  1. Schmidt is also named in connection to Ajax in the Netherlands.
  2. Why do certain good players like coming to Southampton? Because they know we have a reputation of being a good stepping stone to a bigger club. Stop that and we'd have more trouble getting certain players (for better or worse).
  3. Because we're not the #1 team in England, or the world. As long as we're not, players (and managers) are going to have the ambition to move up. It's really very simple.
  4. ....
  5. Netherlands very unlikely to make it to the world cup anyway.
  6. I remember some on here liked Bosz when we played Vitesse and he still was their coach. He's moved up quickly from there. I like his attitude, but I think he'll struggle at Dortmund.
  7. https://southamptonfc.com/news/2017-05-25/southampton-2017-retained-list-players-released Thanks Cuco! I understand all the critics, but I enjoyed that you were here.
  8. Goalkeepers: Angus Gunn (Manchester City), Jonathan Mitchell (Derby County), Jordan Pickford (Sunderland). Defenders: Calum Chambers (Arsenal), Ben Chilwell (Leicester City), Kortney Hause (Wolverhampton Wanderers), Rob Holding (Arsenal), Mason Holgate (Everton), Dominic Iorfa (Wolverhampton Wanderers), Alfie Mawson (Swansea City), Jack Stephens (Southampton), Matt Targett (Southampton). Midfielders: Lewis Baker (Chelsea), Nathaniel Chalobah (Chelsea), Jack Grealish (Aston Villa), Will Hughes (Derby County), John Swift (Reading), James Ward-Prowse (Southampton) Forwards: Tammy Abraham (Chelsea), Demarai Gray (Leicester City), Jacob Murphy (Norwich City), Nathan Redmond (Southampton), Cauley Woodrow (Fulham) Standby: Joe Wildsmith (Sheffield Wednesday), Sam McQueen (Southampton)
  9. "Silva could be an option to replace Claude Puel if Southampton choose to change manager" http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2017/05/03/in-demand-marco-silva-may-have-choice-four-premier-league-clubs/ No sources, just filler, but you know. It's on topic.
  10. I really don't think we did. Had we commited to him for longer, he would have played by now. As far as I know he's always just been a half-a-season emergency addition.
  11. The following players don't have a contract after the end of this season: Cáceres Martina Isgrove Taylor Hassen Flannigan McCarthy Also wouldn't shed a tear over: Gardos Reed
  12. There we go! Let's score it, then.
  13. Let's hope all the big scouts and managers are watching this game. J-Rod coming on?
  14. Come on boys, time for that surprise goal. Sims would be nice.
  15. This can only get better though, and it should. Long in, and maybe JWP?
  16. The whole game is like Forster today: much too slooooow
  17. Clasie didn't play for ages, then got his chance and (I thought) really took it. It's a bit strange to me we haven't seen him since, again.
  18. Not the brightest of starts.
  19. Yeah, I must admit I'd have expected him to get in as well. Although soon after he arrived we were 'safe' and there was no urgent need for him anymore. I think we would have seen more if him if we'd been in a tough relegation battle as was feared for a few minutes.
  20. We have bothered with Cácares because we REALLY needed a backup CB. It would have been madness to continue the season without, given the obvious chances for injury or suspension.
  21. Entertaining game. A real shame that we didn't make it to halftime 1-1.
  22. Some good looking football there from Saints.
  23. With a good setup from Gabba.
  24. That looked ridiculously easy for them.
  25. I'm watching here: http://cricfree.sc/watch/live/chelsea-vs-southampton-live-streaming
