This is what I took exception to. Where is the respect in these comments? “When” not “if”. As I have said before, only focussing on possible negatives that may or may not happen at some point in the future.

The reactions from the people who will benefit from this bill spoke volumes yesterday. More and more counties are moving in this direction. It is all about showing compassion and humanity and allowing people a choice. The focus on possible coercion is a side show. This isn’t going to affect most people anyway. I made my glib comment to hypo because you would think that this is eventually going to be all about getting rid of pesky sick people to read his comments. He posted that it was a sad day. Not to the people who think that this is a major step in the right direction and something that a progressive country should be doing it isn’t.

Really? You have been posting on here as long as I have. That is tame in comparison to what I have faced over the years from him and the group of people who think like him. And I have never called him a c**t. You may disagree with me, but constantly posting laughing emojis on posts about dead Palestinians is far worse than my comment.
-
Another dumb comment. Why would I think that anyone would delight in someone else dying in pain? Hypo made a remark about the scheme all falling apart in a few years and has, from the posts I have read, constantly focussed on the possible negatives. This bill gives people a proper choice at last. I really don’t understand why anyone would have a problem with others having that opportunity. Yes, it needs to be properly policed etc, but that is a separate issue and will be addressed I’m sure. Would you argue against the principle of individuals being allowed to die with dignity in certain circumstances?

In real time I thought Armstrong was offside. I think that the linesman flagged too.
-
As Brian Clough once famously said, if you aren’t interring with play, what are you doing on the pitch! You are quit right of course, if you are standing in front of the goal anywhere near the ball, you can’t help but be interfering. Which is precisely why the Arsenal goal should have been ruled out too.

She was right about P&O, but we can’t have government ministers telling us what they really think. Look at the trouble Lammy got himself into after saying what many people think about Trump! -
You really are a card. Go find the evidence that I loved it when Twitter banned Trump. You call other people loons but you make stuff up and then rail against it. I barely looked at Twitter and even less at X so I couldn’t give a monkeys about Trump being banned. In his case it is better than his rankings do get a wide audience because more people can see how deranged he is. For someone who says he doesn’t support Trump you spend an awful lot of time defending him. Calling others loony lefties does not detract from you being a blinkered conspiracy theorist nic. Little wonder that you spend so much time defending one of the worlds most prolific conspiracy theorists. With freedom of speech comes responsibility. If you think that either Trump or Musk use freedom of speech responsibly that also comes as no surprise. By the way, if you don’t like being called mental perhaps it isn’t wise to call others loons.
-
If it had been a cross and well over his head you could argue that, but he was in the middle of the goal and attempted to play the ball. I really don’t think we have anything to complain about other than the current offside rules are too open to interpretation.
-
I am not the one who posts laughing emojis on posts about the innocent Palestinians being butchered in Gaza and the West Bank. You really need to look at yourself hypo. You can call me all the names under the sun, but anyone reading your posts over the years can see you for what you are. You used to follow me around and respond to my every post within seconds and I am the troll? You really are a massive hypocrite. What is respectful in posting that this will all go pear shaped in a few years time? You clearly have issues with it which is your right, but the majority of the people in this country want it, so as you told me with Brexit, accept that this is what the majority want.
-
I don’t think that is the issue. Armstrong is in an offside position and makes an attempt to play the ball. That makes him interfering with play I assume. If a player is in the middle of the goal and the ball is played across him when he is in an offide position I don’t see how that isn’t interfering which is why I don’t understand why we conceded one like that this season. It’s all too complicated and open to interpretation now. We need to go back to the old days when a player is offside if he is beyond the last player when the ball is played forward.

There have been a lot of positive comments about what she has achieved so far and even some suggestions that she will get another high profile job eventually. -
Such a strange game. Played off the park in the first half but could have gone in level. How Downes didn’t get sent off I don’t know. So much better in the second half. I guess technically the goal was off side as Armstrong made an attempt to play the ball, but we had one of those against us allowed. I wonder what side we are going to field against Chelsea with so many players out?

Agreed. Let us hope that none of us or our loved ones ever have the need of assisted dying, but at least now we will have a choice

Not so small, but it does give me pleasure. https://www.theguardian.com/world/gallery/2024/nov/29/inside-the-restored-notre-dame-cathedral-in-pictures

Common sense has prevailed, but it is only over the first hurdle and it still needs to get through the Lords and I doubt if the bishops will be for it. Don’t worry hypo, it isn’t mandatory so you are safe. The idea that it will all go wrong after a few years and the rules relaxed is just your assumption. It’s only a shame that you didn’t have the same view on Brexit when you cast your vote, eh? This vote will bring comfort to many people now and finally, a choice at last to many more who want it, in the future. I’m not sure how that can be seen as sad news. According to several polls it has massive public support. Here is one of them. https://yougov.co.uk/politics/articles/50989-three-quarters-support-assisted-dying-law

I was making another point, thanks. Starmer’s point is that you can’t be both. My point is that you can if you are a Tory, apparently. By the way Haig doesn’t have a criminal conviction against her name. -

My point is that the Tories are now trying to minimise their own constant and more serious wrongdoing by jumping on the most minor indiscretions by Labour. What she did was 11 years ago, she wasn’t in post. Do you honestly think that Starmer would have gone after a Tory MP if they had done the same thing 11 years ago and before the were elected? I think that we both understand that Starmer’s point was that the people he was referring to were currently in post and breaking the law, therefore some Tories could be both lawmakers and lawbreakers in their own world. You can’t be a lawmaker and a lawbreaker…unless you are a Tory. Get it? I know the resident narcissist will have trouble with it though. -

I can’t find anything to say that she hadn’t actually been mugged. Only that the work phone was reported as one of the items stolen and then it was found at home? -

I didn’t know that she had invented the mugging. Still not the worse thing in the world under the circumstances and people have stayed in post for worse. -

Other than you can be a lawmaker and a lawbreaker if you are a Tory. -
Interesting listening to some Dutch people talking about it this morning (it is legal in the Netherlands). They seem to have a much more pragmatic view about it and one person even described it as a “gift”. We need to look on it as such, it is a release. All I hear is about coercion and reasons not to give people the release that they seek. It really needs to be viewed as a positive thing and not the negative that some are painting it. We need to be a lot more grown up about death and the individuals own right to chose. The focus should be on what is best for the patient, not what is best for the conscience of those not directly involved.

The right wing apologist, right on cue. I think he missed the irony of using Batman here. 😂 Did she actually break any laws?
