That Psv fan gave a fair description, I like to add that Clasie is way better than Blind as a CDM. He just needs to improve his handling capabilities and endurance in order to adept to the PL. That will take some time.

According to the Dutch paper De Telegraaf the fee for Feyenoord is 9,5 million pounds which will be raised to 10,5 million pounds when Casie plays an unknown number of games. This is a good deal for the Saints, for Feyenoord and for Clasie off course. Congratulations with this new signing, I hope this little man will be a great player for the Saints!

So no "Moneyball" stuff at all?
-
Guess so, everyone knows this deal will be closed. The question is: what will Southampton pay? No so called journalist knows the answer at this moment.

Krabbendam is not a reliable source, he's a Feyenoord watcher for "Voetbal International" but Feyenoord refuses to speak with him... He usually makes assumptions which can be made by anyone else.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lKee_beQUDw Van Hanegem with a video message for Clasie before the WC in 2014. Cool stuff for the emotional ones amongst you...
-
Gustafson won't be the replacement of Clasie but an addition for the left flank as we're low on left foot players, especially when Vilhena won't sign a new contract. Wait a minute... Clasie and Vilhena! There's you're double signing... Just kidding.
-
Don't forget Pelle, Clasie knows him well...
-
Then you should really worry as Feyenoord massively lacks goalscoring ability... Can't imagine a 35-year old Kuyt is going to hurt the Saints.
-
If I heard right Twente will be ok when the mortgage for the stadium is payed. That would mean you will have to sit back and wait for a couple of years. You would be very lucky to keep Ziyech and the other players you mentioned above. I would have loved to see Ziyech playing for us, he could have been "the missing link" for Feyenoord. Would have traded Clasie for him as we have Vejinovic and El Ahmadi as backup, I rate Vejinovic potentially even higher than Clasie... I don't understand why Psv is after Pröpper as replacement for Wijnaldum, Ziyech is definetely the better one. I don't know what to expect from Kuyt at 35, I only hope that his arrival doesn't mean that Basacikoglu won't get his chance. We'll see in less than a month...
-
Indeed! Hopefully Martin van Geel from Feyenoord will negotiate a percentage in case Clasie will be sold for a lot more to Liverpool...
-
Katrina Liebherr appears to be a decent owner. I wonder, would you prefer some Arab or Russian with enough money to compete with the top but as a result the current identity of the Saints is lost?
-
Yup, it's way to less and it's clear example of Dutch football going down hill. An even better example was Luiz Suarez who was bought for 18 million pounds by Liverpool while they bought Andy Carroll for 28m I believe. There's one exception and that is Daley Blind. Manu payed way too much due to van Gaal off course...

Apologies Sue, I won't pollute this topic any further with some Dutch rivalry. Twente is a nice traditional club, I hope they'll survive the near bankruptcy!
-
Don't let that video misguide you, Clasie doesn't appear that much in the opponents box in reality and he seldomly shoots at the opponents goal, let alone scoring a goal... He is an outstanding DM for Feyenoord however and like someone else wrote above: he has vision and passing ability. He deserves a move to a better competition in order to make progress and if it's going to be the PL, Southampton would be the right club for him because of Koeman and because of the way the Saints like to play and how the team is build up. I only hope that the Saints will pay at least 9 million pounds because he's surely worth it and because Feyenoord needs the money to get replacements for the defense.

I know but I'd rather not talk about that Jewish thing, it's too embarrassing...
-
Must be... "The sons of Gods" (as the Ajax fans like to look upon themselves) connected with Millwall, that's quite funny!
-
The fans of Ajax have a slogan they probably borrowed from an English club: "We're Ajax, nobody likes us, we don't care..." Though being a Feyenoord fan, I can dig that attitude...
-
Cockroaches do survive everything, the question is will you?
-
That would be a great idea! Clasie will need time to adapt to the club and the PL and this way he will be ready for next year when Schneiderlin leaves. It will be more expensive than planned off course given the fact that Schneiderlin will be sold for a much lower fee while Feyenoord does want at least 10 million pounds. But with all the cash coming in last summer, that doesn't have to be a problem or is it?

I remember Feyenoord - Tottenham, the final of the Uefa Cup in 1974. It was the first time Holland learned what hooliganism meant. 4.000 drunken Spurs fans who saw their team getting beaten by a superior Feyenoord and started to riot. Those mf's came with knives out, innocent people enjoying the game were crushed, there were 150 people wounded and it was a miracle nobody died. Since that day Tottenham is the most hated English club amongst many Feyenoord fans, especially our own hooligans, the ones without brains and always looking for a thrill shouting they're "Feyenoord till I die!" Monkey see, monkey do... As a Feyenoord fan I have no problem with Tottenham Hotspur, you can't judge a club on a small part of their fanbase as I wouldn't like others to judge Feyenoord by the idiots who tried to destroy Rome this year.. However, I do feel more tense when we're playing them ('83 and '92) then usual. Even at a friendly game 10 years ago! But hating them because there are some fools amongst them who look down on Southampton? This sounds a bit childish to me...

Thanks Pimpin, I'm following the Saints since I heard there was an exceptional guy playing for Southampton who just said no to all the "big" clubs that came along. Later on the link with Feyenoord was first established as Uli van Gobbel came over from Galatasaray, I believe he was the first Feyenoord player ever who played for the Saints , too bad it wasn't a big success. But my heart goes out to clubs who are a bit different, doing it on their own way. Southampton is to me a real gem between all the glittering **** in the PL with to much money. I know the club has a rich owner (of which I hope will never happen at Feyenoord) but at least it's not some crazy Arab or Russian taking part in the killing of football.
-
I guess the link doesn't work well Pimpin but I know which article you mean. It's a nice read when you are a Feyenoord fan but it's a bit over the top too, like it was written by a fan or the agent of van Beek and Kongolo. Like most talents they are capricious or unpredictable, they can play great for a month and then they make the most stupid mistakes. Especially Kongolo had some bad ones this year due to lack of concentration. The fact that Feyenoord's leftback is very poor didn't help him either to be honest. You have to allow talents to make mistakes because they will learn from it and get better but without their mistakes we would have been playing in Europe next season... (Off course our attackers should have made more goals so the blame is not only with our defenders!). The statement in the article that "the fans are calm and that no major surgery is needed at Feyenoord" is rubbish but it doesn't concern van Beek and Kongolo. Everyone can see that these lads are two gems in the making. But they would break when they were put in the PL or Bundesliga at this moment, they need a couple of years and much playing time before they're ready for the next step.

Too bad... I'd rather he went to Paris Saint Germain or so who would have paid easily more than Newcastle can...

Sorry man, family comes first...
