris is not strong on detail (bit like Trump) and tends to say what he thinks people want to hear which, in this case, was wrong.

It's not just the form filling but the possible delays. But you know better than KPMG and the University of Nottingham. Based on what?
-
So what has he got wrong? The level of exports? The new regulations? The cost of the form filling came from studies by KPMG and the University of Nottingham and includes costs if goods have to be held for inspection. But of course, you know different based on nothing.
-
Current customs data is evidence. The assumption is that this year's figures will be similar. The new regulations are fact. You're saying it's "total bollox" is based on absolutely nothing. Like most people who can't put forward a logical argument, you resort to childish insults (a sorry bunch).

If you buy something from an EU-based website, you now have to pay custom charges, despite Boris claiming that his last-minute deal would give tariff-free access (he does have a tendency to lie through his teeth. So that should reduce imports by a minute amount.
