  1. Frank de Boer proved himself with Ajax in the Eredivisie and in Europe. The last two years were not that great but keep in mind that Ajax lost their best players for years in a row and they don't like to spend their cash the way English clubs do. So it is pretty amazing that Ajax won the title four years in a row and got results in Europe against ManU, Barcelona etc. though they didn't make it to the second round of the CL. Frank de Boer is a very committed person who demands all from his players. Though the game of Ajax became more boring to watch each year because they lost their best players causing de Boer playing more defensively (the game of Ajax is usually all about ball possession and being dominant all over the pitch), I believe Frank de Boer will bring more fun to Southampton than Koeman did. Koeman is all about "organisation" on the pitch and tends to find it more important to prevent a goal before you think about attacking. Like Koeman de Boer was a world class defender back in his days but to me it seems he has listened to Cruyff better than Koeman did... The one thing de Boer lacks is a lucky hand with new signings so it would be better for the Saints to appoint someone else for this job. It's Les Reed right?
  2. Come on Batman, don't be sour. Koeman did a great job at Southampton for 2 years, did you really believe he would stay on much longer? Don't know if Everton is the right club for him but he'll probably has his first year with the Saints in the back of his mind when 6 players or so left the club and all turned out well at the end. Looking forward to the new coach, my bet is on Frank de Boer who just left Ajax.
  3. Too bad Virgil forgets that when he plays for the national team... Well, I guess it's a bit difficult to defend Shane Long. Hopefully VVD is very soon able to play in the orange squad like he did for the Saints last season as he makes far too many deadly mistakes for the Dutch.
  4. It's the same as in the Netherlands then, the parties get a certain amount of "seats" in the parliament depending on the amount of votes they get in the general election and they decide which politicians get a seat in parliament. I guess the only difference is that we have more than 20 political parties to choose from...
  5. From the Dutch news on tv I Understand that the outcome of this referendum will depend on the youngsters (below 35 years old and usually in the remain camp) to take the trouble to vote as the elderly (50 up and in the leave camp) will surely vote for leaving the EU. Looking at this forum this can't be true or the remain camp here is a lot younger than I assume...
  6. I wouldn't like the avarage Dutch politician to be responsible for these kind of decisions as it is clear they know as much about European politics etc. as the next fool. They're just being told by their political leaders how they should vote in parliament. Don't know if it's the same in the UK but I doubt it will be much different...
  7. The mortgage interest rate in Holland is at an alltime low and it is tempting to refinance my current mortgage but I'll have to pay a big fine so it's better to wait for another 6 months. Problem is that a Brexit will very probably mean that the interest rate will raise quickly so please forget what I said here before and just vote "Yes". Much obliged!
  8. Thanks for the info Steve, let's hope it will be Ajax then. With Peter Bosz at the helm in Amsterdam it will be a fun game for the Saints...
  9. Would love to see the Saints back in Holland! I assume the seeded clubs won't play against each other so Feyenoord is out of the question. Ajax or AZ would be nice but their coeff is probably to high? That leaves Heracles which plays on artificial grass or is it turf?
  10. Would I as a fan have been more glad when Holland would have won the World Cup in '74 with "ugly" football? No SOG, I wouldn't. To me that would be the same like having a beautifull wife who's only there for the money, it's not the real thing. There are people who say that in the end all is forgotten and only the titles remain but that's too simple for me. "Total football" is still remembered up to now and who has forgotten the great skills of Pele and his mates before that? But you're right, most fans are just happy when their teams win any which way they can. Like most of them are happy to drive their Vauxhall to work or **** their wives every sunday night at 10 pm.
  11. Hmm, his nickname in Holland was "garden gnome"... He's doing well for Napoli in the serie A but will he do any good in the PL? Doubtfull...
  12. Well, it looks that we're going to find out who is right about Janssen next season. There's talk in Holland that some club from the PL has made an opening bid of 11 million pounds and that's very serious money for a club like AZ. I hope you're right about him as it would be a shame when another Dutchman leaves too early for the money instead of building up his career the right way.
  13. To me the beauty of the game can only be seen when a team concentrates on creating chances to score instead of just preventing goals from the opponent. Like Johan Cruyff said: "you just have to score one more goal than your opponent..." This doesn't mean I can't understand or respect someone like Simeone or Mourinho for their achievements, it's just no fun to see their teams play. But then again: I'm a Dutchman raised with the philosophies of Cruyff, van Hanegem etc. so I'll probably look at the game in different way than the average Italian or Englishman. Though I doubt that there are many footballfans who do not like the way Barcelona plays and which is based on the Dutch view on football back in the seventees. http://www.fourfourtwo.com/features/how-johan-cruyff-reinvented-modern-football-barcelona#:LPv9Y6CW5mEwvA
  14. Janssen had a nice friendly game at Wembley and he scores a lot of goals in the Dutch League against minor opponents but against PSV and Ajax or against Feyenoord in the Dutch FA Cup he was nowhere. He works hard and he has potential but he has to get more experience before he leaves Holland. Don't forget he played in the Dutch second division last season and he was sitting on the bench of AZ until last december. When he moves too soon to the PL there's a big chance he ends up like van Wolfswinkel. Milik is getting better lately at scoring goals but that isn't too difficult when you play as a striker for Ajax in the Dutch League, you'll get plenty of chances against weak defenders. Against minor opponents in the Euro League he didn't deliver and I don't believe he's up for the PL at the moment. He's very static and can't do anything with his right foot, he's too limited in my opinion.
  15. True, but I have to admit there are no strikers at the moment in the Dutch League who could do a good job in the PL. Maybe Vincent Janssen from AZ in the future.
