James Ward-Prowse's list of indisputable, unimprovable weaknesses
Mosin replied to ScepticalStan's topic in The Saints
You cant compare playing for Saints to playing for barca for a start, Also i never said he would be as good, i said he will play the same roll ( Deep laying playmaker ), heres a link so you can look up the words " type of roll " eg same posistion - http://dictionary.cambridge.org/ - , never in my statement did i say he would be as good. your seeing things i never said dude, go to specsavers you need to go seriously. Also, Last year JWP was in the top 10 under 21 mids in europe according to every stat comparision site known and to pundits. your opinion on JWP means nothing, Long would win golden boot playing for barca in 1999.............. they had some of the best players the world had ever seen playing in the easiest league in EUROPE with the only challange coming from Real Madrid. JWP plays at Southampton with the worst front 3 in the league, with striker's who need 100000000000000000 attempts to score one goal. thats a big big big difference to playing with Ronaldiho, Rivaldo, Klivert and figo and so on and so on.... them players alone would win games, you dont need a play maker when u have them players. I never said he would be a world beater, i just stated he is stil young playing a posistion that is one of the hardest posistions to play in on the pitch, playing for one of the most inconsistant teams in the league. Ronaldo in England was not half the player he is in Spain, he goals record shows that here ill show u so u can eat some humble pie.. stats dont lie man.......... 2003–2009 Manchester United 196 (84 Goals) 2009– Real Madrid 219 (239 Goals) Obviuosly its far easier to score in Laliga than the EPL.............. every one knows its easier to score in Laliga than EPL. JWP has to play on cold windy raining nights in Enalgnd against the most physical league in teh world, Xavi plays in the sunny none windy conditions against players who cant tackle........... Huge difference m8 huge!!! If your so unhappy with the team and hate the players so much go and support Sh!tsmouth down the road, am sure they will have you, St Marys wont miss u at all. -
James Ward-Prowse's list of indisputable, unimprovable weaknesses
Mosin replied to ScepticalStan's topic in The Saints
Xavi, Alonso and iniesta didnt reach high form till mid 20's, none of them where considered great players before their 21st birthdays!!. the type of Midfielder JWP will grow into is an Alonso / Xavi type of player ( deep laying playmaker ), but he needs to grow into this role its a very very difficult role to fill, he wont just turn up one random day and be the greatest midfielder in the world, expecting that is very unrealistic. The support of are young players is a disgrace compared to how it was a few years ago while we was in L1. what happened to the support we gave Morgan, Lallana and co? Morgan was horrid for a long time before he grew into the player he is now and played at a far easier level than JWP is currently playing in. would JWP be good in L1? of course he would!!, he is already considered one of the best young mids of English football but of course all the expert football pundits ex players coachs and stuff have nothing over the Saintsweb forum experts!!!! Leave the dam lad alone and let him develope ffs. to much expectation on his shoulders already. he is are future captain and i for one can not wait for him to become captain, he loves this club about the only player in the team currently that does have Saints truely in his heart and all he gets is crap of fans. rather a team full of JWP's than Wanyama's and manes any day of the week. The prem is not Laliga or League 1. its the hardest league in the world, some of you should remember this. Lad has my 100 % backing and support. -
After looking at Skysports page, S Long has 9 apps ( 7 starts ) 7 goals. Pelle has 21 starts 9 goals.... If Long played every game Center forward and had played 21 games would he have more than 9 goals? i think he would tbh.
