  1. For your reading pleasure: http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/saints/news/12885178._/?ref=mac I'm sure some of you have read this on the echo this morning but interesting nonetheless. Supposedly Koeman had a go at the players at HT. I always find it refreshing how much koeman has a real grasp/insight on the game. I mean today his comments about us playing like we didn't have any confidence and him not recognising our style of play....put into words exactly what I was thinking when I watched the game. And always good to see he's able to command respect of players and give them a hiding when they need it
  2. To be fair if it is true that Jose didn't want to loan/sell him to Arsenal as they were fellow title or top 4 challengers, I think saints are exactly the sort of team he'd loan him out to. He'd get gametime every week, we aren't challenging chelsea for the top 3 spots so no problem there, and also he's still in the premier league so mourinho can keep watch on him. I'm not saying it's definite, but more unlikely things have happened...
  3. I agree to an extent but Pelle is and always will be excellent at bringing others in to play and playing key passes over the top for the wingers. Thought he did this very very well today and capped it off with a goal. If we were deliberately playing a false 9 with pelle up front, noone would be as concerned that the goals haven't gone in. The trouble is he is just a normal striker with strength and good vision, not a false 9, so people are expecting them to go in. I think even in our own penalty box he's very useful to have.....and today got a goal which will be great. I agree though he's been way under par for quite a few recent games
  4. Good heavens that's an incredible penalty kick
  5. Pelle hasn't been the worst...I actually think he's given some of the best balls up to long and mane. Davies and Toby haven't been great....Yoshida plays the ball back / to the side ALL THE FREAKING TIME Really think we need someone with a lot of creativity/attacking mindedness on....not just pace. Pace is fine but hull arne't playing a high line and we need people who can make cutting passes and open up defence
  6. 10th yellow. kevin enemy showing his colours
  7. Genuinely not sure who would win in a competition of being nice between brucey and ronald
  8. So we're learning how to push a ball slowly towards the opposition...seems fair enough
  9. excellent news Hoping he can beat sturridge's 12-minutes-to-score-after-coming-back-from-injury record
  10. this seems....unlikely

    England Squad

Thought he was a real passenger. Lost the ball, went down too easily, wayward passing and a few runs going nowhere. Really sad as the other times I've seen him for England he's been excellent
  12. I think this will be one of the easier games over the next few weeks. Everton are just so so low on confidence. Yes two wins in a row but against a newcastle side with so many players injured/suspended (colback in defence last week) and then against QPR...its not fantastic return to form. They're safe in the league and don't have as much of the fighting spirit to get out the relegation zone. Could well be wrong as I always am, but I do think with nearly a full strength team we can beat them at goodison
  13. http://www.fansnetwork.co.uk/football/southampton/news/38245/? This is an exceptional piece of writing. I especially like: CONCRETE FACT 7. His favourite song is Like A Hurricane by Neil Young which sounds a bit like Like A Harry Kane whilst sung in Walloon.
  14. This is the worst, most ill informed and knee-jerk post I've seen on saintsweb since I joined the only redeeming thing about it is the brilliant application of the word "goat"
  15. I think there is absolutely no chance of top 4. Absolutely none. Very willing to be proved wrong always but Arsenal look very very strong and United have played back to back their best games of the season. 5th - and 6th really depend on two things - interested to see if others agree: A. whether spurs and liverpool can keep momentum (obviously this is the case but still), and we don't revert back to goalless, threatless February/March form. they both looked top 4 contenders a month ago and were both schooled by man u...but both have tougher run-in's than us (Liverpool are away to stoke, arsenal, chelsea and west brom which will all be tricky fixtures....Spurs have stoke and newcastle away and man city at home) B. 25th April....in all seriousness at home to spurs I reckon could very well be the difference between 6th and 7th. Total must win if we are talking about champions league
  16. Savage said a similar thing on a 606 phone-in back in November
  17. Leicester back level after 2-0 down....good news for us
  18. WAHEYYYYYYY
  19. This rumour is utterly hilarious. Pocchetino's tactic is to move clubs and then literally buy not just the staff of his old club (mitchell) but also the players
  20. Sorry wasn't clear. Wasn't at all suggesting you had said that - was saying that a classic meathead comment would be that they are defensive because they are at the bottom of the table. Not that you were the meathead in question....! But yes I agree may well have more success against them if they come at us a little
  21. I am actually from fife in scotland....would you believe it
  22. Is this just because it says 'overseas' on my location? Unfortunately not no. I am in switzerland though....which is a bit like sweden I suppose....in that there's a lot of snow and my name isn't david....the similarities....end there....
  23. They do. Classic meat-head comment would be that because they're relegation possibilities they will be 'parking the bus' and being defensive. But they've got a ton of energy and desire and really go at teams. Had a bit of a mixed start to the season though but I think they are really starting to adapt to premier league a lot more. I know that's Dyche's words....but it is actually very clear to see. Got a lot of confidence
