As much as it was frustrating to have to stop a counter attack, especially when Kouyate seemed to be faking it, I think most of us were thinking back to the Arsenal game when that happened...
-
I think that was part of the joke...?
-
Agree, I was thinking this during the game but didn't want to post anything in the match thread in case I jinxed it! There were a few 'light' decisions that went against us early on (I'm thinking Noble/Redmond fouls), but he got most of the big calls right.

What is this rift between Redmond and Tadic the announcers mentioned?
mrfahaji replied to striker's topic in The Saints
It did seem there was a little tension between Puel and Tadic, but if I was hazarding a guess it would be a discussion as to why Tadic took so long to get a shot off when Reid got back and made the challenge. DT: "Why did you take me off boss? I was playing well" CP: "I thought you were tired, you seemed to take an age over that shot" DT: "Me? Take ages to shoot? That was a surprise to you?" -
Austin Man of the Match?! Woo! 3-0!
-
Think it was actually for the dissent. Didn't seem to be booking him and then Payet sarcastically applauded...
-
Similar to Tadic's chance earlier, Davis did well but definitely a feeling he could have done better.
-
As I was saying earlier, Tadic seems to want to take his time with things, and sometimes it pays off Can't help feeling that had Adrian got a toe on it everyone would be lambasting Dusan for dawdling...
-
One of Tadic's weaknesses (I guess occasionally it can pay off) is that he likes a bit of time on the ball, whether it's passing, dribbling or shooting.
-
Should score but also a great save from the keeper, it wasn't like he scuffed it or blasted over.
-
I think this is true - all the time the game is dull it kind of suits us. That being said, when we give the ball away needlessly or whack a cross into the stands it's pretty frustrating!
-
At HT I'd say Bertrand has been our only good player. Tadic and Austin have at least shown why they are important players in creating/taking chances. Fonte has looked a bit iffy and Cedric has been dreadful. Everyone else has been ok - shown some good bits of play but also some frustrating moments. As much as we haven't played that well, West Ham haven't either and we are perhaps due some credit for that. Nice to be ahead, hopefully we are set up well to counter, although I daresay they will be targetting Romeu even more than they have done up to now.
-
Is that Austin's first touch? Bet he enjoyed that one, surprised he didn't point to his dodgy knees while celebrating.
-
Never mind crossing, now we can't even throw it to our own team...
-
Probably the best one we've managed all day in fairness!
-
It's amazing quite how difficult professional footballers find it to cross the ball within a few yards of the desired target...
-
Would have been a harsh penalty but probably more than the Arsenal one...
-
Redmond seems to lack a bit of confidence when it comes to running AT people. Just then he's given the ball away poorly by misplacing a sideways pass. If he's going to take a chance I'd much rather it was trying to beat a man rather than half heartedly passing it straight to them.

But isn't being a proper supporter somewhat irrational? I cheer on 11 people I have no personal connection with every week, while my blood boils and my weekend is ruined by events out of my control on a regular basis. While there may be other factors to consider, such as being your hometown etc (and isn't that sort of pride pretty irrational too? Taking credit for where you were born or where you live?), if football supporting was a purely rational affair, we'd all be following Barcelona.
-
Ok maybe I'm being blind - I have a payment reference and a seat number - the seat number ends 1208, unless that's 1208 seats of the new allocation?
-
I'm hoping for the middle tier, as my Dad suffers from vertigo and apparently the top tier is not Vertigo-friendly...
-
Ah right I see. Not sure where you see those order numbers, but my booking reference ends with 5353 so that could be it.
-
Decided not to risk it, so ended up using an extra day of holiday and fly Wednesday night - Saturday morning. People are talking about their ticket 'numbers', do you get to choose where to sit? I booked my tickets and there was no mention of it. Trip may end up being a bit pricey, but could be a once in a lifetime chance. San Siro was always my favourite stadium as a kid (always used to choose it as the setting for my Fifa 98 games) - woo! Just need to apply for the holiday from work now...

Saints beat Crystal Palace 2-0 in EFL Cup. Sunderland at home next
mrfahaji replied to Hamilton Saint's topic in The Saints
I did wonder about the offside argument, but he doesn't (at least initially, camera cuts away soon after) even celebrate the goal, so think it was more frustration at not scoring than anything else. -
Thought the combination of expensive flights and unavailability of tickets would make this trip infeasible, but now looks like a possibility... How risky would it be to get a flight that only arrives in mid-afternoon to Malpensa...?!
