Did you know that there is a nuclear bunker (disused) under Wentworth golf course? ecuk268 - Purveyor of useless information to the Nobility and Gentry.

Interesting bit where he says that Souness was supposed to have a group of wealthy Israeli backers to invest in the club. However our wonderful chairman, Mr Askham and his chums decided to go with Rupert. Nothing to do with the money they would make from their shares of course.

Is it still OK to park at the top end of the Marks and Sparks car park?? I've parked there OK for Sunday games.

They were talking to a Lockerbie resident on Radio 4 this morning. He said that they viewed it as an accident as whoever set the bomb didn't do it so the plane would crash on Lockerbie, that was just a side effect. Most Lockerbie people had no problem with him being sent home to die. Many of them thought he was innocent. I wouldn't discount the hand of the CIA in this. In the 80's Reagan was desperate for an excuse to attack Libya. I saw a very interesting documentary on the shooting of PC Yvonne Fletcher which produced evidence that the bullet could not have been fired from the embassy but from another building which had been rented by some secretive american gentlemen.

Got mine from Amazon yesterday. A good read with some amusing anecdotes. He emphasises his love of fast food and his dislike of training when it involved running. Get a copy - you'll enjoy it.

Come on - don't you realise that everyone on here is a top-class football manager with long successful careers? They all know better than AP, especially after the game has ended. It's so obvious that a new manager should instantly transform a team. Look at Lawrie Mac. Oh, he got us relegated in his first season.

The one I went to (not with Ryanair) was about a 15-minute train ride from the city centre.
-
I was reading an article titled "20 reasons not to fly Ryanair" One of them was that their advertised flights to Frankfurt went to an airport 80 miles from the city.

I see a Tory MEP has been in the US saying that the NHS has been "a 60-year mistake". Cameron is now sh*tting himself as he knows that other Tory MPs agree with this fella. See BBC website to read all about it. Maggie Thatcher ****ed it up when she decided that the NHS should be run as a business. The trusts were set up with no accountabilty to local people and were supposed to buy services from the hospitals. This therefore required layers of highly paid "management" who seemed to be immune from dismissal. Before Thatcher, we had local health authorities who were semi-democratic in that they had some local councillors as members. Tony Blair promised to reverse the semi-privatisation in 1997, but later reversed his decision.

This sounds like a reasonable idea. I bought my house from a GP and he told me that about 50% of the people he saw didn't need to see him, whatever they had would get better on it's own. It would deter those who see their GP for trivial complaints. As long as the genuinely poor were not deterred from going to the doctor, this may work.

Chris Nicholl had played 4-2-4 away at QPR the week before and we'd stuck 4 past them. So he kept it the same for Liverpool and even Kenny Dalglish grudgingly admitted that it could have been 6 or 7. Liverpool were one of the top sides in Europe at that time and we completely out played them.

If you're with Virgin on their XL package, you get ESPN, ESPN HD, ESPN Classic and ESPN America for free.

Grown men sticking their heads up each other's bums. The public schools have got a lot to answer for.

Being one the the more mature (ie. older) members of the forum, I can remember when KP actually played a game for Hampshire.

I think you should be banned for libelling God's Chosen City, the jewel of the South Coast. I lived in Ryde for 9 years and, while it was OK in the summer, the winter was a bit deadly. Also, if you wanted to go anywhere, the ferries were expensive and added an hour each way on to the journey. To be fair, I left in 1985 and since then it's gained a lot of the big chain stores so shopping's a lot better. The people are OK but they can be a bit inward looking, probably the same for all small islands.

He's 48 tomorrow. Happy Birthday, Alan.

Depends what he wants. At his age, this will be his last big contract. He'll be on Premiership wages and, although he probably knows he'll not be first choice, financial security is probably his priority.

Basically, the west of the Avenue has Virgin fibre. They intend to do the rest of Southampton but won't give any timescales. I've been with them for years (telephone, TV and broadband) and have had very few problems.

This is true. Being married to an infant teacher, my wife has seen many cases of irate parents coming in to complain that their little treasures have come home with a scratch on their leg.

I bought 3 high-value items from different retailers over the internet on one afternoon and paid by Abbey debit card. The payments were blocked. When I phoned Abbey, the said that they blocked them because they were different from my normal spending pattern and it could have been someone using my card fraudulently. I confirmed that they were genuine and all was OK. At least they're looking out for dodgy payments.

No one elected John Major when Thatcher got the boot.
