  1. So Thurday 15th July is the new date for the calandar then? Shame it's not the 8th of July, as it would have been fitting for the knife to be twisted on the anniversary of this thread... BTW, the most certainly haven't got away with it.
  2. Admittedly still on 10.2, but Pompey always failed to go bust, and on most games ended up qualifying for Europe at the end of the first season. By season 2 Pompey had cleared their debts and were back spending silly money again. Assume 10.3 is far more realistic.
  3. Don't worry, he doesn't. The day he admits it's all gone tits up is the day the club implodes. He has to keep the earplugs in, and pretend it's all progressing as planned...
  4. Agree, his post World Cup show is awful, he just talks endlessly like a nervous housewife on speed. The jokes tend to miss their mark, but at least having Ms Crouch gives him a witless comedy foil. I don't care what weight he is. He simply isn't funny. Also, is is just me, or is Gavin & Stacey overrated. Sure it's funny in parts, but it's hardly laugh a minute, it's overacted, and doesn't have the clever situations or cringe factor of say the Office of Peep Show. Obviously it's better than 90% of the dross they call comedy (anyone see BBC 3's Scallywagga?), but is being vaguely palatable really enough to be given your own show. Let's face it, he's in his thirties, and seems to still be stuck with the 'Nuts/Zoo/Loaded' humour of a misogynist 17 year old. Again, I don't care what weight he is.
  5. Yeah, but I bet their researcher takes an optimistic view of the quality of the aging squad, untried youth, and worst of all financial outlook. My guess is that most games will see them favourites for promotion, however unrealistic that is in reality. The Saints squad might also be a bit less of a challenge, especially if it's kept on freespending mode. There will be a good team in place, plenty of cash, and not even too many deadweights to oust.
  6. Sorry Hypo, but this is a daft hypothetical theory. 1) Cortese has denied the intention to sell during his Beeb interview. So was he lieing? 2) The potential, say, £30 million profit really isn't going to line Markus' pockets much at all. Unless you are saying Markus is the kind of guy to take a fairly risky and effort-filled punt on an investment which might just increase his wealth by 1%.
  7. Good idea. Hmm, what else can I be distracted by, perhaps a round of tea...
  8. Cheers Baj, recognise there are plenty of other priorities to tackle first... I'm just not liking this glancing over my shoulder with the mouse on the minimise icon thing...
  9. Had a look for similar thread - couldn't find one. Much as I love the new look, it's not exactly ehem, work friendly. The bright red look is great for home use, but it'd be really handy to be able to browse more covertly. Is there any chance of getting a really basic look and feel - preferably black text on white, no images, no logos, no colours, no smilies etc? I know that sounds cheeky after all the hard work that must have been put in at the weekend, but it'd be a really handy feature... (of course I'd entirely understand that you might prefer to prevent me browsing covertly to help cut down on the frequency of my working hour posting... silver lining etc..) If this option does exist and this post is irrelevant, please could someone tell me how to hide the red colours... cheers
  10. I like the kit, but I won't be getting one. For me the red-nose logo is just overpowering. It's too large, and seems to stick out on the plain white background. It might have looked more acceptable had they made a monochrome version of the Saints badge for this year. Such a shame, as the sash looks superb, but why the awful logo?
  11. Stu, how did you manage to misinterpret Scudamore so badly?
  12. For very good reason, nobody on here should step up to 'represent' us or the fans. Simply put, it won't work. However, I would like to see the results of some polls (and only polls, not threads) broadcast by the local media. The caveat being that the question asked by a poll needs to be asked in a fair way (e.g. the 'will you reneue season ticket' poll should have had a way which allowed for people who previously didn't hold season tickets to vote, as I would guess many of them voted 'no', but had no intention of getting a season ticket anyhow). Perhaps Danny could be asked to consider presenting some of the more balanced poll results in the Echo?
  13. Are you suggesting that the club have pulled out of the Calderon deal simply to allow the club to fund the removal of the £3 'tax' and to finance the admin for an installment plan instead?
  14. Interesting that Brighton have "added a clause which would allow the club to cancel the deal after 6 months should he [Calderon] not recover from his hip injury". The medical theory sounds more likely...
  15. No, he doesn't have any money invested in CSKA. He sponsored them back in 2004/5, but since then isn't involved with them at all... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roman_Abramovich#CSKA_Moscow
  16. All very interesting, but shouldn't this be in General Sports?
  17. Yup:
  18. Its certainly an interesting development. We need 2 right backs this summer, so perhaps Calderon got wind of another signing, and refused spend a year warming the bench? Who knows.
  19. Good call. Would have been embarrassing had they run with the new kit story before getting a signature, and then found out that Calderon had backed out.
  20. Error message displayed is: Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 33554432 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 12895 bytes) in /var/www/vhosts/saintsweb.co.uk/httpdocs/forum/showthread.php on line 1275
  21. Baj, I stupidly followed another poster's advice on the Pompey saga thread, and enabled 'threaded' mode. Now an error is displayed when I attempt to view the thread (obviously can unenable the threading mode, and view fine) Any chance of implementing something to prevent threaded mode in larger thread? Such as http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=82960?
  22. Answered my own quetion I think: Illichivets are owned by Volodymyr Boyko the owner of http://www.ilyich.com.ua/ (Edit: who apparently is the 6th richest person in the Ukraine, with an estimated wealth of either $3.15 billion or $1.3 billion) both less than Markus...
  23. So which of these teams is owned by someone involved in steel? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_football_clubs_in_Ukraine
  24. Another attempt to try to undermine Griffin. Android has tried the frontal assault and got beaten swiftly back. Now he's trying to put the wind up the creditors... 'If you reject my CVA, Pompey won't be attractive enough for anyone to want to rape, and you dear creditors won't get any of your cash back'.
  25. If only Stewart had pre prepared a few witty come backs. I don't know, something like 'this from a man who needs Rob Brydon to be funny', or something. Why do I dislike Corden so much?
