something i hear at least 10 times from announcers during a Saints matches... "what a chance!!!"
-
We’re given gifts (Loris howler + 10 men) and still couldn’t get points. We are not a very good team, but fortunately there are a few worse in the league. This team has 15th place on 44 points written all over it.
-
how was our defensive backfield set up once Valery was taken off... was trying to figure that one out
-
didn't play well, but got the 3 points. We have been on the other end of that story, so this was a nice change. substitutions made all the difference.. we need pace up front. The Ings-Adams pairing is not working.

teams like Burnley? i am getting tired of seeing good performances against great teams proceeded/followed by dreadful performances against average teams. it all amounts to **** all. 0 points. it's a pattern. i feel like i have been reading the same exact game reaction posts every Saturday evening for years now.

Kane makes it look effortless.. i look at that third goal against Villa today and say to myself : "yeah, sure, right.. slightly unmarked at the edge of the box, just kick it to the corner of the goal, should go in.. why cant we do that?!"
-
was never convinced Gunn was better than McCarthy was never convinced McCarthy was better than Gunn not convinced Forster is better their either not convinced either are better than Forster so, umm...our goalkeeping in a nutshell? not very convincing.

I get the negativity. No Saint supporter wants to relive the last 2 seasons again this year. So to see the season opener play out like so many matches we have experienced in the past 2 years was depressing as hell.
-
we were link to a player that signed for £72m? define the word : linked.
-
interestingly Yoshida has played in 169 matches for Saints and has 9 goals
-
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moussa_Djenepo wikipedia already has his club listed as Southampton.
-
yeah, you could pretty much flip a coin between McCarthy and Gunn. I guess there is more upside with Gunn.. going with youth. I find it hard to get riled up over who between them should start.

Top 10 Finish 40 points by Mid March

we got paid as if we were televised 10 times..got the same amount as Watford who were televised 10 times. We essentially received the bare minimum on TV money.

Maybe i am only looking at it through red and white colored glasses, but can any other club claim the number of former players that have started/played in the CL Championship the last two years. 2018 Liverpool v. Real Madrid Bale - Started - scored 2 goals Mane - Started - score 1 goal VVD - Started Lovren - Started Lallana - 2nd half substitute 2019 Liverpool v. Ajax / Spurs - potentially Mane, VVD, Lovren (maybe) Tadic Wanyama Alderweireld (loan, I know) Gazzaniga (likely on bench) Pochettino (Manager)
-
meh. Liverpool are already looking for shiny new virgins to sully; we are beat up, worn, and all used up.
-
one of my go to sites.. http://www.sportsclubstats.com/England/Southampton.html Southampton : 00.10% chance Brighton : 16.80% chance Cardiff : 83.10% chance
-
hey, with 3 games to go, matching our season point total for 2016-2017 is still possible.
-
no kidding. 2 more points lost from a winning position. we must be leading the league in that statistic. and yes, was thinking a point today would be a positive. Helps that Brighton didn't pick up any points either (the odds that both Brighton and Cardiff earn 38 points or more and we stick at 37 points must be very very low)
-
Cardiff held their own today, but Liverpool just wore them down. Talent won out. But Cardiff is still playing hard and with spirit i would say, and haven't look terrible in the last 3 or 4 games. I expect they will pick up some points in the next 3 matches, but I don't think they are going to get past the Saints.
-
me too. that will put us up 6 points above Cardiff, carrying a better GD. with three matches to go, It is hard to imagine Cardiff getting 7 points and Saints getting nothing.
-
Indeed. 538 still has us at under 1% chance of relegation. https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/soccer-predictions/premier-league/ now they did have us finishing at 14th before today's matches, now they have us at 15th

Or... just how good is Hassenhüttl? P18 W8 D3 L8 Pts 27 (that kind of form all season would lock up 7th place)