  16. I guess you mean Frank de Boer and not his twin brother Ronald... Vilhena is too often a precipitate player who loses the ball too easily and forgets his defensive duties. He's still young though and I believe a coach like RK is able to handle him, to make sure there's more discipline in his game. He's free to leave so he's cheap to get but I doubt that he will add anything to the Saints early on. Like Clasie he's physically not equipped for the PL, it would be better for him to leave for Italy or Spain.
  17. Hey, you're saying we should leave things to the justice and police department, that doesn't mean you're wrong on other subjects too... This week the Dutch intelligence service AIVD reported that they have leads there will be a new assault in Europe and the USA. Of course this horror should be dealt with by the authorities but than we're only talking about the symptoms and I believe moderate muslims can help to destroy the root of the problem by setting up some European form of islam which doesn't conflict with European norms and values. That means that they'll have to acknowledge some parts of islam (or should I say islamic culture from the Middle East and North Africa?) don't mix with European standards like the freedom of speech, equality of men and women and that the rules of a religion are inferior to the rules and laws of a country. I would like them to get united and make clear that it's not ok to see a woman as an unclean creature you don't shake hands with, I would like them to not attend a mosque where an idiot imam says that gay people should be thrown of the roof from an apartment building because they don't have the right to live and I would like them to address the problems in tv shows, letters in newsapers or on social media instead of always screaming they're the victims of racist views or that they're not accepted as Dutch. How can you be seen as a Dutchman when you openly declare that Dutch comedians should not be allowed to ridicule Erdogan because he's your Prime Minister? I told you before about the problems on some schools in our big cities which are dominated by muslims. Well, the situation is even worse as this week the news on Dutch tv showed that teachers from elemantary schools need to get educated how to deal with little kids who declare that Isis is good for islam or with the children that put their fingers in their ears because they're not allowed to listen to western music the teacher plays for them. I'm not talking about the kids from refugees here but about the fourth generation of immigrants from muslim countries. There is no progress Charlie, things are getting worse and now a spitefull politician like Geert Wilders gets more than 40% of the votes in the polls and we see movements like Pegida in Germany demonstrating against the "islaminisation" of their country. The only ones who can help to make things better are the moderate muslims who can change things from within their culture. They can crank up some kind of reformation but it will take years to distance themselves from the hardliners and it will be painfull to condemn one's family, friends or co-workers for not accepting the norms and values of the country they live in. That's what I meant with "the hard way" as it's going to be a difficult path. To me it's a better option than to keep calm and do nothing...
  18. You're being silly now Charlie, I'm not talking about physical violence at all and your veiled suggestion that I might is a cheap shot to put some label on me as your "political correctness" probably can't cope with the things I'm telling you. But if you won't take it from me, maybe this guy will make more of an impression on you...
  19. http://www.skysports.com/football/news/11700/10242788/southampton-chairman-hopeful-ronald-koeman-will-remain-with-club-next-season So, not much coming in when no one leaves...
  20. Yup, in dutch we have the saying "kicking in an open door" but as there are still many people living in la la land with a ridiculous strong door, we just go on kicking it... We have another saying: "soft healers do make stinking wounds" which you would know as "desperate times require drastic measures" but that doesn't cover the dutch expression in the right way. So I believe it's necessary to show these kind of video's to show what we're up against. These kind of imbeciles also walk around in Europe, putting their poison in feeble minds, telling them that islamic law is above the law of the country they live in and all the rest of their sh*t about women, gay people and so on. Your idea that these lot have to be confronted with a country's law and order system is meaningless to them, they just go on in jail if they ever get there at all. Like I told you before: in your country they even allow them to set up sharia councils. What would you think when a catholic priest would say that people accused of apostasy should be killed and your government allows this madman to take part in the justice system? Yeah I know, Jews do have some kind of justice system too in Britain so things have to be equal etc. etc. I believe islam in Europe needs some kind of reformation to prevent local civil wars. I hope I don't have to show you the video's with extreme right wing idiots all around Europe do I? You're aware that neo nazi's do get seats in political systems in several European countries right? The German NPD does even have one member at the European Parliament... These nasty developments are mainly caused by the fear against foreigners who happen to be muslim, wouldn't you agree? You'll probably believe that Europeans have to put some effort in adepting to these new times but that would be the other way around. No, to turn things around we depend on the so called moderate muslims to step forward and tell the radicals to p*ss off. It's not enough for them to say they disagree with them on twitter or to organise some demonstration, they will have to get rid of the idiots the hard way. Only this will be a clear signal to Europe and will lead to acceptance by infidels. As long as they don't move I'd better go on with showing video's to wake them up. So what's your idea of a solution?
  21. Sometimes it's good to polarise as it will get your point through. Take this Afghan MP and his view on rape: "there's your kind of rape and there's islamic rape and if you don't like it we cut off your nose..." Instead of being bothered with the rubbish of the western world or dodging the question he makes perfectly clear that "his" islam is really something else... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e_tMqoKL4rc
  22. Then again, it does seem rather obvious that Obama is not responsible for the drone attacks of China, Russia etc., doesn't it?
  23. Oh, I should have said the drone attacks by the USA to be specific so you would understand it too.
  24. Too bad but I'm not. Remember Bush with his hitlist in Iraq? There were about 50 terrorists on that list wanted dead or alive. Obama's hitlist contains a couple of thousands of them and he is acting on it too. Already more than 500 assaults with drones in Pakistan, Jemen, Iraq and so on. He doesn't care about the people who happen to be in the neigbourhood of the terrorist, bad luck for them... http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2013/feb/05/obama-kill-list-doj-memo Do you believe that things will get better with Trump or Clinton in power?
  25. Bloody hell they're everywhere, there's no escape from the loonies... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=22vjpKbVRVQ&nohtml5=False
