  1. This is nonsense. He is a saints legend at the back-end of his career. Of course he deserves it. Him above anyone else. He has been massive in getting us to 6th in the premier league. Allow him a final pay day after such hard work, commitment and loyalty. Go to Man U Fonte. Thanks for the effort. And of course he signed a new contract!! You would too. He would happily see it out too, but one final chance to play champions league. To good to miss. if you love him, let him go.
  2. Is Trippier an upgrade on euro 16 winner Soares?
  3. Point taken. If there was a spectrum for of 'steppingstonability', i feel Mane in his tansition from Salzburg to the PL would be higher and would have taken anyone in order to showcase himself to big clubs, whereas I feel Redmond might actually be keen to develop with a club known for being good at that. I think Redmond is more motivated and a better fit and will likely play better more often. Maybe I'm being hippy.
  4. Personally I would rather have Redmond. Mane was inconsistent and probably knew we were a stepping stone. Excellent when he wanted to be. Average mostly. in Redmond we have a young, hungry, lighting fast, twinkle toed winger who is looking to flourish. I think he is going to be a good egg. #moreeffectivethanMane #destinedforliverpool
  5. Up the cherries. Happy with Redmond. Nicolae Stanciu next please.
  6. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/36736430 Am i being silly to feel like we missed something here?
  7. Nicolai Stanciu. The number 10 I'd like to see at our club. I think we need one. He might be it. Right age. http://www.footballfancast.com/football-news/southampton-targeting-euro-2016-maestro-club-want-5-1m-transfer-deal? Not such a reliable source.
  8. I think its outrageous that with the BT money this year, that we are being bullied by cash. No one can tell me that an everton switch is not a sideways step. it is. So it isn't for the glory. It has to be money, or is that obvious? my point is how are we being bullied like this. Surely we are able to offer, 6m a year to Ron for a 2 year extension?? I mean id we paid 12m on ramirez? i don't get it. We are a club owned by a rich swiss organisation are we not? How are everton beating us for cash???
  9. Everyone was played well. Clasie and Vic were superb. Long had a good night. Cuca goal was insane. He did well. Was strong and solid. Fonte and VvD were excellent. Finally showed the tenacity and handwork we need. Well done boys. Well done.
  10. Made it to Selhurst Park for the game. Romeu MoM, Gazzaniga close second. Wanyama doesnt look like he cares inthe flesh. Long is all running and effort with no class Fonte looked a bit shaky compared to normal. Done by bolasie for the goal. Did he think he was actually going to tackle hi with that half-arsed tackle on the edge. Cedric needs two kilos of muscle but does have a good ball in. Cant go past anyone for toffee VvD didnt put a foot wrong. Steven Davis ineffective. The moment we get to the final third we have nothing. We panic, we dont try to keep the ball, we play low probability balls and just look toothless. Not looking good. no belief. Where has it gone?
  11. Mane Vs Mangala - If we canget Mane one on one we will have a chance of causing trouble here.
  12. Def a shame. Thought he looked good. Thankfully we have cover.
  13. Im looking for 3 tickets to Palace away if anyone is a holder and not going? Would be appreciated. Thank you You can email me at benfinden@hotmail.co.uk . cheers
  14. Fair point. oops.
  15. Southampton’s No4 is Clasie by name and nature Southampton fans have needed longer than expected to acquaint themselves with Jordy Clasie but they are learning quickly that their summer signing may well have been a bargain at £8m. The Dutch midfielder, in whom Ronald Koeman had placed considerable faith when the pair were at Feyenoord, was derailed by injury in the season’s early weeks but made his second Premier League start in the 2-0 win over Bournemouth and the impression was positive. Clasie played alongside Victor Wanyama in Saints’ deep midfield pairing and – like the rest of his side – rarely missed a beat in the first half, showing a fine passing range and playing an important part in Steven Davis’s deadlock-breaking goal when he cut an accurate ball into the feet of Graziano Pellè. The Holland international’s quality does not appear to be in question but he will, of course, still need time. He faded in the second period, again in common with most of his colleagues, and his manager said afterwards that he still has to adjust to Premier League levels of intensity. “Jordy is coming out of the Dutch competition and he’s not the most physical player, which is why I replaced him after 70 minutes,” said Koeman. “He needs to learn and adapt to the Premier League. We will give the boy that time, and today he showed his qualities.” Clasie was effectively signed as a replacement for Morgan Schneiderlin and it will be some achievement if he can match the Frenchman’s influence at St Mary’s, but the cautious early evidence is that he fits perfectly into a Southampton midfield that is beginning to pick itself. Nick Ames EXACTLY
  16. Clasie is quality. no doubt. Remember when Mane came in the side and everyone was giving him sh£t on here for being ineffective. Mane just needed time to settle his nerves. now look at him. The same goes for Clasie. He's nervous and finding his way into the side. He will be quality. Def a morgan replacement. Not good news for JWP and Romeu BTW, why he didn't bring Romeu on when Wanyama was sent off I will never know.

