well i don't know about since Christmas, but in the last 6 matches Saints have 8 points, none of the bottom 9 have gotten more, except for Bournemouth thanks today's results. so i tend to disagree, but yeah, our position as time goes is gets a bit more precarious to say the least.

Che would be a big miss. He may not have the finishing touch, but he does stir the pot better than anyone else we have up front.
-
yeah, but previous to last weekend... Leeds probability was like at 62% and they got 1 win, just 1.. and look what happened. the table is so tight just one win can turn that probability number greatly .

some good memories there! thanks for the link.

this right here. Mara in for Walcott at 60 min.

as pessimistic as some of us are, there are 8 other team forums where their supporters are expressing the same pessimism - Discussing where the wins will come, how many points they need, speculating on losses of other clubs, etc? In a way, there a 9 boats in various stages of sinking, the question will be which 6 will find a way to stay afloat. 6 have to stay up - why not us? I have not given up hope yet.

normally i would say we are done.. but the table is really unusual this year. we are 4 points from 12 place (it was 5 points a week ago, 6 points a week before that) the 9 clubs within 4 points of each other cant string 2 wins together, no one has really made a strong move our 6 match form is 8 points, which is 11th best, best of the 9 clubs. so we have made incremental progress the last 4 weeks - slowly, but it has happened. (of course, time may not be on our side if that progress remains only incremental)

another week where it is clear cut to whom we want to lose. Forest vs. Newcastle Villa vs. Bournemouth Wolves vs. Leeds Brentford vs. Leicester Chelsea vs. Everton Arsenal vs. Crystal Palace A lot of away games for a relegation rivals this week

I haven't been following the type of goals Tella has been scoring at Burnley. Is he creating a lot of his chances, or is he getting goals served to him on a golden platter? Because if it is the latter, he would not be pulling this current team out of the bottom 3.

meh, home or away, quality of opponent or not.. normal advantages don't seem to apply to this team. Whether it is a home loss to Bournemouth or an away win against Arsenal - neither wouldn't particularly surprise me in this run-in. Inconsistency is our middle name. It's becoming increasingly clear we dont have enough rabbits to pull out of this hat we are in.

had our eyes on 8 matches this weekend.. Bournemouth 1 - 0 Liverpool 😟 Everton 1 - 0 Brentford 🙁 Leeds 2 - 2 Brighton OK West Ham 1 -1 Villa OK Leicester 1 - 3 Chelsea Yay! Spurs 3 - 1 Forest Yay! Palace 0 - 1 City Yay! Newcastle 2 - Wolves 1 Yay! 2-2-4 1) of our 8 relegation rivals - only 2 gained points on us 2) Now 5 points separates 12th and 20th place; before the weekend it was 6 points. 3) 59% chance of relegation now; before the weekend it was 64% I would say a positive weekend overall (considering our opponent).

Stoke ain't getting promoted.

I feel like if we are at 31 points with 5 matches left, we have got a fighting chance - 2 wins gets us to 37. The only team of that lot possibly on the beach would be Liverpool (I see them comfortably in 3rd or 4th by the time they play us) Brighton, Fulham and Newcastle will all be fighting/jostling for Europa. Forest will be fighting against relegation (hopefully) was just looking at the table.. Newcastle is freefalling. In their last 8 league games, they have scored 3 goals.
-
A couple items of interest in regards to the matches this weekend. only 6 points separates 12th from 20th. (9 teams) and those 9 teams (which includes Saints)? Well, none of them play each other this weekend, which means they are all playing some pretty good clubs and will have trouble picking up points. An opportunity to really move up if we can nick 3 points. It is very clear cut on who to root for this weekend (or who to root against)

A front 3 of Sully, Che, and Walcott A mid 3 of JWP, Lavia, and Charly A back 4 of whatever GK (pick em) - we give up a bone headed goal. Sully, Che, and Walcott camp out 5 yards outside the penalty box and then flop like there are snipers in the stands JWP with 2 free kick goals to break Beckham's record at Old Trafford. United 1 - 2 Southampton

If it had gone in, it is possible VAR might have come into play. Souttar had a fistful of AMN’s shirt, pulling it to gain advantage as he was heading the ball. i know that is wishful thinking - VAR helping us.
-
What infuriates me more with video review on the touchline is when the referee gets it wrong, even after looking at it at various angles in slow motion. I get that it is easy to get it wrong on the pitch - might be 20 yards from the play, the speed of the play, etc. but hell...

I am not gonna give McCarthy too much stick as i feel he is the better option for us at the moment than Bazuna. ....But has McCarthy ever stopped a penalty kick? To be honest, i cant remember the last time any Saints keeper stopped a penalty kick. - oh, and despite the above, i am an eternal optimist - in my head, i can see a 3 match run with 3 wins.
-
Umm... haven't enjoyed it in quite awhile.

Relegation - What two teams do we take with us

Bazuna's dad? -
Hologram is exactly the word I was looking for. At times, it looks like the ball goes right through his body (like some weird glitch you see on FIFA 23).

Currently 538 predicts Saints, Bournemouth, and Everton. oddly, we were at a 77% chance of going down two weeks ago, now at at 72%. Progress! https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/soccer-predictions/premier-league/ Wolves, Forest, and Leeds definitely need to look over their shoulders. West Ham probably push on. -
https://www.premierinjuries.com/injury-table.php this site says muscular injury and ruled out. No idea if it is accurate of not.

Always felt Ralph didn't set him up to succeed or excel. Nice to know he has rebounded, is playing well, and has found a home in France.
