  1. Textbook extremist response. It's freedom of speech innit? If you can't stand the relentless drivel simply put your fingers in your ears. Don't think about trying to criticise the nonsense we post though, coz that's Nazi censorship innit. Strange how every thread Turkish and Dune post on gets sidetracked and wrecked. People should wear what they want to. Telling them otherwise is out of order. I have no wish to don a wig and facepaint, but I'm increasingly tempted by threads like this.
  2. Don't think it is a fake - here's the original: http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/match-reports/southampton-4-0-coventry---sunday-811023
  3. Financially both West Ham and Birmingham need to go up. As such I'd quite like both to fail. However, in terms of Saints picking up points next season, I feel Birmingham is our best chance. Overall, i feel Blackpool have had their chance quite recently leaving Cardiff as the team who deserve it most.
  4. I can understand the passion of arguing for a larger capacity, but what motivates those who argue against it? Is it spite? Is it just for sake of having an argument? Also don't forget money spent on tangible assets will be written off as shares. This means an increased hypothetical sale price, and increased revenues each season until then. I think it more likely than not that our capacity will increase in the next 5 years.
  5. Get your CV up on http://www.seek.com.au/ asap... that way you can find job much faster - depending upon your profession & experience etc.
  6. Can I just point out as an example of the amount of funding Sport England provide, their total awarded to all projects in Southampton over the last 5 years was c. £660k. That's what, c. 3 months of Ta Ben Heim's wages?
  7. It's hard to read between the lines, but I think the league are well aware of the loophole the Pompey have opened up - why else would innocent emails enquiring about the loophole without mentioning the club have been answered by the standard copy and paste reply relating to not being able to discuss the club. IMO the league will be getting legal advice about the situation. Their top priority is to avoid being sued (and losing), so they have to be careful that any descion (or non-decision) has its legal ramifications fully considered. If they hit Pompey with a penalty that doesn't exist within the current rules then they will have to considering the following: Would cheatsfc be able to sue? Would the penalty set a pecedent - and if so, what is the appropriate level to set the penalty at. How would the penalty affect the public perception of the league ("We were forced to liguidate when the league hit us with a second penalty - straws, camels etc" - won't look good if the tabloids start taking the side of the cheats). Of course, not hitting the cheats also comes at a risk - can the loophole be restrospectively closed? If the cheats survive (both relegation and liquidation), would the relegated Championship club be able to sue? The league must be hoping that they don't have to make up the rules mid season, and can make a change at the end of the season. However, the cleanest scenario for the league would be if Pompey are relegated without requiring a further penalty. This way the league can't be sued, and can't be blamed, but can still get the loophole(s) closed to prevent further clubs from attempting the 'cheating' route. Perhaps I'm too optimistic?
  8. Love it. "F*** off, f*** off, you cheating b*stards, cos, you'll never play here again, you'll Never play here again" [NB, I know it has an extra syllable, just replace "walk" with "play here" and it fits fine]
  9. This Scott chap avoided all of the tough questions. The £5m he hopes to raise, seems to be a 'purchase price' - but he avoided all questions about how he planned to pay wages. His plan hinges on removing the high earners - but he has no explaination about how he plans to offload TBH et al. Why he thinks he will succeed where Birch and Chainrai have failed confuses me
  10. That makes more sense... I was starting to think that our players weren't on the sort of money I thought they were last year... Lambert or Fonte on c. £15k doesn't sound enough. Lambert/Fonte on c. £20k... makes you realise why he signed for us in the first place.
  11. Excellent news - simply the best thing we could have been told. Despite rumours to the contrary, the club is debt free, and hasn't currently got any liabilities to the Liebherr estate. The 93% is a red herring. In League 1 our income can't have much exceeded 10m - so basic maths tells me that 9.5m of wages of c. £8,500 per week spread over a 20 man squad. Realistically that would give us 5 players on c. £15k; 5 players on c. £10k; and 10 players on c. £5 per week. Since promotion last year I'd predict that our wages as a percentage of turnover will be currently be c. 60-70%.
  12. How did you? Was it because I said so in my first post on this thread?
  13. I do hope you're fly fishing, us veggies don't like biting for trolls who use live bait.
  14. I don't understand anyone who is saying that we shouldn't be considering bringing in a new keeper. Right now, we have one excellent keeper, who is having the best season of his career. However Kelvin is 35, which is when most keepers start fading. Sure he is showing no signs of it yet (he seems better than ever to me), but he has at most 2 seasons left at this level. I strongly think we should start next season with KD wearing the number 1 shirt. However, does anyone actually think Bart has what it takes to step up if needed? Forcast? It's fairly obvious that whatever division we are in next season we will need to have a new keeper brought in. The only debate I can see is whether we buy a backup option or buy a keeper to challenge for the starting position. From the evidence of the purchases we have seen in every other position, our management will only consider bringing a player who is competing for the place. I can't see them settling for a backup, they will be looking for someone of at least equal quality. In fact, when was the last time we brought in a 'backup'? Forte? Murty? Due to Kelvin's age, this new keeper will almost certainly be much younger, probably between 24 and 28. He will be playing at a level similar to Kelvin, but will be considered to have the potenial to eclipse him. Who knows which country this keeper is currently playing in - all I do know, is our scouting system must be keeping their eyes peeled, and may even be actively looking. NB, I doubt someone like Kaspar would want to warm our bench.