-
Any sort of stats avalible on Long vs Pelle in the center forward roll on chances missed / Chances taken? im pretty sure Long is ahead, Pelle wastes far far more chance than long does when plying center forward, and Pelle seems to throw his arms about all the time where long just gets on with it and try's again. Pelles gives the impression he gives up after a while and he is very static, Long is constantly moving around pulling defenders all over the place and not alot of defenders can out pace Long. Pelle may have scored more goals, but Pelle only gets played in one roll, Long plays on wing 90 % of time so in these games its unfair to judge him when he is being played out of posistion. Would u judge Pelle the same if he played wide right 90 % of games? Of course Pelle would never play wide right he dnot have the ability to play that roll. Just want to add i have no idea what the stats are, im just going by what i see. i could be wrong, But i like the way we play loads more when Long plays center forward, I know Pelles hold up play is good, his passing can be questioned though. I would rather Long be uptop tbh, we look more dangerous and play less hoof balls and attack so much faster when Long plays
-
by 8th i meant 8th from bottem, just thought ill correct that before any one trolls me
-
The have only conceded 3 more goals than Liverpool, but are a free scoring team that look very very dangerous when they have the ball ( they are the highest scoring team in the league ), they conced goals cause the are an adventurous team that push to score goals. they dont mess about in possesion, they dont waste time, if they have the ball only one thing they want to do with it, and thats put in it the back of the net. i would say they haev about as much chance of top four as Liverpool and Spurs both of who have lost form recently. Liverpool have lost 1 game and drawn 2, all 3 games they should have won. Spurs just lost to Newcastle and are looking very very tired and no where near the team they was a few weeks ago. Chelsea are out of top four race. they can only hope the current top four lose many many man games if they have any hope of reaching it which is not very likely, but i can picture Leicester investing in January, its not like they have 0 money they have an owner who is not scared of FFP rules and isnt worried about dipping his hand in his pocket..............they will keep pushing till the end of the season, they wont stop. Also they are 8th in goals conceded currently in the league so i dont know why you think they are 2nd from bottem on goals conceded.

i kinda dissagree with some comments saying the club is in its best posistion since for ever, i think 70's was much better time for the club in terms of consistancy and so on. never forget beating united in the FA cup final in 76 either. Also finishing 2nd in teh old league 1 in 1984 i think if my memory is right some thing like that any way or was it 1986 either way we did finish runners up in 1980's ( i do have the shirt some where will haev to get it out of the actic some time and have a look )............. was quite an achievment too. are rise from league 1 to now was awesome, but last year achievements and now the drop of in the performance of the team is ruining all the hard work that has been done over the last 6 years tbh. i am dissapointed with current performances / results but thats football, Enjoy the times while being good and challanging and keep faith when not performing at top level, but we do need some investment though on players to replace first team players that are currently not doing a decent job for us, but again this might just be that some of the new players need more time to get used to playng for us ( cause ive seen us play some amazing football just dont last more than 10 - 20 min a game haha ), cant keep buying cheap for ever and expect to stay in top half of the table, we cant make a profit and see the club losing its audiance which has been built up over the last few season which is giving us some great great publicity. Thats just my opinion though, i would take it with a pinch of salt, but the team is far far far from playing any where near their best imho, we could be playing so much better, ive seen it this season we all have which is why some fans are not happy with current performances and results which is 100 % understandable, am sure RK and board feel the same Just want to put a big shout out to Leicester currently beating Chelsea 2- 0
-
Cause palace should have had 3 - 4 goals. Gazza kept us in it, and the save Hennessey made from the Davis header kept them in the game, but honestly they should have wrapped the points up in the first half tbh. had easy 4 - 5 chances to put us away in the first half but as i said Gazza kept us in it. Was a dreadfull performance from Saints, which is why so many fans are angry cause the team is not a shadow of the team it was last year. Did you attend / watch the game? I thought we would pick up form after the Liverpool game tbh.
-
He is only saying what Sky sports told us all when the transfer window closed, and he is only stating fact, we are the only club in the league to have sold more than we brought and the only club in the league to spend 0 of its own money on player transfers in the last window.

