  1. Yep we need a sloth up front .
  2. It is easy to see that everyone has an inbuilt bias , unconscious because it is how you see the world . Now can it be measured ? I would say not . We used to subjected to tests at work to find out what you thought and would you fit in to the required requirements for the job . It was a timed questionnaire which after a few questions I had no idea what box to tick as reason wasn’t involved. Needless to say I wasn’t scored highly , a bit of a joke as I already had position ! Other , in my opinion top managers , got sidelined because of the same test .
  3. It has to be put in law before companies change , the Equal Opportunities Act was a good start although it turns out the Queen had an escape clause put in for the royal household as they were all white at the time ! Big business inc football clubs do all the PR stuff but the inequalities remain . Our current govt has learnt from the Trump advisers that if you start a culture war then you can sit back while both sides attack each other which makes the situation worse ,so you don’t have to address the problem . This has been demonstrated on here where we are throwing accusations at each other till we reach the usual stalemate . In football it is down to the clubs to ensure there are equal opportunities at their club , no need for gestures then .
  4. Right , I just read that they still had to pay the rest of the money so assumed it was staged payments to L pool
  5. Plus they still haven’t been paid all the money yet by cash strapped Barca !
  6. Aston Villa are expected to pursue a deal for Norwich's English midfielder Todd Cantwell, 23, if Grealish completes his £100m move to Etihad Stadium. (Sky Sports)I know it's Sky Sports but perhaps Villa not 100% after JWP
  7. Is that the same as having long Covid . ?
  8. Was JWP the smokescreen ?
  9. He looks like he’s thinking “ what have I done?”
  10. Even Rabb said this year , judge the economic success in 10 years time ! Hope I last long enough to enjoy the 'fruits' of Brexit.
  11. See above, attitudes were different when we were at school in the 60s/70s , what you could read in the papers then were totally different and would be considered pretty racist now . So I’ve moved on from then was my point .
  12. I was referring to the 60s and 70s when attitudes were different , I like to think I’ve moved on from there ! The Qatar issue is a different problem , if English footballers wanted to boycott it I imagine they would be penalised by FIFA and they would carry on without us .
  13. The tweets are just a small part of the issue so the “it’s just a few tweets , most from non uk accounts” doesn’t negate the problem . The message is not that our country is an oppressive racist society but that racism does still exist in our country . It is slowly improving (I include myself in that ) but some more work is required . We are not helped by May’s hostile environment or stop and search bias or even COVID on the spot fines bias .
  14. I thought the Prem teams would stop taking the knee this season and take another route more aligned with the kick it out program to disconnect from the political side and promote equal opportunities in UK football at all levels of the game.
  15. Least racist society on the planet ? What planet do you think we are on ?? Certainly not the worst that is true but just remember recent events such as the Windrush scandal which hasn’t been resolved by a long way due to the home offices reluctance to do the right thing plus Boris’s pseudo investigation into race bias which has thoroughly discredited . The divide you refer to is the Govt’s official culture war policy because they think there’s votes in it , supporting slave trader statues and glorifying the empire is their stance .
  16. Beaten to it by Whelk !
  17. You will all be pleased to hear all Prem teams will be taking the knee this season , Ha Ha .
  18. I always feared Sir Lambert would be too slow for the next league up , fortunately I was wrong every time !
  19. In the Guardian today the article about Kane says he has learnt from previous transfers of Berbatov , Modric and Bale that you have to “go on strike” when dealing with Levy if you want a move . I assume from Levy’s angle he can squeeze more cash out of the deal while looking like you are desperately trying to hang on to said player.
  20. Lewis Hamilton also went wobbly after the Hungarian GP , dizzy and blurred vision , he’s suggesting Covid still affecting him.
  21. Sounds familiar , player thinks he has a gentleman’s agreement to leave , club start briefing against him , player has fit (Morgan) but stays another season but career peters out . Other player has fit and forces move , career gets better (VVD) . Well roughly ! No one knows what Kane has been promised but it could backfire and he is stuck with Spuds .
  22. Manchester City will end their pursuit of Tottenham striker Harry Kane, 27, if they sign England team-mate Jack Grealish, 25, from Aston Villa. (Manchester Evening News)
  23. It was reported a few days ago that he would be missing the start of the season due to recovery time after the Euros but it didn't say who he wouldn't be starting for !
  24. But an unsettled player may be going through the motions until his season is clear . I think he has played for us several times below 100% fitness but he would a good member of our squad this season .
  25. 1986 hmmmm ! It seems other leagues in Europe don’t think it’s too old for a season or two !
