  1. What are you talking about? They are not "noble" reasons, where did I ever say that. They are pragmatic reasons which everyone who decides not to go regularly (apart from teh Lowe boycotters) use. They involve things like children, expense, working, living a long way away and getting out of the habit of going to live football regularly on Saturdays when I started playing football myself when I was 17. Pretty boring stuff really wouldn't you agree? And the reason I did not mention it earlier. And guess what, I have never ever NOT gone to a match because I did not like, the Chairman/Manager/Groundsman/Tea Lady. I went to the 1976 Cup Final but did not go to the last one. Why? Because as I no longer go to many matches I felt it unfair to take a ticket from someone who did. Now that is "noble".
  2. That is why we (and 99.9% of teams) do not play total football. I don't know where this idea came from. Is it just because JP and Wotte are Dutch? Even the great Brazilian side of 1970 did not play total football. When was the last time you saw a Dutch team playing total football? They did it for a while many years ago when they had the players who could do it.
  3. Same poster, same doom-laden pessimistic post. A new year is just around the corner Alpine, why not make a new year's resolution to try and be less bloody miserable?
  4. I do go to games, just not many. That is my choice for reasons other than who the Chairman is. I would not say I prefer to "support" from afar but that is the way it is.
  5. Actually I am far from it Stanley. But if you think that smoking makes you interesting good luck with that. We all have to die of something but I choose to die of something that is not related to what I chose to put in my lungs thanks very much. And more so in realtion to my children. It is funny isn't it. You harbour this deep seated hatred of Rupert Lowe whose only crime seems to be that he is a toff with rosey cheeks who runs your football club in a way you are not ahppy with - but you are quite happy to poison other people's lungs despite the fact that they have chosen they don't want to smoke??? If it helps, I view that attitude with the same contempt as you hold Lowe. If that makes me boring I can live quite happily with that.
  6. Perhaps we do. Just as we consider how much strain these drug addicts put on the NHS.
  7. If it means that fewer people are being butcherd by drunk drivers and fewer people are being killed as "passive" smokers then it is no bad thing. I am fed up with those who think it is perfectly okay to tramble over other people's rights to get all sanctimonious about their own. The pubs I drink in are full of people who either now walk or get cabs. They do not smell of beer or body odour and it is a pleasure to return home and not stink of an ashtray. It is also a peause to go out for a meal now with the kids and not worry about what they are breathing in. If people want to continue to smoke no one is stopping them. Just do it where you damage your own lungs and not mine, my kids or those of the people who chose not to smoke. Not hard is it? And if you think that this is only down to Brown, let's see what the next Tory party do when in power shall we? No one is saying that you can't carry on damaging your own health - just that you can no longer damage other people's (apart from the selfish ones who still think it is okay to smole where it says no smoking).
  8. Excellent post. You need to read this Alpine and friends.
  9. So Stanley, it doesn't bother you to have people who chose not to smoke have to inhale yours? This "nanny" law is here for a reason and it is here to protect people who do not want to breath in harmful fumes from those of you intent on damaging themselves. It is now a pleasure to go to a pub and other public places and not be polluted with other people's smoke. This is one piece of nanny legislation that should be applauded.
  10. Please bring Um Pahars' nephew in to help run the club asap.
  11. Dutch dream? I thought it was a pragmatic decsion based on our financial position and the need to bring on the younger players?
  12. Yep, play off is his only full seaosn and midtable when he left. What came after was so much better wasn't it Alpine??? LOL Go check the stats, like him or not he still has the best record of any manager at SFC since the war...but don't let the facts get in the way of your agenda.
  13. Do you ever watch SpongeBob SquarePants Alpine? I swear you are related to Squidwood! As for my "lovers"??? You really do need to grow up and leave the playground behind you mate.
  14. I think that you can take anything that Wilde says with a pinch of salt.
  15. We all do things we shouldn't when driving and fortunately 99.5% of the time there are no repercussions. Fiddling with an ipod is not different to fiddling with a moble phone though and the outcome was tragic, not just a "minor" occurance. It was a bit like the crash that Channon was involved in and was reported as "minor". How can any RTA be classed as minor when someone losses their life?
  16. Nick, Alpine could link the sinking of the Titanic to Lowe!!!
  17. I don't get this "experiment" thing about JP? He was a manager before with a track record in bringing on youth. Whether he is good or bad here, I would not say it is an experiement. If we can't afford to pay senior pro wages and have to bring on youth, wouldn't it make sense to use someone with that experience?
  18. We keep hearing about this, but do you think that people like STrachan and Redknapp roll over and play dead with their Chairmen/CEOs? I am sure they would love to be called puppets.
  19. Why enjoy a good result when there are plenty of poor results to fall back on eh Alpine? Funny though, I don't recall you saying the same things when we were struggling under Pearson???
  20. LOL, nice one. But Alpine will never back track on his views about Burley. In his world things were much better when we were nearly relegated after Burley left and making the play offs was pure luck.
  21. That Alpine finds an Austrian club to support. That we get through this season without being relegated and going into administration and that we get stronger from the experiences this season and move forward next season.
  22. They have Woolworths in Austria too?
  23. Last year all the cyber jockeys on here were saying give the kids a game, they can't do any worse. LOL We struggled last season with an experienced manager and experienced players and stayed up on th elast day of the season. Did anyone really think this season would be any better with a new set up and reliance on youth? This isn't going to work overnight. It might not work at all. But if they have put a three year plan in place then we will only know how successful it has been after three years. As fo being "wrong" Alpine. If you play black at roulette every spin you will be "right" on occasions. You come on every day and are negative every day and, with the nature of clubs like SFC you will be "right" by default on occasions. I don't recall anyone with any semblance of intelligence (including anyone at the club) saying we were going to set the league alight this season, so how exactly were people "wrong"?
  24. How can you speak for everyone? I know plenty of Saints fans who, although they are unhappy with the situation, think that the current board are the only people around at the moment who can deal with the current situation and spend most of their time talking about the team rather than the Boardroom.
