  1. I was going to respond by asking you if you really though that Ralph would spend the time and effort to write my blog and then I realized that I am surprised that I am spending the time and effort so that proves nothing. Nevertheless, your persistent belief that I am Ralph is moderately humorous if it is a joke and foolish if it is not. Also, can anyone post a link to any source that says that Morgan received a raise this summer?
  2. I transcribed a couple of post-match interviews today and posted them on my blog. I have decided not to do this very often because it is boring to do.
  3. Do we actually know that Morgan received a pay raise?
  4. As an American I had more trouble listening to the reporter. She talked quite rapidly.
  5. I have transcribed the boat show interview on my blog. http://redsloscf.blogspot.com/ I agree that Mr. Krueger's responses may not have been perfect, but they were coherent. Just not that informative. The questions maybe have been clear, but they were also not really designed to elicit and particularly new or noteworthy information. On an American grading scale I would give them both a C+.
  6. I posted a new blog entry entitled “I Transcribed Radio Solent’s 12 September 2014 Interview with Ralph Krueger”
  7. I have posted a new blog entitled “Newcastle’s Transfer Window and Match Preview.” The title more or less explains it all.
  8. I agree that Australia would be a good place to look to build up the fan base, but why would Australian talent be cheaper than Indian?
  9. I have posted a new blog entry entitled “Concussion Update (Part 3)” in which I discuss the two recent incidents where BPL players were allowed to return to play with concussions despite the new safety rules. http://redsloscf.blogspot.com/
  10. On behalf of anyone in the world who supports YOUR team who lives further from St. Mary's than you do, I apologize.
  11. I propose these rules: At each stoppage of play, the manager can request review of any one reviewable play that has occurred since the last stoppage of play. If play has been stopped by a goal that was not disallowed, no review is possible except of that goal. I would start simply and allow only off sides calls to be reviewable at first. Referees should be instructed to let play run on a bit following off sides calls to see if a goal occurs right away. If the game has stopped for an erroneous off sides call, the other team gets an indirect free kick.
  12. I don't think this transfer makes sense for City this January. They are very limited in the funds they can spend on transfers this year and they do not need another injury risk striker.
  13. I do not believe premier league teams can get players on loan outside of the transfer window.
  14. That wouldn't quite be good enough: 18.10 A “club-trained player” is a player who, between the age of 15 (or the start of the season during which he turns 15) and 21 (or the end of the season during which he turns 21), and irrespective of his nationality and age, has been registered with his current club for a period, continuous or not, of three entire seasons (i.e. a period starting with the first official match of the relevant national championship and ending with the last official match of that relevant national championship) or of 36 months. 18.11 An “association-trained player” is a player who, between the age of 15 (or the start of the season during which the player turns 15) and 21 (or the end of the season during which the player turns 21), and irrespective of his nationality and age, has been registered with a club or with other clubs affiliated to the same association as that of his current club for a period, continuous or not, of three entire seasons or of 36 months. They need to have actually been registered with a club during the relevant time frame. Of course, there would be tens of thousands of such people, but not every kid on the dole.
  15. I have published a short editorial blog entitled "Brazil Actually Addresses Fan Racism in a Useful Way." You can probably guess what it is about.

I am even more optimistic. I think Morgan will be our next captain.
  17. I found this quote from early August that made me strangely happy. Just yesterday the thread was resurrected to point out the original poster's foolishness. It was from northstandchat, the Brighton and Hove Forum which I was reading for research purposes. I guess things are pretty much the same everywhere. BTW, I edited the quote to take out the portions that would have given it away immediately.