Targett & Ward-Prowse named in England U21 Euro squad
Mosin replied to S-Clarke's topic in The Saints
His average is 1.2 key pass per game Tadic is 2 a game, davis is 1.9 a game. So overall when compared to others in the team that play a more advanced attacking role than Prowse does he is not doing such a bad job, he has a better pass rate than both Tadic and Davis who both have far more misplaced passes than prowse, they also lose get caught in possesion more than Prowse and both have years more exp than the young JWP so tbh you should expect far more from Tadic and Davis. The fact he draws attention from top clubs around europe would suggest he is a very good young player and one of the top 10 under 21 midfield players in europe, but i guess the world of football knows bugger all when compared to the managers / coaches and scouts on Sainstweb forum. Give the lad a break, least he wants to be a Southampton player and does not wish to leave the club. -
Nope ofc not, win or lose im proud of my team, i wouldnt do the 365 mile round trip for every home game if i didnt ( if im not working ofc ). no they spoke about him hitting 8 then when he hit 8 they spoke about 9, but they doubted him from 4 goals in a row and on wards....... They do every player that is not playing in a top 6 club........ this is my point, we are coming into form, against teams in the league which are hardly on top form, who have more games to play than us with less rest than us, these are all teams we can on are day beat. so why not think its possible?. i think its possible, and to say it isnt is silly, as we all know any thing is possible in Football.
-
And every one said Vardy would never score 9 times in a row and be the top goalscorer on the league............... Football in unpredictable any thing can happen, i just believe in the team i support. You also would not pictured Chelsea sitting in 16th either........ 3 points off relegation zone........... good thing football is not predictable really......

I think we can win all the games upto new year tbh, we are starting to come into form, players have settled should be a good couple of months for us i think Stoke (H) 2-0 Man City (A) 1-2 Think we will win this, City are not playing to well atm, plus before us they have got juve which will be a hard game for them which i think they will also lose so will be down on moral and may be a little tired, plus we seem to turn up against the big teams. Liverpool (H) 2-0 think Klopp might be to focused on the league, and again same as city they have lots of games coming up with only 3 days rest between games. Villa (H) 2-0 just a poor side tbh. Palace (A) 1-2 playing well but i think are back line is good enough to stop them and i think we are good enough in attack to cause them lots of problems. Spurs (H) 2-1 playing ok, not good but not bad either, been lucky with a few results this season and with games coming up fast for them i think we can win this, plus Pochys tactics means they might be tired during this period and we get an extra days rest over them after a long trip up to newcastle and back i think they might struggle a bit for fitness. Arsenal (H) 2-0 lots of injurys and normally go off pace just before xmass so i think we can win this too, plus have City 5 days before us so we get an extra 2 days time to prep for the game. West Ham (A) 1-2 this will be a tough game i think. My opinion is always biased though as i always expect us to win but i really do think we can win the next 8 games.

http://cricfree.tv/watch/live/sunderland-vs-southampton-live-streaming Not perfect stream but none are, I would try find some acestream links but at work so shouldnt be watching football
-
But Davis is not an attacking mid though, he is more of a box to box / central mid who just keeps games ticking over controling the pace. Gaston is a playmaker who picks out passes to put players through on goal. , im not saying Davis is not important to the team, im just saying in the hole behind Mane, Tadic and Pelle. Gaston is the better player to be playing in that role not davis......... 15 apps 2 assists 1 goal so far this season for davis Gaston is already on 2 assists in 80 mins of game time, and is miles away from full match fitness..........
-
This si why im not expecting him to be as on form as Tadic and Mane who have both had a full pre season and games to play. if he gets a chance to get fully matchfit i expect him to put in some dam good displays. Stek Soares Fonte Dijk Betrand Wanyama Classie Mane Gaston Tadic Pelle That is a very good team...... not that we dont have one any way with JWP / Davis in midfield. But Gaston brings so much more than these two. Maybe not defensivly but offesively he is better than both put together...............
