  1. I thought Tadic was decent in the first half, but lost it in the second. Set pieces can be so frustrating when you continue to make nothing of them... I found the first half quite enjoyable because we were playing so well, but you always know that if you don't turn that into goals it will come back to bite you. Thought Davis was excellent. Forster doesn't have much to do nowadays, but is often found wanting.

  3. I'll be disappointed to see him leave, and can see the argument for him being our 3rd choice defensive midfielder. However, he is an asset with a rapidly depreciating value, and we have the option to get some cash without significantly harming our team - wherever you place Cork in the pecking order, there is little doubt that we have other 'good' options, it's not like Burnley with Danny Ings. From a business perspective you can't hang on to these players on the basis that we MIGHT end up needing him, it's like staying in for the whole hand in poker just in case that one card you need comes down.
  4. This seems more of an odd statement. Surely you remember how you felt at the time of a goal, or a win, or do you suspend all emotion until May and then assess each game with hindsight? As an example, when I watch Le Tissier's goal at Ewood Park, I don't think "yeah but it counted for nothing because we lost". Also, say we end up finishing 8th - while it would be understandably disappointing, is it not better to spend a season near the top of table and trail off rather than spending all year mid-table or nervously looking over our shoulders at relegation for most of the year?
  5. Good one! To make it longer (if that ever actually works nowadays...) Ryan Bertrand, pass to Sadio Mane! Even though his diving isn't funny He goes left (he goes left) He goes right (he goes right) He makes Gary Cahill and John Terry look sh*te, So Ryan Bertrand, pass to Sadio Mane! The defenders could be any two, but the Chelsea goal springs to mind - but just trying to build on your suggestion. And as we have a new thread, I'm going to re-post my Pelle suggestion. To the tune of the hokey-cokey: Ohhh Graziano Pelle, Ohhh Graziano Pelle, Ohhh Graziano Pelle, Pelle and the Saints go Marching On!
  6. I was quite pleased with my "Tears for Fears" effort in a previous thread (could we not have just continued that thread...?), but this one works almost perfectly, if only his surname was Aloderweireld...! For JWP, you could probably work in something like "Even though he's from Pompey", might make a change than just saying how much we hate them, especially as he doesn't... How about a play on his intelligence: Ward-Prowse He's as clever as can be Ward-Prowse 'Cos he chose Saints, not Pompey Doesn't quite work in terms of rhythm, but it's a start!
  7. Has anyone been so infallible as Jose Fonte when it comes to conceding penalties/free kicks? I think most people would at least put Saturday in the "seen them given" category, and I'd joked long before then about Fonte's ability to escape the blame. In the last few seasons I have seen him get away with things that would have me screaming "how has the ref not seen that?!" if I was supporting the other team, and I definitely recall myself saying "If that was Hooiveld it would definitely have been given"! Not to take anything away from how superb he has been though - I had doubts about him in the Championship, saw him as a weak link first season up, but now he is immense and a true captain, not just a token armband wearer.
  8. I understand the point you're making, but then we shouldn't underestimate the importance of having a player who can deliver a good ball from set pieces - goals from corners count just the same as goals from open play, after all! I agree that he is still missing something, but we have had games (not that many, admittedly - Villa springs to mind) this season where the final ball has been sorely lacking - what price do you pay for someone who can pick that crucial pass/cross in the final third? Even if his all round game isn't quite at the level of some of our other midfielders, maybe his dead ball and crossing skills are worth his inclusion?
  9. I could be wrong on this, but moments before Elia was substituted he was close to the technical area and Koeman seemed to be ushering him away - I think he was telling him to get further away because the change was imminent and wanted the substitution to take longer!
  10. I think this would be an improvement on the current Pelle chant, to the tune of the hokey-cokey: Ohhh Graziano Pelle, Ohhh Graziano Pelle, Ohhh Graziano Pelle, Pelle and the Saints go Marching On! Here's one for Toby, although I don't think a chant should really poke fun at any of your own players... (to the tune of 'Everybody Wants To Rule The World", the first line fits with "Acting on your best behaviour"): He'll play with Fonte or Yoshida, Saving us from Gazzaniga, Thank the lord for Toby Alderweireld. Also, don't think I've seen any suggestion for using "Our House" for "Ward Prowse" - would be re-using a song for Lundekvam, but surely that's ok...? There's my first ever post on here, I've been reading for ages but registering has proved a challenge!
