It's like a romantic relationship: it only works as long as each party wants to be with the other. As soon as the love from one side is gone, it's not a good idea to stay together much longer.

Lots of games, lots of rotation. Many of the players still get to play a game every week, so the 'lack of rhythm' thing seems to be not as valid as when the same amount of rotation would happen in a period of fewer games (obviously).
