Friendly against Ajax this Thursday.

None of those are first team players. I don't even think any of those have ever played in the first team at all (but I could be wrong about that). -
Wales vs Netherlands (Saints watch!)

Shootings and explosions nearby. 18 reported dead and a hostage situation in progress. -
Injury for Van Dijk? EDIT: after a few minutes treatment he's back on the pitch

The word 'physicality of the game' was my translaten of the Dutch 'fysieke spel'. I'm sure he means the 'more pushing, shoving and harder tackling' that you mention.

http://www.nu.nl/voetbal/4161779/clasie-moet-wennen-fysiek-spel-in-premier-league.html Clasie interviewed by nu.nl. I translated the relevant quotes about Southampton: “It’s been going well at Southampton the past few weeks. But only since I’ve managed to start some games have I really experienced the difference in power and quality between the eredivisie and the Premier League.” “I’ve been out for a good seven weeks, while previously I’d never been out for more than two games in a row. That wasn’t a nice start at Southampton. I was new, I wanted to prove myself, but I couldn’t. First I had to work really hard to regain my fitness.” “You could say the season has only just started for me in England. I’ve found my place at Southampton. The Premier League is exactly what I expected of it. I was looking forward to playing at a higher level and the challenges of a different competition.” “I also felt that I was ready for it, even though physically it takes some time to get used to. Everyone is telling me as well that a player from the eredivisie needs some time to adjust to the physicality of the game in England. That’s what I’m working hard for right now, it’s still a thing I can improve.”

From the guardian: "Watching the first half was a slightly gruelling experience, leavened only by a series of classy cameos from the aptly named Jordy Clasie. The Southampton midfielder seemed to touch the ball more than anyone else, not to mention control the pace and tempo and some of his interchanges with Dusan Tadic offered mini masterclasses in ball manipulation."

No, that was misinformation. It was in Amsterdam.

VVD starting again for the Netherlands tonight against the Czech Republic. Stekelenburg on the bench.
-
Stekelenburg called up to replace him for the Tuesday game against the Czech Republic. Probably back-up behind Zoet and Vermeer. Cilessen also out injured.
-
So far he is. Scored a couple of winners already.
-
A satisfied Dutch coach Danny Blind after winning 1-2 against Kazachstan: "All four debuting players were good today, but Van Dijk was fantastic."
-
A couple of decent clearances, but Kazachstan isn't a very attacking team. One awkward mistake that forced Bruma to make a tackle that gave him a yellow card, but otherwise an easy game in the back. No rushes forward from VVD yet. 0-1 up, goal by Wijnandum.

(Starting in 45 minutes, in case anyone else is interested)

Van Dijk making his debut for the Netherlands tonight.

I think Pellè will be around a bit longer. If not, Bas Dost may be a good choice for his position, depending how well he does this year.

"No Pellè, no Sané..." -
He only played one league game for Monaco and before that spent a lot of time on the bench for Fulham. He'll need some time to get back to his best, but I think he's doing quite well already.
-
First get ahead by two goals, then bring Clasie on. Then score some more, obviously.

http://www.nu.nl/voetbal/4139430/virgil-van-dijk-merkt-hij-snel-beter-wordt-bij-southampton.html Rough translation of Virgil's quotes: "In five games with Southampton I've learned more than in years before, so I'm certainly progressing as a football player. But the adjustment hasn't been easy. The pace of the game is much faster in England than it was in Scotland. The midfield sometimes seems like a pinball machine, that took some time to get used to. But it's going well, especially with the 3-1 victory at Chelsea in mind. I'm full of confidence. The timing for these international games is excellent for me. I want to take the form of Southampton with me to the national team. I don't know if my transfer to Southampton played a big part in my selection for the national team, but I am active at a higher level now, so people will watch me differently. In any case I'm happy I'm here and I'm going to try my very best to impress so I can get some actual time in the games. The games against Kazachstan and the Czech Republic will be tough. We have to win, but then still we depend on Turkey's results. It's too bad we can't decide it ourselves, but that's the way it is. We have to hope the Turks lose, because everyone at the Dutch team really wants to go to the EC. That's alo my big goal personally."
-
Scored again this weekend as well.
-
Wouldn't be surprised if he'd make the starting 11 for the internationals after tonight.
-
Any news on Clasie? He'll have some time to get back into it now.

Post-Match Reaction: Chelsea 1-3 SAINTS
Pass the Dutchie replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
From The Telegraph: "The Chelsea fans booed and by the end of the game some sections were singing ‘We’re ****ing ****’. They were not wrong."
