Has Sigurdsson signed yet?!?!

I think we would begrudgingly wish all players well IF we got the right fee, and it was a genuine chance to play for that player to move as far up the chain as his ability allows him. But this whole fiasco comes down to the pathetic love-in that they've had behind SFCs backs, the ridiculous outcry from their ex-players, the fact they've raided us for a few years and now the attitude of the player. I don't care if it means keeping an unhappy player for a season purely out of principle, and to show other players that contracts mean something and they'll be sold on our terms. Barring serious injury, he'll be worth a shed load next year and I suspect the year after, and with all the money flying around we can stomach his wages easily. I love the club and the game in general, but these incidents make me think about renewing my ST rather than doing it automatically.

Regardless of the agent talk, do these guys not have the decency to be professional and respect their employer? I just can't believe what utter Wayne Kerrs they can be. Surely his employment contract is being breached by him not wanting to join in? Surely kicking the ball in a team environment is one of the terms? I'll be honest, it makes me want to kick these guys squarely in the nuts.

You keep him without a doubt. It'll be far more damaging to him than us in the long run. We simply can't cave in to these players who don't want to honour their contracts.

One greedy b***ard, there's only one greedy b***ard. I can hear it now.

Oh goody

I have no idea why the coaching staff would want a player who wants out of the club and is on strike, on the tour. Totally counter-productive. You'd send him home reminding him he's got 5 years left on his contract and he'll be a bigger help than he knows helping the U23s out. Oh, and if he can get to the ground there are some 1st team boots that need cleaning.

Are these the same cretins who disappeared after our relegations, only to return once we did to the PL?
-
And Brighton didn't have to sit through most of the dross we did last season.

SSN: Southampton want to sign Luciano Vietto

I guess they'd have to make sure any terms with AM we have for this player don't have any loopholes that would leave us exposed to this chap "doing a Toby" on us. -
I don't mind players going if the money is right - I DO mind players going to Liverpool if the money is right.

Given the recent shenanigans, he's only got himself to blame. Respect your employer, and they'll respect you. Go behind their back for cosy dinner dates with other managers, and that's just get a whole lot tougher. What's he going to do if we say he's not leaving other than sulk? Transfer request means zilch. He'll be worth a ton of cash next summer - and if he isn't we'll keep him. It's really not a difficult scenario. People in the workplace sulk all the time. If that's what he's doing.
-
This is partly why I preferred the lower leagues - the opportunity to win something, be champions, move up the food chain. Don't get me wrong I like the PL, but those pitch invasions are only going to happen again if we avoid relegation on the last day or get relegated and then promoted again.
-
Sums up how I feel about it. It's terrible and tragic, but I can't help thinking that were it my daughter I wouldn't want the whole saga played out in the public eye. Let's face it, kids/families all over the country/world are in the same predicament. I just hope the family get some privacy - if that's what they want.
-
Can someone please tell me why handing in a transfer request means that that changes things? Seems frankly ridiculous that you're on a long contract......but a transfer request changes everything. Why do people/tabloids think that a player doing this means they'll be allowed to leave? Or am I being an idiot who's missing something?

Anyone recommend a decent VPN?? I've used IP Vanish and it seems to slow everything to a standstill.

Jesus wept. Thanks for the transfer request Virgil - but you're going nowhere. See contract for further information. Whether he stays or goes is 100% up to the club unless there are clauses in his contract that are met. Just telll him and the dole queuers that he's not for sale.

I'd take a few exciting 2-2 draws and 3-2 wins any day over dull defensive football, even if that means not getting as many points. I want my team to entertain and excite me, and actually I think we all enjoy being on the edge of our seats for the bulk of the games we watch.
-
He hasn't improved at all since he left IMO so not sure why we'd bother. Certainly not for £20m.
-
fair enough - the average was 21k ish that season....i'm sure I recalled rainy weekday evenings with 15k....romantic licence perhaps.
-
That's not a dig at those who now fill up the remaining 15-20k seats every home game, I should add.
-
Had we not been relegated there are an abundance of "might haves" too - so we can't say whether or not we're better off now than we would have been. It wasn't Crouch's fault we went down. It was just one of those things. I don't know about anyone else, but I think I preferred our time in the lower leagues. Fewer egos, more honest football and where anyone could beat anyone pretty much and less razzmatazz. Plus although half the attendance we get now, at least they were saints fans and not premier league fans.

If he'd only taken the ball into the corner against Everton...

Could end up with Palace's 2/3rd choice. That would be quite a coup.