  15. I agree about expecting a loss for this period. We had a relatively expensive wage bill throughout this period (probably around £8-£10million I'd guess). We added to this by bringing in Forte, Chaplow, Guly, Butterfield, Dickson & Richardson - and the only notable saving I can remember was losing Thomas off of the wage bill (that seems like ages ago!). Our match day income (after costs) would have brought in c. £6-8m (again a guess). Then there will be the cost of releasing Pardew - who knows how much he cost us. Nigel would have also had some form of fee on arrival. I'd anticipate that the total loss for this period will be c. £7-10m , (not including AOC) which is an absolute steal considering where we are right now. [To put it into context, I'd estimate that over all three years of being in the ownership of the Liebherr's, we have brought in c.£40m, and cost c. £60m to run (including purchase price). But in that same time, our value as an asset has increased from c. £15m, to c. £60-70m. If (big if) we are lucky enough to get promoted, we could see c. £78m (made up of c. + £30m TV money & + £48m parachutes over 4 years). Essentially, so long as we don't start bringing in today's equivents of Tal Ben Haim or Kanu on ridiculous contracts, we should easily cover all the loses next season.] I predict that when the figures are published, some on here will start moaning - I could already make a stab at the most likely people (I'm guessing a certain Austria-based poster might be rather prolithic - he always is when there is a hint of negativity to be found). I'll try to head you off - this is a sustainable loss, and not something to get worked up about. I also predict that the skates will see a second reported loss in a row, and start getting confused between the sustainability of our position and their own... what money on somebody posting about 'Scum in more debt' on one of their forums, followed by comments of 'cheats' and invalid comparisons to their own situation. When they do this, they will be wrong, but will also, no doubt, Corp and the other web-toed phew will forget logic, and bring it up every few weeks for a good bit of trolling (like Dalek with his Hoddle-love or Dune with his extremist sympathies).
  16. Nothing whatsoever for vegans... mind you who eats at games? I'd love to see a better range of food and beers, with a shorter queues etc, but honestly don't see the need to eat or drink for the 2 hours I'm at the stadium. Don't forget the club doesn't care what food is offered - only that the company offering it is willing to pay more for the sales booths than any other company was willing to. As there is a short timeframe for selling products in (realistically less than an hour a game), any company winning the contract, will invariably offer only those products which have the highest markups - hence the options will be syrup-based drinks (bought at, what, about 20p, sold at £2-3), and cheap microwaved-meat/cheese product (bought for c. 30p, again sold for £2-3). Frankly, anything tasty, vegan, or healthy would either have too small a markup to make it profitable, or sell in quantities which wouldn't be viable. As a veggie, I understand why the food (and drink) options at the stadium are rubbish, and will always be rubbish. Instead of worrying about it I choose to eat before and/or after the game.
  17. On a different line of thought, but as the first payment of the first CVA is due in about a fortnight, I thought I'd check out the repercussions for not paying. As far as I can see, the only thing that might happen is the creditors might try to force the company to stop trading. In this case, am I right in thinking that Baloo and Gaydamak junior will again prevent HMRC from getting justice for us taxpayers? I was hoping that the law might have some more tangible repercussions. http://www.beatmydebt.com/news-articles/What-happens-if-I-cannot-pay-my-company-voluntary-arrangement.htm "If a company starts a CVA and then fails to maintain the agreed repayment plan, the ultimate remedy for the creditors is that it will be forced to stop trading and closed. It is therefore very important for directors not to agree to a CVA unless they believe that the required payments can be met." "Very often creditors will agree to reducing payments still further if the alternative is no return at all. This is especially the case if there is an opportunity that payments will be increased again once trading improves. However, if trading conditions become so bad that the company can no longer continue to make acceptable payments into its CVA, then it is likely that the creditors will agree that the company should be closed."
  18. At 1.85m he was a bargain. This made it a low risk deal, and i'm sure someone like Wolves or Leicester would happily match or better that if we did decide to cash in. Having watched Billy being interviewed, i got the impression that he is lacking in confidence. A bit of luck and he will come good IMO. Will he get on the scoresheet against his former club this weekend?
  19. You're right, I was adding an extra beat. I think I was trying to fit the words 'play here' (or 'play us') into the same beat taken by 'walk' in the original. That way you end up with something like "F*** off, F*** off, with fear in your hearts, cos you'll never play us again, you'll never play us again". Bad idea, was too early in the morning!
  20. This would sound good sung to Liverpool's You'll Never Walk Alone IMO. Think the Douglas Adams quote would make the best banner though.
  21. According to people on Pompey Online, Mullins' contract expires in July, so unless it's renewed, they've probably seen the back of him. Also, the rumor going around skatesville is that Henderson's loan fee was c.£400k, with an option to buy for c. £1.2m in the summer... Now I know Big Sam is desperate to avoid the pompey liquidation point penalty... but those figures seem rather inflated to me. Would you loan a back-up keeper for almost half a million?
  22. Confirmed: http://www.readingfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10306~2659263,00.html
  23. I think you'll need to give a few more details. What software/product is your forum based on? I assume it's open source?
  24. Personally, I think the punishment for admin should be a 15 point penalty that carries over (so that on relegation the point difference between the team who have been into administraton and safety is carried over into the following season, up to a maximum of the ful 15 point). I.e. Pompey would have entered the Championship on -9 points in sept 2010, which would have seen them finish only 2 places lower in 18th. In addition, all directors of a club that enters admin will be excluded from becoming directors of any other league club for 5 years. All owners, will be excluded from passing the FAPPT at any other club for 10 years. That way punishments stick, and the people who caused the mess get the real penalties.
