PFA questions Pompey's integrity: http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=721368&sec=england&cc=5739 Thursday trip to Fratton to ask some difficult questions...
-
The short answer is yes, without a doubt. Meat and dairy consumption create more Co2 (+ Co2 equivalent) emissions than any other food groups (both in total, and per calorie consumed). In addition, meat and dairy farming produce relatively few calories per acre. Dropping the meat would kill two birds with one stone - it would have a serious reduction in Co2 emissions, while increasing the amount of food produced globally (thus reducing some of the problems caused by population growth).

You're right, it has indeed been slightly colder since 2005. Each of these years has still been in the top 15 ever recorded though. That's why you need to ignore the peaks and the troughs, and focus on the trends. Or to put it another way, any fair way of interpreting the data would be to see a relatively steady global trend of increasing temperatures over the last 30 years. There isn't enough evidence since 2005 to suggest whether the temperature has reached a plateau, or is still increasing. NB, there are two claimants for warmest year on record NOAA suggest 1998; NASA 2005. The NOAA and NASA analyses differ slightly in methodology, but both use data from NOAA's National Climatic Data Center – the federal government's official source for climate data.

When asked about the lack of wages being paid by Pompey, Jamie said: "We're paid to play football and that's all we can worry about." Yeah, you've sort of missed the point of the question there Jamie."

Err, so you're trying to justify your claim that there hasn't been any warming in 11 years, by linking to data which clearly shows 2005 to be warmest year on record

Depending on which part of the planet you are standing on! Stand on either pole and the speed of the Earth's spin is next to nothing. Stand on the Equator and you are moving at 1038mph. Of course, the Earth is orbiting the Sun at speeds of over 65,000mph; Our Solar system is orbiting the centre of our Galaxy at over 550,000mph; And relative to other close galaxies, ours is moving at over 660,000mph.

Exactly. If he is indeed owed what he says he is (who knows!), then he won't be the person who pulls the plug. If they go into Admin, what's left of the Pompey cake will be divided up amongst the creditors, and Gaydamak will wind up losing the most. This is why he keeps on injecting just enough cash to keep them going, if he doesn't they will collapse altogether.
-
Well, yep, but de'd have to prove it all in a court, which I can't see happening (it would drag up paperwork (might prove who really owned the club!), and take months). Also his security measure of holding onto the land around the ground is a long term thorn in the side of the club. It doesn't effect their survival over the next few months. (Well, aside from scaring off potential investors). I think that they will look to pay back all the others first, and leave Gaydamak to pursue them through the courts.

Good point! If in Sept/Oct the Janurary Sky money was used to secure a loan, but since then the Premiership have decided to withhold the cash, you could find some pretty angry debt collecters surrounding Fratton over the next few weeks. Perhaps that's why Grant is hiding in unit 1?
-
Agreed. The football quality might be in decline, and the debts might be increasing, but so long as Glazer is about the club won't go bust. Even if Glazer looks like he's going to have to file for bankrupty, Manure's status would attract plenty of cash rich, ego manics to bail them out. They are quite possibly the biggest status symbol going....
-
Read that this morning, unless they know something the rest of the media doesn't, those figures look rather odd. All the other papers are suggesting the Sky money is only 7 million (perhaps 11million before tax?), and that it will be entirely witheld as Pompey owe c. 10million to other clubs in Jan... So unless the Times have new info, rest of the media seems to think Pompey will need to find: c. £3M Transfer fees - otherwise transfer embargo won't be lifted (so no new players) c. £1.8M Dec wages - otherwise players could walk c. £1.5M Jan wages (estimate after player sales) - otherwise players will walk c. £2M for late tax repayments - otherwise club is wound up. So even after the Sky money, it looks to me like they will need to find c. £8.3 million extra in January.
-
Just a thought, how will Pompey be remembered in 10 years time? With Leeds now resurgent, and their finances back on track, will the phrase 'doing a Leeds' be abandoned in favour of 'doing a Pompey'? Seems like a fitting epitaph...
-
So much depends on success on the pitch. Bolton and West Ham need to stay in the Premiership; Liverpool need to play in the Champions League. Hull's debt is probably just about servicable in the Championship. Arsenal, Chelsea and the two Manchesters are all okay, so long as their respective sugar daddies remain interested....

http://www.google.com/hostednews/ukpress/article/ALeqM5g20tkeM6Cv4YCm1mJwaHvwk0mung Gaydamak denies deceiving the new owners: "These chaps knew what they were getting. They must have realised there is a wage bill and the tax bill to meet every month. There are no surprises." (Also confirms that al Fahim bought the club for £1 (overpriced IMHO))

They can't blame this one on the bank (can they?). I wonder what today's excuse will be... perhaps: 'Wages were on route to Eastleigh, but were delayed by the unexpected change of training venue' or 'Due to the potential adverse weather conditions, our money transfer was suspended.' I'm going for 'wages were being transferred virtually via the interweb, but were lost due to a glitch in the network. Web security technicians have been pursuing the money all day. The monies were last seen entering a branch of Mizrahi Tefahot Bank in the Russian Federation city of Saratov.'
-
Yup, any club would be daft not to use it (but dafter still to rely on it!)
-
Hmm, so James now thinks they have a chance of going on another cup run.... http://www.portsmouth.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=183519 "2010 sees David backing E.On's Great Saves campaign, where fans share their tips on how to save energy with each other. Those deemed to have come up with the most unique and inventive ways of cutting back on their energy usage could win tickets for the FA Cup final as well as get their hands on the famous trophy." Oh, I see, the cr*p performances are Pompey's way of saving energy?
-
Palace need to sell, so the price is determined almost entirely by the number of rival bidders. I'm sure that Palace, Watford, Pompey etc will all be bombarded by opportunistic bids on the last day of the window...
-
http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11095_5832704,00.html so unless the embargo is lifted, Fulham will be O'Hare's last game as a Skate... (He's cup-tied for the Coventry replay isn't he?)

Utaka's not going anywhere, he won't be daft enough to leave Pompey while there is still some blood left to drain from their corpse. Likewise James, unless he's offered one last payday elsewhere. Essentially, anyone overpaid, or too old to be sure of a contract elsewhere will stay. Some players such as Kevin-Prince Boateng can't move, as they have already had two clubs this year. But the most saleable assets will be out of their like a shot. Basically, if they don't get paid today, the following players should all find it fairly easy to pick up similar or better wages elsewhere: Mike Williamson - (did he play for Watford in August? If so can't move) Tal Ben Haim - (His wages might be too high to want to move. Also did he play for City during preseason? If so can't move) Asmir Begovic - as good as gone. Marc Wilson Younes Kaboul - (not sure whether he played for Spurs in preseason) Nadir Belhadj
-
It's payday, three strikes and they're out. If Chainrai (or Gayd... I mean al Mirage) coughs up some wages I'd imagine it'll be reported before 10... If we've heard nothing by lunch, you can bet there will be agents and lawyers swarming around Skatesville. Pass me the popcorn, I do hope today's pantomime doesn't let us down....
-
I made it to the Exeter game because I was in Southampton (something to do with the day before). I didn't go to the Luton game because I wasn't anywhere near Southampton, had I been in Hampshire I'd have been at the game. I think the answer you are looking for is Christmas.

Yup, here's the other pages the same plank has edited recently. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/213.105.221.129 So the culprit is: http://www.ip-adress.com/reverse_ip/213.105.221.129
