If the ref had called a penalty for Virgil getting tackled in the box on every set piece, there could have been a record number of goals scored in a Europa game. Virgil must have told the ref 6 or 7 times to watch what was going on.

I'm not sure you get to see a manager's tendencies until after about 12-15 games. He has to get to know his players while working around injuries and international breaks while coming into a new country. He's trying to see what combination of players in what positions in what formations best suit his personnel. Puel was successful in the past at each club he managed so there would be no reason to believe he was unqualified or inept. I'm quite encouraged by what I have seen so far.

I don't understand the interest n Townsend. A few decent games early last season and a fizzle thereafter. Apparently I must be misjudging what my eyes see.

Better that he has ambition to finish as high as possible rather than bemoan the difficulty of losing half the squad, trying to integrate many new players, and stave off relegation. At least he looks forward rather than backward.