-
weather you like it or not, he assisted Yosh's goal and the the pass was perfect too ( simple pass but was spot on, to hard yosh fails to control it, to soft and its intercepted. so perfect. ).................. 2 assists in 2 games... i do agree he didnt play to well, but its his first start in a long time and is hardly match fit, and was played out of position, he is no winger........ most of the team didnt play well tbh
-
I like him as a player, has fantastic ability and is by far are most creative player, has had loads of injurys which never seem to allow him to get upto full match fitness and when he was at match fitness Lallana was first choice in the same role. Would like to see a forward line of Pelle, Mane, Tadic and Gaston, with Gaston in the center feeding his lovely through balls and picking out passes and little chips and stuff to Pelle Mane and Tadic. Just needs match practise Cant really say much about his time at hull ,they where not the most attacking team and always seem to have 10 players behind the ball defending which is not Gastons strength at all. Would like to see him start tonight in the center. Thats just my opinion though, i know 99 % of this forum hate him, which i dnot blame you for he has not produced the form we know he can, but i put that down to lacking match fitness and his curse with injurys. But just think of it this way, if he does play how we know he can then you have to admit he is a fantastic player and would do more than just a job for us, he has the ability to be better than Tadic and about on par with Mane. and with them 3 and Pelle that has to be one of the best front lines in the league on par with Gunners city and United easy, left chelsea out as they are horrid ATM haha
-
I would leave are team how it is, drop Tadic for Theo. no reason to move Pelle, i did say in post i would have Theo and Mane playing off Pelle
-
I also thought he played well, bit wastefull with his crossing seemed to either over hit them or not beat the first man. i thought he was Liverpools best player tbh. dont know how Benteke got MOM either, thought Pelle was better all round than Benteke just didnt score......... Quote Originally Posted by Dellman View Post Out of all the defectors very few would get in the present Saints team. I Would Love to have theo back, i dont know why he gets so much hassle, i think he is an awesome player. just dont suit Gunners style tbh, he would be so much more dangerous for us than he is at Gunners, with him and Mane on the wings feeding of pelle would scare the hell out of every defence in the league

used an unlicensed agent and Chambers Agent had agreed a contract offer ( im guessing also told Chambers about it too ) before a bid had been excepted. to me this is player tapping up and think the fine is an insult to Southampton FC. 60 k fine for a club that makes millions and millions every year, i think its disgracefull

Last season we brought two of the best players from the dutch league, got bertrand in and Got in toby who both have been apart of a champion league final teams ( on loan ) and Mane who was highly rated in his last team who did not want to sell him and a few other loanies who are not really worth talking about as they did not perform all to well tbh. but this seasons spending has overall been very lame considering other players that where up for grabs that we seem to have ignored who could do a far better job than some of the players we have brought, a top player went Crystal palace for god sake.a good player also joined Newcastle for little money, Stoke also signed a good player, really this list could be quite big so ill just stop now and save my self the heart ache and the anger i feel for the lame spending the club has done this season. Its ok though, i can count around 40 million of unused transfer money from last season and this season, lets see if the board spend it, dont even get me started on money left over from commercial deals sponsors and tv deals, wages cant have been a lot more than it was last season seeing as FFP rules only allow 4 % rise each season and transfer money cant be included in it.. bottom of the league on investment says it all really, Wonder if Bournemouth are laughing at us? bet they are well looking forward to playing us...... 3 easy points they are probs thinking but most important thing is.. the club made record profits. its all good, great times to be a saints fan, have you seen the wonderful football we are playing makes you dead proud. If only Stoke of old could see us now...... how much would the club lose if we get relegated?
-
Read what i said again, take a good look at the part that says i would not buy players of 100 million, infact my point was that the club pay less money out than it should, the fact Stoke City pay more wage, spend more on players ( with out selling first ) still make a profit AND HAVE A LESS INCOME THAN SOUTHAMPTON FC! Is a joke and is wrong... at no point in my rambling did i say we should spend millions on buying players, i stated we should be doing more to keep players who are clearly leaving for more money, which is what the topic is all about, or did you forget that? I made the most important bit bold and underlined it for you CB fry as you seem to be unable to understand that a richer club Us Southampton fc who receive more money per year from sponsors and so on ( with out kats money ) is being out spent by Stoke city on transfers who also pay more in wages.
