  1. That Spurs game was one of my best memories at St Mary's. The bitter feeling towards them (not for the first or last time!) was so intense, being Hoddle's first game back. Even though the 4-0 in the cup not so long after was a great day, I recall the 1-0 being a lot more intense and pure joy/relief when we won it. Never felt Delap was very good for us - always felt like he was on the brink of being good but never got there, was weird seeing him be such a success at Stoke - funny how little use we made of his throw ins. Can't remember the other overhead unfortunately!
  2. Yep, same as oldsarum above, I bought as part of the bundle and the tickets turned up Friday/Saturday.
  3. Has there been any word about when the Inter away tickets are being sent out? I've received my home tickets which is two weeks after the away tie...
  4. First club to have a player escape from police in an ambulance.
  5. Think I'd rather win this and Inter, then rest a few against Man City... as much as I can't stand them, it's going to be a tough game up there even with our strongest squad, whereas it be would be annoying if we dropped points at home to Burnley. I reckon a home win and the prospect of playing in the San Siro would be enough to keep our players buoyed mentally for both.
  6. Saints related? Hmmm I know the match, just trying to remember which keeper it was...! If Pires scored before Niemi went off, then Paul Jones?
  7. Rubbish, that's the only midweek evening I have something on for about 3 weeks! Was definitely keen... Would be interested to hear a few example questions if anyone goes and can remember them!
  8. Don't venture away from the Saints board much but have been reading through all these pages and pleased that the last post wasn't months/years ago! I'm a big fan of Mark Watson, not sure he's been mentioned - tends to meander through his act rather than 'telling jokes'. His radio show featuring Tim Minchin & Tim Key is also pretty good (not quite as good as the Ricky Gervais (Karl Pilkington) shows though...) Funny how some people are hilarious on panel shows, tv shows or snippets but an entire DVD is underwhelming - I am enough of a fan of Jack Dee and Jon Richardson to buy their DVDs but neither were as good as I'd hoped! David Mitchell may be the funniest person on panel shows in my book, him & Lee Mack are an excellent pairing on 'Would I Lie To You?', even if it is a fairly 'soft' show. As the thread is about unfunny comedians (I agree about Corden & Lemon)... How about Shappi Khorsandi? Jokes about being a woman and being Iranian, but the common theme being that none of the jokes are funny.
  9. I can relate to this - spent hours editing my own teams into Pro Evo last season, now going through it all again for 2017 - there's something so much more fun about having yourself and your friends and anything related to you personally in the game! Harks back to the days I used to edit an entire league in Fifa 99 and various Championship Managers...

    FIFA 17

Not sure I'll be getting Fifa this year - apparently it's very similar to the Fifa 16. I preferred PES last season - only reason to play Fifa was a better 'Be A Pro/Legend' mode - and this year's PES is even better than its predecessor!
  11. I've donated, as others have said a good cause and an incredible effort!
  12. Isn't it something like "not allowed to stop" or "has to be one continuous run up", which allows for players to stutter/slow down. I think the rule should be for every stutter the taker makes, the goalkeeper should be allowed 1 step off his line. Like a game of "What's the time Mr Wolf?" Would be pretty hard to monitor/enforce mind you
  13. Is there any reason why there's no MOTM poll in games we don't win? Someone at the game said "Romeu should have scored" - when was that? Austin should have done better with his second half chance but it seemed to me that thought Schmeichel was going to go down - not unreasonable and under those circumstances a chip would have been good. I found JWP's miss to be worse. I know it was his first touch (or close to it), but blasting it over showed a total lack of composure. Being stuck in Israel until Friday morning was hardly ideal preparation for this fixture, so a point is decent, but agree with the sentiment that we edged the game (although to be honest, we weren't exactly camped in their box) and can feel a bit disappointed we didn't take all three. The most encouraging thing for me is that the players seem to have got to grips with the new formation which a few weeks back looked like it might never happen. That win against Swansea really was crucial! Where will Boufal fit in? I hope alongside, rather than instead of, Tadic!
  14. So frustrating when we are in attacking territory and end up passing it back to centre backs...
  15. Terrible finish...
  16. Phew thought that was in from Okazaki
  17. Not a bad decision to take Tadic off - as much as I worry how we will create without him, he's been pretty quiet second half.
  18. Can only assume he thought Schmeichel was about to dive at his feet, then the chip would have been ideal
  19. Well played Forster and everyone else who raced back!
  20. Shame that cedric has to come off as he was looking better than he has done all season.
  21. If we deploy the same team as against West Ham, it leaves four outfield players (VVD, Romeu, Tadic, Redmond) who featured heavily in the game last night. If Puel wants to rotate and rest some of them, who are the alternatives? Obviously Tadic was meant to be rested as well, so imagine he was in the plans for Sunday. If Boufal is due to return soon, perhaps Puel is thinking that Tadic and Redmond will have a bit more rotation in the coming months, so can be pushed a bit harder at the moment.
  22. Someone came up with this on the Europa thread: Puel, Puel, Puel, Puel, Claude is the king of Israel (To the tune of Noel, Noel). Obviously it's only really good for two games, but in terms of name-fit, context-fit, familiarity and ease to sing, I doubt there is anything better!
  23. Criticising Hodgson/Neville - forgivable (even the speech impediment bit), people say things like that in private all the time and he wasn't totally critical either - said he won all the qualifiers, players let him down etc (maybe saying the players let him down is worse considering he is now in charge of them?!) Criticising the FA - difficult, puts the FA in a tough position, but ultimately an apology & explanation could be forgivable. Giving advice for how to circumvent the rules that the FA have put in place - unacceptable!
  24. I'm pretty sure this happened after he was appointed. It would have been one thing for Allardyce to slag off and undermine the FA in private before they approached him for the job, but the fact he did it during his tenure is what makes it all the more idiotic and unforgiveable.
