Charly ... he's a star... love him
-
yeah you're right.. AA was on for 9 less mins
-
Charly is a star so is Lavia. both of them off before AA... don't get it Good, brave performance game until the 80th... pity....
-
Agree...Big Paul's lack of game time is so weird .. didn't do too badly when he got on and his lack of fitness was probably the only worry. With 5 subs, it shouldn't be an issue. I like Mara... should develop into really useful forward, just needs a year with an experienced player to play off (guess Theo atm). Pity we're not in a situation to groom him (a la Che with Ingsy)..

Living abroad, don't get to go to games often so have been noisily and pointlessly directing my match day frustrations and despair at Sky Switzerland commentators. Though my german swear word vocabulary is limited, pretty sure all my neighbours get the jest. However, will be at St Mary's on Saturday to give me a chance to vent it all out or fall in love with the team again... Komm schon du Heiligen

So difficult following a team dead last in the league. Kills confidence, impacts fluency which leads to total lack of any creativity, quality or conviction.... And that's just our forum posts 🙂 Another nail in the coffin today and hard to see us beating the drop. Hopefully we'll have the financial clout to sustain a few years in the Championship. Complete overall in the summer - bring in a few of the youngsters doing ok in in PL2 - start again.

Simpy embarrassing ...not for the first time in recent years and probably not for the last time this season. Really hard to stay engaged with this team when they serve us such dross. Good luck to Grimsby, hope they get a flush draw.

what's your alternative? Sam Edozie has been taken from the firing line, Arma as a 10? Moussa ?

First of all, wishing Selles and the technical staff all the best. Selles seems to be smart, hungry and determined. He's obviously got the trust of the board and the players whilst I've only seen positive comments from us fans. Glad we promoted internally (incl. Horseman taking up first team duties). In my professional sphere, we also try to do so - it increases employee engagement & retention, boosts moral & motivation for (not all) most staff and is usually cheaper & faster than external hiring. I'd assume an unchanged line up today. Maybe KWP for AMN but otherwise that starting 11 showed their worth last week 6 pointer so let's go for it... COYS

DCC : Bizarre situation, something must have happened. Orsic: not too bothered ... haven't seen enough of him (which is also bizarre) SE: young gun that's been thrown in the deep end... I'm sure he needs a rest Looks like a 4-2-2-2 to me - assume Selles wants something the team is familiar with. Baz : I'd put Willy but OK AMN : guess right back, had a good match last week Bednarek / ABK : hopefully it gels and they finally get a clean sheet Perraud, JWP, Lavia : obvious Moj and Stu : they owe us both a great end to the season, here's their chance. Noobs: had to be Would love a draw any other time time but we need points so might as well just go for it. COYR

I'll only accept the appointment of Zinedine Zidane, Joachim Low or Luis Enrique.... Anyone else... I'm throwing a tantrum.

Hard to watch.... feel most sorry for the away fans. We do only play one kind of decent half per game, let's hope...

Well done to Blackpool for giving it a go, decent side, let down by poor finishing... Last 30mins or so showed how far off, from a confident premiership team, we really are. I still don't get why our defensive issues have persisted for so long. We've basically changed our back 5 and reinforced defensive midfield in the past year but still can't get it right. Are we missing an inspiring defensive coach or something? I'm baffled. Well done Perraud... two lovely left footed strikes... show our strikers how it's done. A win's a win... still in the cup... UTS !!

32 years old 5"10 - 10 goals , 8 assists over 36 games last season - 2 goals and 2 assist this season Kind of similar player to Che (better finishing) If we could get a loan til end of season, it's no brainer... but I reckon he'll want a last pay day with a 2.5 year contract or so.

That's a third straight win so can't ask for more from today. Honesty, graft and determination, that's the basis for a good team. Well done to the staff and players (as well as the away supporters) for giving it a go and making us proud COYS

Saints 2-0 Man City - The Treble is STILL on!
ButtikonSaint replied to Lighthouse's topic in The Saints
That's the most enjoyable 45mins watching saints for a very long time.... Long may it continue... COYS -
Happy with the win. Good team effort to stop the rot. Can't really comment on the manager yet as he's got the same players that have been useless and clueless since March last season. If he manages to keep us up this season, job done - nice one. Else, we can't be surprised as it's been coming. Today we battled hard and beat a team that's about level to us physically and technically. That's what we need until the end of the season. There's 11 games to focus on and get points : Everton, Villa, Wolves, Leeds, Leicester, West Ham, Palace, Bournemouth, Forrest, Fulham and Brighton. Anything would be a welcomed bonus. COYS

God farting to blast the ball in the goal...bit of luck ... can we really turn it round?
-
An honest, hard working man who, clearly loved the club and, with backing, could get us to play attractive, high-tempo football. So thanks Ralph for your time and dedication. Sadly, since the 4-0 away to Villa in March, we've been simply trash. Why the slump? RH, yeah - lost it ... but critically the players (past and present) and the board (past and present) share a lot of that responsibility too. Time to move on and back the new man... Let's hope he can get something out of that team. COYS

Saints 1-4 Newcastle - Match Thread
ButtikonSaint replied to Ivan Katalinic's 'tache's topic in The Saints
Not surprised by the defeat - we're straw-weight up front, slow in midfield and inexperienced in defense. Have been behind RH since he took over and unsure what another manager could do with that team but there comes a time when a change is needed to try and jolt these players. Has to be now. Let's hope for a renewal of ideas and attitude in the winter break and the luckiest of dips in the transfer market - we need it. -
Southampton 1-1 Arsenal - Match Thread
ButtikonSaint replied to Saint Matty 76's topic in The Saints
We were physical, had attitude and sometimes nasty, we also scored a really good technical goal - Fantastic. That was a good second half with Stu getting into the groove and Lyanco raising the roof - good end to the week 🙂 COYS -
Got to be happy with that. Aribo a bit anonymous, wondering if an old fashion number 10 free role behind the 2 strikers would suits him better (although I think that's the perfect role for Stu). Defensively pretty sound. DCC, Salisu and Lyanco did well. Perraud is a pit bull. Hope KWP is ok. Che and Arma need to start the next 5 games together up front to really build on that partnership. Loved the last 10mins Tiki-taka.
-
Decent first half but once again lethargic and clueless second half. Sadly, we're missing an old calm (bold) head in midfield. As much as I admire JWP, he's not a midfield general. Lavia might be back soon but at just 18 yo, it would be unfair to expect too much from him. We don't score enough so a striker is top prio but in our situation I'd look for some steel and presence in midfield

Unlucky to concede, don't think it was much of a foul by Diallo Not the same intensity as against chelsea but so far this season we're better chasing the game. Worth maybe moving to a 4222 with Mara or Stu on for Diallo who's now on a yellow
