His training was questionable,,, some players didnt like him, played wrong players in wrong positions, took a solid back line and made it leak goals. stop stoke being the example of English football being a ruff and tough place to go, in other words, he ruined Stoke FC. its why stoke fans hate him.. i got to watch them train most days as i live round corner from the stoke training ground, and having watched them before Hughes and during and after, i can agree, he is a bad appointment imho. Boufal dont offer much going forwards tbh, remind me how many goals and assists and key passes Boufal has compared to JWP? Any way not going into that, for me atm JWP should be first name on the sheet, he is the only one who is creating chances that we seem able to finish, but at same time, having him on the right is no good either, Sims is far far better, but again, JWP needs to play, so i think a change of formation is needed. I think 4231 is a bit to defensive and Lamina is wasted sitting deep too, so i think a 41221 would be better suited with JWP Lamina and Romeu all sharing the 3 CM slots with Romeu sitting deep in the anchor role which will suit him JWP being the deep laying playmaker / Mezzala role with Lemina the box to box, that is a pretty solid mid 3 with Redmond, Tadic, Boufal and Sims all sharing the inside forward slots with Carillo the target man / DLF. We set up like that, we have the beast ( Lamina ) getting into the box / doing his driving runs forward, JWP and his range of passing / free kicks / corners and the defensive cover of Romeu in front of the back 4. But im not manager, so it'll never happen like that, we will stick to what we are doing and might just escape relegation

Spurs was monitoring Alli Long before Mitchell even joined Saints............................... so i dont think you can credit him for that, And wanyama was here before spurs even knew his name, and no one had heard of mane before he joined here and Alderweireld was a well known defender before he even come to Saints.. you just plunking any old thing from your head that you are a tad salty about and blaming it on Less? funny how he is still under contract at spurs but not involved in any thing relating to spurs whilst on gardening leave......... you going to credit him for spurs next 10 signings? even though he has not stepped foot in the spurs training ground for a year?

I think he is an awesome player but at the same time terrible, he has the ability to destroy teams which is why pep was so ****ed off at him and rightly so, but i dont think playing him on the left helps, he is obviously not comfy using his left foot, so should stay wide right imho, this i think will help him more, he does play better on the right than the left. I think the teams style of play / tactics and how the manager sets him up in the team is his down fall, i believe he would do far better and find form in a settled team playing wide right. Its like this, Tadic is best on left, Redmond right and Boufal center, but the manager plays them in the opposite roles and i think it is this which is the problem. Oh and playing Long as a striker, i love the dude to bits but he cant score to save the world, so has to stop playing him as a lone striker.

I think Redmond and Tadic offer more, but i also think they slow the game down to much or want to many touches instead of keeping it quick, and both tadic ad redmond have a bad habit of miss placing passes, even simpleton ones like 10 yards away ( how tadic manged to fluff a simple 10 yard pass to cedric is amazing on its own.) but if we are to play a defensive minded slow pace game as we are doing, then i dont think either tadic or Redmond should play as they go against how we want to play. No blame can be laid on to Gabbie as he can only play as well as the service he gets and tbh, i think he gets far better service with JWP on than he does with tadic and redmond on together as them two are just far to slow in getting rid of the ball / seeing a pass it just ruins it all for Gabbie. Really think we should play 3 5 2 or 442 diamond with JWP on some where preff right center mid or wing back if playing 3 5 2 so he can use his range of passing and be on the pitch for free kicks and corners cause every one else just cant take free kicks / corners, well they can, but god help them to ever get it past the first defender.

You know, during the game, i heard Hoddle comment with amazement to how JWP was not on the pitch seeing as we are incapable of scoring from open play and also thinks JWP is the best set piece taker in the league. and to be honest, i would agree with his opinion too, i dont see any body else in the league consistently put in top quality crosses, maybe we should turn some anger towards the players in the box who cant seem to finish unless its on a plate EG Davis at Brighton?. You are wasting your time with this pro managers forums, did you not know the posters here are world class managers, some even give tips to jose and pep. Seriously though, you put JWP in the united team of 96 and he is one of the best players on that team................ Ruud van Nistelrooy would have a field day off his crosses and free kicks and corners and long ranged passes................................ just cause we dont play to JWPs strengths dont mean he is a **** player. maybe, just maybe, if we played to his strengths and the team took advantage and played off of these his stats would be a lot better. can you picture JWP putting crosses into Harry Kane? you think Harry Kane would be half as wasteful as all are team is? can you picture Gary Nevile, Roy Keane , Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs and so on and so on and so on, not taking advantage and helping a JWP / David beckham to find space to use that amazing passing ability he has? obviously some people never watched Beckham at united and madrid to see how much space them teams used to make for beckham to nicely sit in with all the time in the world to pick out a pass. I am not saying he is as good as beckham, but he is not far off with his passing, range of passing, his crosses and free kicks and vision. this vid on youtube show cases his talents so so well ( This is just in one year this vid.......... ) Now you have to ask your self, if are players finished all the chances off in this vid, would you all be sat here questioning how good he is?. i mean who else can pass the ball around more than 10 yards on are team???? Some ppl dont know how good they got it till its gone... Ask Sadio how he feels for the main person that set up most of his goals / started the attacking moves off with some slick passing............... Ask Pelle about the goals he got from a JWP pass/ free kick / corner, Ask Lambert..... then ask them all about the ones they missed................. you will find they have missed far far far more chances created by JWP than they have finished..

JWP for me every day, he seems to be the only first team starter i feel wont jump ship as soon as a bigger club comes in and he has been here for years and years, be good for the club too to have a youth product as captain and even more so one who loves the club. Davis - good candidate but he wont be around much longer, need to think longer term. Romeu - again why not, think he'll be great, but he dont love the club and probs wont be here for long either. Bertrand although he would be great for the role and is 27 so can wear the band for a while, does he want to stay at the club long term? i hope so, but for me, its got to be JWP as he could well be here for another 10 + years and he is getting better and better every season.

I honestly dont think Liverpool can afford what would be needed to get JWP to leave Saints.......... would have to be a very very large contract to get him to leave us, can onl ysee teams like chelsea / city and united being able to get him to turn his head.

JWP for me, i think he is a fantastic player, great vision, control, passing, touch, yeah he is a worthy part of the team and should imho be first choice

Imho and in the views of most and according to stats, J Hart is a better keeper, but.....him and Bravo are different kinds of keepers, Bravo is alot more comfy with the ball and is more confident with passing it around the back line, where hart is more likely to just hoof it down field, and the hoofing it down the field are not Pep's way of playing.