-
just for some additional information for Saint Without a Halo, if i had 1 billion in the bank ( a big if never going to happen but IF ) i would earn 120 - 130 k every single day, so i wouldnt be spending all my familys money by paying 20 - 30 k of a lets just say 10 players wages every week, i would still be making money sitting on my fat arse living of the interest
-
No Pompey took loans out they could not afford to pay, they did not have an owner that could fund the costs like we could and City and Chelsea. "Agree totally how many of us who have great love and affection for the club would plough our families money into it in full? If that's the basis of measuring affection we would have virtually no fans " Do you not think fans already do this buying shirts going round the UK to attend away games, buying a season ticket? ive been doing it for 30 years and do it instead of going on holidays every year, So yes i do spend all my spare cash on the club already.......... if i had a billion to spend i would more than likely put it into the club. it is not like it would be a bad investment, of course i wouldnt waste it i would spend it wisely and not be a complete retard and pay 100 million on a player, but i would be happy to hand a player an extra 20 - 30 k wages a week out of my pocket to keep them at the club to help the club achieve the ultimate goal of Champions League Football, once that is achieved then the club would self run after 2 - 3 years of competing in the Champions league just like Chelsea have managed and continue to make profit every year for the last 6 - 7 years after Romans initial investment the club now supports itself. " Have you forgotten FFP? " No, FFP rules ( Premiership FFP rules ) allow upto 105 million lose over the course of 3 years. with 50 million plus being boosted by a huge tv deal next year and a bigger payment the year after it would not be to hard to invest 100 million and balanced the books over the following 3 years, Also they are currently discussing changing the rules to allow owners to invest into the clubs they own cause PSG and City have threatened to take Uafa to The Court of Arbitration for Sport. Once Champions league football is achieved then it changes and loses must be kept under 45 million over 3 years, with Champions league bringing in a min of 27 million just for reaching group stages then this is not to hard to achieve either. " Markus Leibherr would not have been pumping money in to turn us into a Chelsea/Man City. Really strange to see someone equate "love and affection for the club" with a desire to "pump huge sums of cash" into it to pi ss away on fees and wages. I am delighted we don't do that, and delighted we never will under our current ownership. " Did we not do a Chelsea / City to get back into the Premiership? if i recall we did spend more than any other club in the championship in wages and transfers ( while we where in league 1 and failed to make a profit till we got into the premiership ) and again when we got into the championship, this spending only stopped once we made the prem and Nicola got replaced by Ralph, So i hope your still delighted now you have found out we brought are way back into the prem ( so in theory we did a City / Chelsea .. sorry if i made you feel sad )............... to say Marcus would not have continued to put money into the club to reach Champions league as he wanted is not right as it was his plan for the club when he brought it. you see, although you argue my points and try to prove me wrong history tells a different story, the Spending of the club only changed once Kat decided she didnt want any more of " her " money being put into the club, was this why Nicola left? you have to ask your self this question, but as we all know, it is why he left, he was told that the club had to support its self to get to the champions league, as Kat would no longer put money into the club, then pochy and star players decided it was time to leave. Please, in detail put down the out goings of player sales and incoming of player purchases, funds received from player sales are not allowed to be counted towards the wage bill, so dont come out with " some funds went towards paying players wages " ( as this is against FFP rules in its self. ) so that is stuck at 4 % rise a year - only commercial deals can allow a bigger rise than 4 % on wages which we have not done. have we spent more money on players coming in than we have received on out going players? plus the extra money we got from the tv deal this year? Stoke City have spent more money than us and pay more wages than us yet have less income than us ( when you take away money received from player sales ) so dont try tell me the ambition of the club is the same cause it is NOT, this is why players are leaving, they know this. take your rose tinted glasses off and stop licking arse........