  18. Nah. They would play everyone onside all the time.
  19. BPL Rules A.1.85. “Home Grown Player” means a Player who, irrespective of his nationality or age, has been registered with any Club (or club) affiliated to the Football Association or the Football Association of Wales for a period, continuous or not, of three Seasons or 36 months prior to his 21st birthday (or the end of the Season during which he turns 21) and for the purposes of this definition of “Home Grown Player” a Season will be deemed to commence on the date on which the first Transfer Window closes and expire on the date of the final League Match of the Season; A.1.153. “Squad List” means the list of up to a maximum of 25 Players eligible to participate in League Matches during a Season of whom a maximum of 17 may not be Home Grown Players; U.1. A Player shall not play for a Club in a League Match unless that Club holds his registration (which shall include, in the circumstances set out in Rules U.3 and U.13, confirmation that he is eligible to play for it) with effect from at least 75 minutes before kick-off and for League Matches to be played between the close of the First Transfer Window and the end of the Season either: U.1.1. his name is included on the Squad List; or U.1.2. he is an Under 21 Player. Obviously, Southampton has no problems with homegrown players this year. However, if we were to qualify for Europe next year we would have a problem because UEFA rules are different: Conditions for registration: List A 18.08 No club may have more than 25 players on List A during the season, two of whom must be goalkeepers. As a minimum, eight places are reserved exclusively for “locally trained players” and no club may have more than four “association-trained players” listed on these eight places on List A. List A must specify the players who qualify as being “locally trained”, as well as whether they are “club-trained” or “association-trained”. The possible combinations that enable clubs to comply with the List A requirements are set out in Annex VIII. 18.09 A “locally trained player” is either a “club-trained player” or an “associationtrained player”. 18.10 A “club-trained player” is a player who, between the age of 15 (or the start of the season during which he turns 15) and 21 (or the end of the season during which he turns 21), and irrespective of his nationality and age, has been registered with his current club for a period, continuous or not, of three entire seasons (i.e. a period starting with the first official match of the relevant national championship and ending with the last official match of that relevant national championship) or of 36 months. 18.12 If a club has fewer than eight locally trained players in its squad, then the maximum number of players on List A is reduced accordingly. As best I can interpret your backwards European dating system, only Isgrove will be old enough to require registration as a full squad member next year so, if we kept Schneiderlin, our squad size would be limited to 23 for European competition. Our under-21s would still be eligible. And, we could try to resign Lallana or someone else who spent three consecutive years at Southampton before age 21 to fill in the squad numbers.
  20. Thank you for the help. Alas, I found those pages, but they don't have any direct email addresses unlike, for example, the websites for Southampton, Man U, or Arsenal.
  21. I need to send an email to the press or public relations office of the BPL, the FA, and the Leicester football club. Perhaps it is just my American unfamiliarity with traditional English Websites, but I simply cannot find the appropriate contact information. Can anyone help me? Thank you in advance.
  22. That is a premier league rule, but not an UEFA rule. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2585496/On-loan-Atletico-Madrid-keeper-Thibaut-Courtois-WILL-eligible-play-against-parent-club-Chelsea-two-teams-drawn-Champions-League-quarter-final.html from the BPL Handbook 2014-2015 V.7.2. during the period of the Temporary Transfer of his contract registration a Player shall not play against the Transferor Club; Unless there is a contractual provision to the contrary we could finalize the transfer now. Remember what happened with Hooiveld. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jos_Hooiveld#cite_note-18 Speaking from my extensive Football Manager experience, each loan is different. I think that as part of the Osvaldo loan they took over his salary but we took over Taider’s salary. I assume we are off the hook for it now since he was reloaned to somewhere else. Such deals are possible when a loan deal is made permanent in the middle of the season. From the BPL 2014-2015 handbook V.7.3. if during the period of a Temporary Transfer the Player’s registration is transferred permanently from the Transferor Club to the Transferee Club, the two Clubs may agree in writing (to be copied to the League) that the Player shall not play against the Transferor Club for the remainder of the Season; I cannot find a rule that allows such a provision for a regular transfer. If I had to guess, I would guess that such a deal would not be allowed because, if it were, every selling club would insist upon such a provision and that would weaken the competition overall. I suppose you could loan a player to a team with the expectation that the loan will become a permanent transfer the very next day and thereby allow the transaction to prohibit the player playing against the selling club that season.
  23. I think the point is that insulting KL's competence was fair game, albeit something that looks misguided right now. However, insulting her appearance, weight, gender, morality, or suggesting she was betraying her father's legacy was not. Asking for an apology for such insults is pointless, however, since the appropriateness of the attacks was not reduced by recent events. They were inappropriate when made. This reminds me a little of a letter to the editor of Sports Illustrated written by a Penn State Football fan in the aftermath of the child molestation scandal. He stated that Penn State Football would come back stronger than ever thereby proving its critics wrong. Not the point since the critics were complaining about the molestation and cover up, not the quality of the football.
  24. And Fox now has the American rights to the next two world cups which, as an American, is not something to which I am looking forward. And, apparently, I am not alone. http://worldsoccertalk.com/2014/07/16/what-will-fox-sports-world-cup-coverage-look-like/
