Believe it's next week
-
Same guy who is supposedly a fountain of knowledge claimed that Butland to Villa was a done deal a week ago, and has been stringing out a so-called agreed deal between Saints and Brum for Adams.. And people still believe accounts like this
-
Because Sheffield Utd won't pay his £70k-ish a week? Nor would any club who would realistically be interested. Quite likely we'll end up paying a chunk for the rest of his Saints contract IE next summer. I'd really wouldn't be surprised as it's just a year left on his deal, we either loan him out with full wages paid by the other club, OR it's a permanent on say £5-6m with a contribution towards his wages.
-
£10m is a daft price, but then it's only a first counter offer, same as going in low for a buy. I'm sure if £5m came in with the majority of his wages paid, I'd think they'd accept.
-
If he would leave Saints because he so-called can't get his own targets, I somehow doubt he's going to pitch up at Newcastle where he would get less of a say in transfers...
-
Yeah it's this I reckon. He's probably like Lemina; you'd put him in amongst our better players, but he's one you could get away with selling and actually has a market. If selling Boufal allows us to be a bit more cash fluid and bring in Adams and someone else, I'd be all for it really.
-
This sounds like code for we're not going to be mugged off, but we'll make a final offer that'll make them think. Might just be me but I'm still fairly confident we'll get this one sorted. If not, there are other strikers. Do like the idea of signing young English players, but can't fault Birmingham wanting big money, considering Brentford want £20m for Maupay at a similar age and goal tally.
-
Sums it up for me. When Targett's been alright, it's been as a wingback. Him in 4-2-2-2 would frighten the life out of me. If we're selling our best LB, we need a new LB. It's as simple as that.
-
If £15m was the second offer, Birmingham would probably ask for £18m. You can only go up...
-
The only ones I can ever remember was Tadanari Lee and Dani Osvaldo. So it's probably a good thing we don't...
-
IIRC, Sven Claes was the guy who reported Alderweireld to Saints and then subsequently to Spurs. So he's worth listening to
-
Admittedly not seen much of him, but given his pace might be more of a 'Ralph' left back than Targett is. Whether he's ready to be second choice is another matter..
-
If as we all suspect it is going to be a difficult window in getting rid of the deadwood (Carillo, Hoedt, Forster etc), getting £12-15m for a back-up left back is probably a wise decision; we'll probably need a new LB next summer anyway especially as Bertrand is probably going to be gone, given he'll have a year left. That's only a guess on my part though.

Not sure on deadlines for Premier League but it's the third saturday in May for the Football League, I think. Having said that the only senior player out of contract is Steven Davis, who has already signed a contract at Rangers, so it's not going to be a thriller...
-
A comfortable season at say 12th would be my realistic hope. If we can have a transition year of clearing the deadwood out but keeping ourselves well above danger, with a few decent results here and there, and a half decent FA Cup run, that'd do me.
-
Schneiderlin being a prime example, and Big Vic albeit not at the same level of performance or consistency.
-
You say that, but the odds are that if the story is true and we're willing to spend that kind of money he won't be unknown to the scouts. Mind you we watched Elyounoussi for six years and look how that's ended up

Le Soir in Belgium are reporting we have offered €23.5m for Standard Liege's Moussa Djenepo. https://www.lesoir.be/222439/article/2019-05-06/mercato-southampton-offre-235-millions-pour-djenepo Never heard of him, but Google says he has 11 goals in 38 games this season (3 in 5 in the Europa League) and plays in any of the three positions behind the striker.
-
Never really been a Long lover as such, but I'd be inclined to keep him. Of the options we currently have, Ings surely won't go anywhere this summer so it's the other three of Long, Austin and Gallagher who could be replaced. Austin doesn't fit Ralph's style and Gallagher doesn't look like he's fancied, so surely they'd be out of the door first. Long will never be the 12-15 goal a season striker we crave, but at least he's shown so far that he fits and doesn't seem the type to rock the boat if he's backup to someone. He's worth keeping around for me, even if that means letting him leave on a free at the end of the season.
-
Can someone explain to me why Lewis Dunk is so highly rated on here? He seems pretty average to me; he's playing in a team that defend deep where all he has to do is head it away.
-
Definitely, could easily become a top Championship CB. Whether or not he's willing to drop a level wages wise is probably the bigger problem.
-
Exactly- he's saying what he's said to focus a few minds, get the point or two we need and then it's job done. Yes we're still in a position where we need to be careful, but there's a reason the bookies are putting us at 150-1 despite a few wallies reckoning we're going down.
-
That would be really, really odd; probably not as odd as Armstrong being described as a 'proven success', mind...

It's mainly the online-only games that would be the issue I would imagine, so games like Fortnite or Apex which are really popular atm. Most of FIFA and Call of Duty etc are mainly online-only now anyway, so restricting wifi would stop most of that.
