When school finishes look him up. You'll be pleasantly surprised. Both these players provide a solidity and presence that our current options do not.
-
Chris Samba available on a free. Caceres available on a free. Both better than our current options. Time to take a punt.

The possibility for an opportunity, for opportunities and possibilities, and possibility of opportunity.... and on and on. Same as every pre and post match interview since he arrived.
-
Afternoon all, anyone got a good free link for the game?
-
I agree regarding the diamond. With our personnel it is not making the best use of what we have, and the system is too easily combatted in the Prem. --------------------------Forster--------------------- Cedric (Cuco)--Fonte------Van Dijk-------Bertrand ------------Hojberg------Romeu (Clasie)----------- Redmond------Boufal (Davis)----------Tadic (JRod) ---------------Austin (Long or on wings)----------- Looks a good team.
-
Van Dijk is a class act. Martina was great! Does he have his own song? (Something based around Copa Cabana - Cuco Martina - over to you Turkish!) Feeling very positive about the team for the first time this season (fickle?), much better performance all round.

Reading the last few pages of this thread, and to be honest most threads, it's just the same sad sods *****ing at each other rather than any football discussion. Makes me embarrassed to associate with you as Saints fans. It's not even differences of opinion, just personal insults. Maybe you need a Fight Club thread devoid of any football talk? Been months since I've been on here, and it's got worse. Does the point-scoring help you sleep at night? Bye.
-
I know! But I do believe he'd still be of value, and on current form of our strikers you at least know he's going to get a few goals. A better option than Austin, and though I'm wearing my rose-tinted specs we have missed him.
-
I'd bring back in Super Rickie as he can still do a job, especially for us. Older, slower, but still class. Cheap alternative if we don't sign another striker?
-
Ok if they're our psychos though! Mark Dennis...(honourable mentions to Vic, Gobern, Colleter)
-
Ronny Rosenthal, FA Cup hattrick Roy Keane, for his warm-down antics when they relegated us Darren Anderton, for being Venables and Hoddle's excuse for not picking Le Tiss for Euro 96 and WC 1998
-
Would you rather a lion for 60 mins followed by a bloodbath, or a sheep for 90 mins followed by a foot long buttclegg? Every team needs a Vic.
-
Le Tiss is my favourite player of all time, but he didn't work for the team when we weren't in possession, so against the teams that were better than us and we didn't get much of the ball we couldn't "give it to Le Tiss" and therefore he'd disappear from games. And that's not a criticism of him, just part of what made him the player he was.
-
Vic may not be 100% consistent, but he brings so much to the team and we're a better team with him in it. Different players obv, but Le Tiss was not consistent and had many flaws but you'd always pick him as he was a different class of player. I'd rather a team of Vics and MLTs than a team of Telfers, Milners, Phil Nevilles, Steven Davis' - the 6.5/7 out of 10s week in week out. Entertainment and moments of magic over work ethic and rigid mechanics for me! But truth is you need a blend. Brilliantly inconsistent/potential liability/mercurial genius IX: -------------------Higuita------------------ Cafu-------Ivanov------Massing----Roberto Carlos -------Valderrama-----Big Vic(in keeping with thread)--- ---Le Tissier-------------------Ronaldinho---- ---------Frank Worthington---Stoichkov---------- Subs: Grobbelaar, Gascoigne, Friday, Rigobert Song, Mark Dennis, Vinnie Jones, Wegerle Probably wouldn't win consistently but would always be worth watching.

Don't mistake realism for lack of ambition. I'd love us to win the league and cups, as does every fan of every team. However, I can appreciate what a strong position we're in now, having experienced the years of escaping relegation on the last day of the season and the eventual drops down the league and into administration. In hindsight I'm actually glad it all happened as this last 5 years has been one success after another, year on year improvement and some amazing results and memories along the way. To assume it will continue in the same trajectory would necessitate getting top 4, then winning the league, then winning champs league, world club cup etc forever onwards. This will not happen in the next 5 years, but that doesn't mean I don't want it to! Just enjoying the ride, and keeping a bit of perspective.
-
Reading this thread makes me think the majority of posters have only supported Saints for the past 5 years, only the good times. As a "lifer" of over 40 seasons you get a bit of perspective and, whilst always annoyed at a loss or draw, you have to appreciate this is still the best we've performed in many, many years so try to remember the days of Branfoot, Grey, Wigley, Sturrock, the Dutch Duo, and having Jermaine Wright as the first name on the team sheet! We'll improve, we have a good squad, good manager, stable board. Chin up, we've never had it so good!

Y Lambert and Sharp?
-
I agree. The presence Forster has meant the whole defence played better too. Such an important player to have back. It all starts with the keeper, and FFs a 'monster'

-
Ronaldinho's brother/agent says he's speaking to several clubs in England. Yes, he's 35 and erratic, but I'd play him every time over Davis, Tadic or JWP in our 3 behind the striker. Please Ron, make it happen, it would be wonderful!
-
Why have you drugged our onions?
-
Agreed. We were by far the better team, just lacked finishing. Wanyama to blame for this defeat as both those tackles were beyond stupid, and its not the first time. Norwich got very lucky as they were not in the game at all until we were down to 10 men. Deeper analysis not necessary, we were the best team, just having triangle-boots Long up front and brainless Vic meant an undeserved loss.
-
Oh Big Vic, was my favourite player the last two seasons, but now I have lost faith - just as he has. Davis... has become Telfer and Jermaine Wright - lots of effort, very little real talent. Positives - Clasie improving each game, ditto Cedric and Gazza. We need a striker, a central creative goal scoring attacking midfielder (not an easy find!), start playing Romeu and (much as i love him) a commanding leader at centre back to replace an increasingly fallible Fonte. But Merry Christmas one and all, it's a crazy season and a few wins can change everything. Keep your spirits up, we'll be OK and hopefully an exciting couple of signings in January and it's all rosy. As another poster pointed out, we're only 8 points off a champions league spot!
-
I think you need to watch a little more football and write nonsense on this forum a little less. If you couldn't see the quality Lambert brought to our side throughout his time with us you were either not watching, or are a very poor judge of the game. From your post count I can only assume you didn't watch much at all!

Goals, assists, link up play, broke into the England team, went to the World Cup... Yeah, awful!