    Wanyama

You are mad if you think Wanyama didnt play well against Bournemouth. He bossed it. his second yellow might have sealed the clean sheet. Him and Clasie will form a great partnership. Clasie looks Classy. Time for Romeu to shine now, for a match.
  18. since they lost Wilson, their confidence has dropped big time. We should win. But expect a scrap. They wont be able to prevent the P.M.T trio scoring. I want to see a performance from CLASIE. A Welcome to Southampton kind of performance. Go boss it.
  19. second half a joke. Wrong time to bring Clasie on!!!!!!!!!! he looked unfit, out of touch. against a vibrant leicester side. Losing Davis and Cedric was debilitating. we looked a different side with no balance. Bertrand had a mare. the first goal is his fault i say. If you watch from when our keeper has the ball, Bertrand is honestly half way up the pitch. Van Dijk gets left to try a pass when he is overloaded on the right. simple fact, if bertrand want caught up the pitch, we dont give the ball away, and van dijk isnt left trying to stop Mahrez at the edge of the penalty box instead of being in the 6 yard area clearing the ball. On the plus side, first half we looked good. really good.
  20. Not sure how JWP gets in there twice but i suppose on current form. He can stay there if he can add goals to his game. but surely the dream combination is VIC CLASIE DAVIS With cover in the form of Romeu for Vic (both hardhitting and subject to yellow cards), JWP for Clasie and Juanmi for Davis. And lets be fair to jordy Clasie. Hasnt played. Comes on against a fit and on form leicester side. I thought the sub choice was not as good as it could have been.
  21. I think its exciting. We will never be a top four club because of fan base and income. just wont happen. We will have bad seasons and great seasons depending on what young potential we can bring in. Sadio is a perfect example. He will sell for £40m+. And while we have him we will do well at the club. VVD is another one. Schneiderlin. Any one of that quality will ultimately leave. Koeman is a young manager, he will go to a big club, but while we have him we will do well. We are one of those teams that floats in the shallows between top 4 and 10th, developing the worlds best players and getting our moneys worth while we do it. Top class scouting, top class youh development, top class facilities. We attract the stars of the future. We just need to be better at this game than other teams who are forced to do the same. Like CB says "Get used to it because it isn't going to be any different any time soon"
  22. Benny F

    Van Dijk

Not so sure. i would rather have VVD. Easily. Bigger, stronger, faster. And scores free kicks. Fonte is second best centre half but who can forget Ken mon
  23. Davis Goal was a thing of beauty. We were excellent all over the pitch. Pelle is a beast. Mane is lightning. Tadic skinning the life out of Ivanovic was a personal highlight. Destroyed him. I think the Bertrand + VVD effect is giving the midfield and forwards the confidence to express themselves. Well played boys. COYR
  24. Well done the lads. Not a great performance but a great result. Rock on. Now to take down the spluttering chelsea machine
  25. Ron said hes training hard with a good attitude (yes i know, contract ends round the corner and he has realised he needs to perform) and if Ron thinks he can get us assists and create more (face it, we havent created in the prem yet realyl ),,,,, that deserves a last chance. Maybe his ego has been taken down a peg or two. Chuck him in. See what he can do. If still ****, hook him back out. hes got assists in him.
