  1. It’s nothing to do with liking it more that it is incorrect to take the example of a few twats on Twitter , that are so dim they couldn’t work out they might be identified , as evidence that it’s only a very small problem.
  2. Like most of this thread , constant repetition is the sign that a thread needs retiring Not that keeping on saying it makes it true.
  3. I think you have got the wrong end of the stick , my very point is that those people who are not well off but own their own home will still lose out under this scheme . There is a proposed £85k limit , loose change for some but unaffordable for others plus the scheme is only offering to pay for CARE not accomodation or meals etc . So a good scheme for the well off !
  4. Yes lounge material, we are getting a full on smokescreen at the moment. The cash will keep NHS ticking over for now until the real deal is revealed which is to let rich people keep their houses etc while we pay for their care . Poor people will be still strapped as they won’t be able to afford a top up to the council contribution that continues to the cut off point ie £100k or whatever is decided.while richer people can afford to contribute so will still whinge but won’t have to sell their £1M pound empty houses so the family can inherit the wealth, subsidised by us tax / NI payers.
  5. Reading about peoples first hand experiences is always an eye opener , I have always read a great deal more so since retirement but would be pretty selective from their list ! It's well intended but I can't imagine many people taking any notice , probably more posters have read it on here than in the NHS.
  6. Ha ha ! Thanks ! 🙂
  7. Never mind we will just have to agree to disagree and stop taking up space on here .
  8. Er the police don’t just decide out of the blue to stop someone , they have a profile which they are working to . So I am not saying these institutions are rotten to the core just that they have a bias . It is not the fact that there are a few racists on board but that the system has developed with a bias . Not easy to identify or correct but still needs looking at. I’m sure most people go about their job without giving it thought so we feel ok .
  9. Johnstone in goal , not much of a test today !
  10. Nobody understands what woke is supposed to mean , which is the whole point ! Other campaigning phrases such as levelling up and build back better are the same , totally meaningless .
  11. OK fine we will agree to disagree , no I don’t think it will disappear 100% but I think the institutional racism is ingrained and will take years before people are judged on merit alone . The issue of other bias , old school tie , Masons, who you know will continue!
  12. Despite the Govt’s phoney enquiry , that has been disowned by any academic quoted in it as a misrepresentation of their studies , there is still ingrained institutional racism . Witness black prem footballer pulled over and searched as he was driving a posh car (which he couldn’t obviously afford ) and the Black Olympic athlete and her family , pulled over , handcuffed and with their children in the car had , the car searched ! Crime : black person driving a flash car in London registered in Yorkshire !
  13. Of course it’s not less valid it is a fact . So what is your actual position? Enlighten Saintsweb posters , are you saying their is no institutional racism , just occasional racist gestures incited by players ? Do you actually have a view or are you just a WUM troll as we all suspect?
  14. No less valid for that , carry on with your there is no real racism in the UK agenda , apart from the odd money chant provoked by Sterling .
  15. I was one of the people that didn’t fit in to the new privatised industry ! There were no appropriate people to discuss it with as the whole personal department had been reduced to a couple of low grade people on site plus the people at HQ were totally in line with the new set up.
  16. Didn’t exist in my day , the people to complain to were the problem in the first place ! My colleague managed ok until a type of dementia hit him .
  17. Unfortunately it is true , they don’t get picked just because of their skin colour , it is because of institutional bias against them in the first place . So you can disbelieve it but at the same time it’s true . I saw it at work , the barrier was set much higher for the few Asians (and females )in our workplace than us jolly Englishmen . I was on the suspect list for reading the Guardian , although the Telegraph readers were quite happy to read it !!!!
  18. Unfortunately it's true in sport as it is in business , organizations are quite capable of promoting duffers to A. get them out of the way B. Protect them as they are also Masons C. Not even give them an interview due to "it's easier not to go down that route " PS I don't know what is the current OK term to call er " people of colour " Any updates on that ??
  19. I say that because having watched a program a while ago that is the reason they gave for setting up an Asian league !! What have you got to say about YCC and their record ???
  20. The Asian players weren’t banned from joining clubs just “not encouraged “ with the Asian population in Yorkshire you would think a few more would make it to the County team . Judging by the way they seem to be treated at YCC , it is no surprise.
  21. In Yorkshire the chances of getting into a team in the local leagues was so remote they set up their own Asian league system. Don't forget the Umpires who also have had their own problems which is more recent. The problem is current as shown at YCC where the same people are still in charge and they are stalling on sharing the report on the investigation.
  22. PS I think the knee thing has run it's course , I was surprised they carried it over into this season .I suppose they thought they would do it as the fans are back . In itself it is just a gesture but there needs to be some follow up by the PFA , Kick it Out and the clubs to come to an agreement about the invisible barriers for some .
  23. https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2021/sep/04/i-just-sat-there-thinking-im-a-cricketer-what-makes-me-different I think this plus the latest the Yorkshire Cricket Club racism inquiry show the real issue there is . This is the institutional predudice that needs addressing and I think would lead to a fairer outcome . Cricket seems to be behind the times compared to football , football still has work to do to get more non white people in positions at all levels . On the player front football is doing well but there are few coaches and less as you go up the pyramid of football.
