He's not.

That seems like a peculiar remark. Southampton has absolutely no history of doing that. Also, I would be more afraid of the fourth place German and Spanish teams and the third place Italian and Portuguese teams who will have a better coefficient than we do. Third place goes straight into the group stages too. A point a game is above relegation form.

Less inconvenience with Wednesday and Tuesday games instead of Thursday ones. Less Inconvenience with fewer long trips to Eastern Europe.

Stephens' loan is currently scheduled to end at the end of January. As far as I can determine, it has not been extended but Swindon wants to. http://www.football-league.co.uk/news/article/2014/swindon-town-sign-southamptons-jack-stephens-on-loan-1962482.aspx

MLS splits money even more evenly (as do most USA professional sports leagues) which is probably possible because there is no relegation. I know Spain is very unequal and Italy puts a lot of emphasis on historical performance. I have not researched other leagues.
-
Yes, but TV money is distributed more evenly than match day or commercial revenue so anything that switches the relative importance of TV money is better for all but the biggest six clubs.
-
Assuming the deal is structured fairly, a big if, this has the potential to equalize revenues more fairly and reduce the advantages of the bigger clubs. Or maybe not.

Sadio Mané says he will be back in just two weeks

We also left him in the game after he was injured. -
I agree but for different reasons. I think he will just play out his contract and then leave on a Bosman.

I am happy with our current billionaire who is almost certainly not a thug and a criminal.

I just posted a blog post entitled "Possible Gaston Ramirez Transfer to Boca Juniors May Not Be Possible." I think it is exactly what Bearsy wants. http://www.redsloscf.blogspot.co.uk http://www.redsloscf.blogspot.com

Would he have been healthy enough to start every game?

I think the logical outcome is that Koeman stays one extra year here and then leaves in 2018 to coach Holland.

You got me. It is. I don't think a blog post is required. I fully intended to admit it if anyone ever said anything. You win the prize.

His value is enhanced by the fact that he counts as a home grown player for English clubs. For that reason he would be extremely useful to Manchester City and Chelsea. He can't go to Barcelona until next January because of their transfer embargo.

Really? You won't be upset that your prediction was wrong?
-
I just posted "I Make Predictions (Round 21)." I will keep your suggestions in mind. Strangely, my tabulation of Southampton salaries as found in the Football Manager database got more page views than anything in more than two months since my Jack Cork New Contract post. It almost seems like the less time I spend on something the more people who are interested. This makes sense if my longer articles take away one's will to live. Maybe I should try writing like Herb Caen.

One in a million greatly understates our chances. And we will get it back to back because we will win the Champions League in 2015-2016. You read it here first.

In theory you are correct, but the problem with your analysis arises out of the unequal resources available to the various premier league teams. Say, for example, we sell Morgan to Arsenal for 40 million pounds--woo hoo we took them. But he fills a long standing hole in their line up that they have appeared unable or unwilling to fill any other way. And they have the money to spare. As a result they become a significantly stronger team. We are weaker with out Morgan. Perhaps we can get lucky (or skillful) and replace him with someone close for only a portion of the money but it is unlikely we could use the rest of the money to otherwise catch up with Arsenal. On the other hand, if we sold Morgan to Swansea for 40 million pounds that would hurt them. But might still not be better off. Of course, none of this really matters because we will have to sell him this summer for considerably less unless we make the champions league.

The whole continent isn't affected and I am pretty sure they will screen out fans or participants who are vomiting or bleeding out of their eyes. -
Yes. But it is a thoroughly researched game that tries to use real information whenever possible. I would trust them over random "journalists" for example who are likely to be repeating information leaked to them by an agent or a club with an agenda. I sort of assume that MLG reads these boards and comments when he wants to or is allowed to by his contract so I generally don't bother to ask him questions. But if he wants to tell us how he (or FM as a whole) comes up with their salary information I would be happy to find out.
