  1. A bonus treat. Thanks. I pretty much agree with everything you said. What I do not understand, from the perspective of an American lawyer, is why Southampton does not thoroughly investigate whether tapping up is occurring and, if so, take appropriate actions which would include complaints to the FA, lawsuits, if necessary, and a refusal to allow representatives of the English national team to attend games at St. Mary's.
  2. I assume I am failing to understand the cheetah joke. Is it an English thing?
  3. I am sure that with a little effort you will be able to deal with your problem. I didn't understand this.
  4. Although he is not English, the logical England manager given the personnel available is Tony Pullis.
  5. I will do it for 50 dollars an hour. And that is a bargain, I normally bill 100 dollars an hour--not for transcribing of course. I would offer to pay my secretary 25 dollars an hour to do it, but she is refusing to transcribe English or Dutch accents.
  6. I am pretty sure he would not get a work permit--if he is old enough and it would violate other rules if he is too young.
  7. An interesting question: who would win England right now (no Sturridge) minus Southampton or Southampton?
  8. Jos' highlight video made me think we should have kept him around to teach other players how to do interviews.
  9. I think I should get the credit for everything good that happened this summer. I started posting here and writing my blog at the end of July--just when things seemed to hit bottom and they have gone more or less straight up since then. No thanks are necessary, however. The enjoyment of watching a good Southampton FC team is thanks enough for me.
  10. I endorse this viewpoint. Being a San Francisco 49er fan in 1981 was an amazing and special experience. Those fans who viewed the whole season with pessimism rather that hope missed a lot of the fun. It doesn't mean that I, or anyone else, expected them to win the Superbowl that season, but it certainly meant that we could enjoy each game as it happened and hope for more next week.
  11. I would offer him a 30m release clause for a champions league team and 35m for other teams and require it to be exercised in June or July. Actually, while we are at it, make it a 40m release clause for Barcelona, Real Madrid, or PSG.
  12. I have posted a new blog post entitled “Concussion Update (Part Five).” http://redsloscf.blogspot.co.uk/ http://redsloscf.blogspot.com/
  13. His physio stat in FM 2014 is a 20, the maximum. His CA is 140 and his PA is 145. None of are remaining physios are considered to be particularly good by FM. I normally fire them all and hire new ones when managing Southampton in FM. Of course, my FM physios are not real people--unlike Southampton's physios and my FM players who are.
  14. It only seems that way because of reversion to the mean. There is no cause and effect relationship between winning the award and playing poorly.
  15. I think he wants us to do well. He just doesn't think we should be happy about it.
  16. Given Financial Fair Play and the BPL salary cap combined with their insane transfer spending this summer, they might very well need the money. http://www.financialfairplay.co.uk/latest-news/manchester-united-unable-to-spend-their-way-out-of-trouble
  17. I considered hissing your answer but thought better of it. But seriously, who is the little boy, who is probably about average height for his age.
  18. Who is the boy in the picture with Katharina Liebherr?
  19. I have just posted an article on my blog entitled “Southampton FC, Martin Samuel, and Financial Fair Play (Part 3).” Unfortunately, it is not the last article in the series. There will be a part four. I really hope there will be no part five. Part three discusses the limits the club’s finances and the salary cap impose on Southampton’s efforts to improve the team to a level where it can compete for Europe. http://redsloscf.blogspot.com/ http://redsloscf.blogspot.co.uk/
  20. I assumed it was to strengthen the defense.
  21. I would say that RK is more likely to make substitutions that are not like for like and to instruct the players to change the intensity of their pressing and to attempt more or less through balls or long kicks. But I admit this is all a feeling I have. I have not attempted to quantify this at all.
  22. You made me laugh out of control. I only recovered when I checked my original post and it said "case" not "cake". But I wish I had typed "cake".
  23. That seems like a better protocol that the new English football one. On the other hand, I don't know what you can do about people who show no symptoms (or hide them) for several days. They are just as much at risk of the dangerous effects of a second concussion, but there is no way to spot them. From my perspective the primary problem with the current English football protocol is that people with qualifying symptoms that should trigger a full evaluation (in a quiet place according to the NHL) are being evaluated at the touch line and put back into the game after seconds or minutes.
  24. Last year we had 11 points after six games. Our opponents earned 29 points in the games that were not against us. This year we have 13 points and our opponents earned 35 points in games against others. So we have played slightly better against a somewhat tougher schedule. A schedule of average opponents would have earned just over 38 points this year so our schedule has been slightly easier than average, but still tougher than last year.
